Much better than issue 29, and the art didn't bother me either. The big reveal was more of a who cares moment than a WTF moment to me, and I'm not sure why Allie thought people would be angry about it. It's really not that big of a deal and was overhyped big time. But I'd rather be underwhelmed a little than angry about a plot development. So overall the Retreat arc was good enough, but kind of messy and I felt a little disconnected at times.

I love the Buffy cover. Sometimes it's nice to see artists other than Jo Chen. Even though I love her covers, it's always easy to know what to expect from her each month. She always has the same style.
I hope the big Buffy reveal isn't something very similar to the Retreat TPB cover. It has to be bigger than just giving up or giving in.

Yes, I want it reversed so there can be more small scale stories with the main characters and not some random slayer I don't care about. The only problem with reversing the spell is the final episode of the show would lose a little something because of it. I'm conflicted.

I didn't think the one shot added anything that substantial or interesting, and could easily be skipped without missing a beat. I only read it once, maybe I should read it again.
Of all the ways Dawn could potentially be turned back to normal, didn't you expect something more? A simple sorry? Dawn was a giant in March 2007, and we had to wait till May 2009 to find out how she would be fixed. And it was by saying sorry. I guess I expected too much. I just thought Dawn's transformations and how to fix it would be more important since it really went on a long time.
And I realize I've been negative lately. But I absolutely understand why people are so critical of issue 29 too. I wouldn't give it a 1 though, that's pretty harsh.

Why wouldn't I like the rest of the season? I liked the first three issues of Retreat. They had some good character moments. The comics have ups and downs and I'm hoping for a up soon.
If you look at January through Oct., that's not the best of Buffy season 8 honestly with 5 issues of Predators and Prey not doing much other than outing vampires in a terrible way and making Dawn normal again by simply saying she was sorry. And then an empty useless one shot with Tales of course. Retreat is still better than Predators and Prey, I can say that much. Actually I can say that by a lot.
There was just something really great about the first 11 issues to me. I want to feel that again. The Long Way Home, The Chain, No Future For You, Anywhere But Here, and A Beautiful Sunset. That's a great run.

Stakey, agree with everything you've said. The way the war is being depicted is absurd, it feels like a joke and the cartoonish tone doesn't help. This is supposed to be a big moment.
Issue 30 has the same goofy Archie comic look as issue 29 sadly and I wasn't impressed by the three page preview. Retreat was good it's first three issues, but issue four derailed everything. I don't know if issue 30 can recover. I have to go back and read old issues, because I don't remember the art being this colorful and bothersome to me.
Issue 29 gave us a werewolf that died, but then didn't really die, was against Oz, but quickly changes sides without much hesitation, helmets that make the slayers look dumb, and some really cartoonish gods.
Issue 30 in just three pages has given us a somewhat bad attempted fix with a certain character. I can't wait to see the final page of issue 30.

No matter who Twilight is, it will be disappointing. We've waited way to long for this. I hope it's not Harth though. I always go back to Ethan Rayne, even though he was apparently killed. Why introduce him so early and then kill him? Usually the beginnings of a story tie in with the very end of a story pretty closely.

Lately I've been liking season 8 less and less. I can't compare it to the show because it's clearly not the show at all. I don't love how big everything is, or the absurd moments like mecha Dawn. I've always hated Batsu and I still don't get the point of it. I almost quit the comics at that moment.
The vamps in, slayers out mess is the point I started to not care as much as I used to. I'm seeing it through to the end, and I hope issue 30 has a great twist ending to revitalize my interest. The art is bugging me lately though. Sometimes it's more cartoony than I'd like and the war that's going on doesn't feel serious to me. It's being dealt with badly and it's underwhelming.
I thought Retreat was going well the first three issues, it's issue four that made me cringe a little. Still I love issues 1 through 11, and little moments since then. And After These Messages was a lot of fun.

I read this on aol's news page. I hate tabloids, but they aren't always wrong. Wasn't one of them the first to find out about John Edwards infidelity?

Thanks Andrew. I'd hate to see it go below 50,000, and it's lost half its buyers already, but I think that's to be expected with most comic books. I can understand why people are bailing lately though.

I'm not feeling the impact of the war at all. And the colors and art are making it cartoonish and it feels off to me. This is the issue I've been waiting for many months now, I hope the rest of the issue is better.
I used to never have a problem with figuring out who is who, but lately I have to look at a character and guess, and go by process of elimination. I think Willow has been a little all over the place with the drawing of her face lately. Same with Dawn. I've had some mix ups with Oz and Andrew too.

So it would of happened if Gellar commited? Disappointing. I'd of liked to see that. She does those goofy Robot Chicken episodes.........

I'm excited about this issue and scared as well. I hope the surprise ending is more good shocking and not anger inducing shocking. There's been a couple of those moments for me in the comics so far, both of which kind of killed a bit of my interest in season 8, but I've come this far. I can't really bail now. I can't even begin to guess what will happen in the cliffhanger. I've tried but I can't come up with anything. Two and a half weeks to go.
And the TV series has never made me as angry as the comics have, plus the show was free, the comics cost money and a drive out of my way to the comic book shop. The show had limits and was grounded, the comics basically say anything goes even if it makes no sense.
All I want is season 8 to feel like it did with the first 11 issues. Those were pretty great.

Wenxina, impressive if true. Did the first four volumes top the charts? I think the first four volumes were all infinitely better than Predators and Prey. And PaP came out at the end of the month and still managed to be number 1? Good to see regardless of how I feel about that arc.

Sky, Wizard Mazazine is about 6 bucks, I picked it up in a comic book shop. I wouldn't pay anymore than that personally.

Paul if that's the case that'd be great, but it's not clearly a lie or clearly true. I'll pretend it's Andrew telling more absurd stories though. I like it better that way. But I thought Andrew was meant to learn a lesson in season 7.......

I picked this up last week, and it's the only time I've ever bought Wizard Magazine, but Buffy was on the cover, so I had to have it.
The Dollhouse article with Eliza (and she has a cover too but I went with Buffy since Dollhouse isn't doing much for me) is only 2 or 3 pages and it's right before the Buffy season 8 section. It's nothing new and Eliza doesn't say anything people don't already know.
They sell Wizard Magazine in basically any comic book store, and hits news stands outside of comic book stores a week or two later.
The Xander/Dracula relationship is lame, and I'm going to erase Goddard's comments from my mind. I have no desire to see that storyline touched on again.
The idea that Xander stayed in touch with Dracula after Buffy Vs. Dracula is such afterthought writing, and Xander hanging out with him after Anya's death? Suuuuure.

Ouch, these are expensive. I don't buy stuff like this, and I've never seen a good set of Buffy statues, toys, figures, etc. because the faces always look weird or really off, but I love these cartoon figures. They're too pricey for me, but if I was to buy merchandise like this, I would definitely buy these.

Thank you CowboyGuy, SlayerLV, Jsebold87, and EvilWillowRocker!
SlayerLV, MN huh? Me too. You can tell it's fall, it's becoming darker earlier and I'm cold! And those weird moments of snow the last couple days....

These are pretty cool, and I would of bought them if I didn't miss vol. 1. I'm kind of obsessive like that so since I missed vol. 1 I won't be buying any of them. It'd be too incomplete on my shelf. I know I have issues. I enjoy seeing Jeanty's personal drawings for everyone here though.
I have to admit, many of this personalized drawings look better than some of his drawings for the actual comic book, especially Dawn and Faith. I like his Tara a lot, and his Drusilla is very nice.
