See I see myself as christian, but I understand that there is an awfull lot of rubbish in the bible that needs to be ignored. The main things I take from the bible are along the lines of don't judge other people, and try to show love to others in everythign you do.
I also have a general philisophy of that people should be allowed to do whatever they want to do to make themselves happy as long as it doesn't negatively affect others. I don't see how being gay can negatively effect others, thus I don't see it as wrong.

There are rules I follow as a Christian. In the same way that your parents will say 'Don't do this.' My religion says that too. I take the gay rule as 'Don't be gay.' Which iseasy for me. Could problematic for others, though...When I read that I thought that was pretty funny. That basically sums up a lot of people's stance on the issue, and it is pretty true. I understand how someone who is not gay might have trouble believing it isn't a choice, simply because they didn't share that experience. I don't want to go into religion too deeply because it is so easy to offend someone. But, when I was younger I was a Christian and when I realized I was gay it really didn't help things. Your whole world changes, your friends, your parents, and then even your own God seems to be against who you are. It can be a lot to take, and it really led me to re-evaluate what I believed as a person. I still am unsure what I believe but I still try to reconcile religion and my sexuality, faith and science, into something that gives me hope rather than grief. scarygothgirl - Totally agree. |

Astray... I really can't imagine what that must have been like for you. I don't even have words... I just hope you find your place because place of mind is one of the precious things in life. No matter where you find it.
And for the record I see sexuality the same way I see religion - while your mind and body will push you in the way it feels is most right for it there is still some modicum of choice. And when I say wrong I simply mean it like to me being muslim is wrong doesn't change my outlook on anyone and most people don't actually choose their religion. I'm probably saying this wrong, but I don't know how else to say it. Does anyone understand me?

Sorry but that makes no sense because for gay people (and even straight) there is no choice (i have plenty of gay friends that can attest to this) personally sure i have the "Choice" to be with men but i don't because i love women, just as you have the "choice" to be with women but "choose" not to, so when it boils down we really don't have a choice just a false sense of choice.

I am quite disgusted with what you said Rexy B. Saying gay is wrong is a wrong thing to say. Being gay is not wrong at all. Being straight is not wrong at all. Being bisexual is not wrong at all.
The other day i was taken to hospital because i was suffering from panic attacks thinking of ending my life just because people beleive that being gay is wrong. The next day i'm on the internet reading this thread and then i see your comments saying that being gay is wrong and that's the truth (which is bullshit) - oh well.
And if you believe being gay is wrong, then you'll burn in hell with us for talking on this Forum because there are many gay people on this site. Am i right?
However, i do not beleive that gay people will burn in hell if anybody is offended.

^^I hope things get better for you. Just remember, nobody has anymore concept of what's right and wrong than you. We're all humans, we're all in the same boat, and there's nothing wrong with you. There's something wrong with people who have a problem with who other people are. It's easier said than done, but just remember that you're strong enough to admit who you are. And that's the hardest thing to do in the entire world.

Thank you. I respect my sexuality because it's RIGHT. It's special. lol. I haven't come out to people at work or anywhere apart from my dad, my doctor, my therapist and the person i was talking to at the hospital who was extremely helpful by the way.
Love is about respect. So gay is about respect because a gay guy will love a guy and give him respect. And yet the bible is saying it's wrong, LMAO.
I feel sorry for Rexy B, for not understanding. How on earth can you watch Buffy and Angel? that's the most disturbing part that i can't understand about you?

Secondly, I don't want to get into another argument, but saying Rexy is going to burn in hell seems a bit harsh to me. She's merely voicing her opinion. She's chosen how to live her life and is sticking to it while being nonjudgemental about other people. Frankly, I think she deserves praise for this. If we wiggle to make a little space, I think there's enough room in the world for both Christians and gays. |

I'm kinda over this now, but my last point is: in life people won't agree with you. I can watch Buffy because I don't hate gay people. Your beliefs are not always what determine your character but the way you react to to people with different beliefs. Not everyone is the same, we should be able to live together. I don't want to attack anyone but it saddens that you would say something so mean just because I don't agree with you. I have always believed peace of mind to one of the most important things in life. I don't believe being gay is right. So what? You don't believe in Christianity. So what? All that matters is that what you're doing doesn't hurt anyone and makes you happy. You should'nt care what I think. Especially not enough to attack me like that.
Those are my beliefs and I'm sticking to them: Get over it.
NEWLY ADDED: The point of my original post has been overlooked. it was that regardless of your beliefs you should not discrimate against anyone. I added my beliefs so you would see where I was coming from...
