I get what you mean Moon Eyes. I mean, I've heard from everyone that he's a nice person and all, etc, but I'm just not that interested in seeing him in other roles or meeting him in real life. I don't really know what it is, but I'm not really a huge fan of him, just the character. I think he did a totally fantastic job in the role though! I feel the same way. I'm not really interested in seeing any other characters JM has played or meeting him in person but I love Spike. There are some actors/actresses where I will watch anything and everything they do and then there are those that I like in one or two roles and don't have the desire to find everything they've ever done.

I only liked Faith when she was on Angel. Everytime she showed up on Buffy, I found her a bit annoying, but I thought she was great on Angel.

My Confession. Even though I am a big Spike fan it doesn't necessarily means I'm a James Marsters fan. When I first became a Spike fan, I became the biggest James fan as well, partly because I came in contact with huge James-fans and my passion was shared. Some of them even knew extremely obssessed fans, those that are a bit scary, but that you still know are perfectly sane and just having fun. I meet a woman through on of those fans, who keeps one of JM's unwashed mugs she stole from a event and drinks from it when she's in the mood for some James saliva . I think at one point I was a bit jelaous of that woman, don't judge me. And the chick who bought his hair that was sold at a auction. I was a bit jelaous of that chick too. But don't worry, when the hair came up on ebay, I did not want to buy it. Because hair is gross (not judging people who's into hair. You are alright too). So I was seriously obssessed (but now one of those nutsbags who actually thinks he's my soulmate and/or molest him at conventions). It cooled off after a while tough, and now I'm less of a hard core fan, more like-him-but-do-not-longer-fantasize-about-having-his-kids obssessed. I still feel like I need to watch anything he's ever been in and read a Q&A once in a while, but that's it. Not I just want Spike's babies. ;D

Yeah I'm the same with a lot of characters, if I'm obsessed with a celebrity it tends to be more I'm obsessed with one of their characters rather than the actor themselves.

Ahh...thus the dilemma of being a fan. For me when I was a girl it was Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Mad Max and Martin Riggs. Heck if I would have known Harrison Ford was gonna date and marry a woman thirty years younger than himself, I may have held out getting married. Hehe. Truth is they are just humans, actors so a little less so, but they come with all they foibles and peccadilloes the rest rest of us have. Sometimes worse. Don't get me started on Mel, soooo sad!

I can never watch the end of Empty Places without getting really pissed off....especially with Anya. When she says"you really think you're better than us" I wanted Buffy to say "H-ll yes!" (and she is by the way..at least better than Anya). Telling her she didn't deserve or earn her powers really annoyed me.I think dying twice saving the world is more than enough proof that she has earn them. Her little "luckier than us" comment makes me happy she was killed off in the end. Nothing is lucky about being chosen to have (in Willow's words) the weight of the world on your shoulders.
I was one of those fans who wanted Kennedy & Rona to die in Chosen. Dawn too(don't care if she's Buffy's sister).
I liked Riley,Adam,Glory & Conner.
I prefer Spuffy to Bangel. (love them both) Don't like Cangel either. Angel and Cordy were better as friends.
I love Spuffy's rough sex in Smashed,Wrecked,Gone,DMP & Dead Things.Yes I did I'll admit it.
I prefer Kendra to Faith. I did enjoy Buffy/Faith in Season 3.
I like the episodes Reptile Boy,Bad Eggs & Beer Bad.
Could care less Chloe hung herself. Wish some of the other potentials would've followed her lead. (I know I'm heartless)
I love Buffy telling everyone off in Get It Done. They all needed to hear it. Esp Spike whimpering and crying all season. It was okay the first few episodes but it became old after a while. Anya "aside from getting rescued" was worthless. So was Xander & all the whiny potentials. Willow was the only one I felt bad for. I got why she feared using her powers so much.
EDITED: I prefer Xander/Cordy to Xander/Anya
I prefer Willow/Oz to Willow/Tara (love them both)

I actually loved that moment in Get It Done as well. I have expressed somewhere on this board how annoying Spike was at this point, which is why I loved him in season 5 of Angel. Karma for mentioning Kendra. She is very underrated. And I also can't stand the ending of Empty Places especially with Anya. All they were doing was sitting around being scared and Buffy was trying to break them out of that and because of that she got expelled. Yes what happen with Xander and others sucked, but casualties happen in war.

I love Spuffy's rough sex in Smashed,Wrecked,Gone,DMP & Dead Things.Yes I did I'll admit it. Sometimes I can turn off my conscience and just enjoy the wrongness of certain scenes, but never with Spuffy, since I took that whole relationship personally. Makes me think "Now they're fraking, then there's going to be crying in Tara's lap and then struggling on the bathroom floor." Hard to enjoy most of their season 6 scenes when this pops up in my head the whole time. PS. I'm not sure any of those examples can be call rough, except maybe Smashed, since it did bring a house down.

While their relationship was violent it was one I couldn't look away from. I enjoyed watching their relationship until it got to the end of the episode Dead Things. It's always hard for me to watch the second half of s6 (due to the harsh treatment towards Spike). I esp hate Seeing Red. I hate this episode even more than I do Empty Places. It always comforts me to think about their relationship in S7 while watching S6. I love to see how far their relationship came. They started out as enemies and ended up having deep feelings for each other. Oh and I just assumed all those encounters were rough. In Dead Things you could hear stuff breaking & crashing in the beginning so I would consider that rough(just not as rough). DMP wasn't rough at all. That's the most gentle encounter they had in season 6 along with Gone. You're right though compared to Smashed they weren't really rough.

^^ Too be fair, I assume they did things to each that would make me want to vomit. Just off screen, of course.
And I can't deny that their relationship was hard to look away from. It was fascinating, brutal, ugly, poignant, sweet and vomit-worthy.

And how can you not hate them as a couple? She was changing his diaper just under a year before they slept together. And the fact that Jasmine was Cordelia's driver was even more disturbing. Even Charisma Carpenter hated it.

The reason why no one has probably mentioned that they hate Connor/Cordy is because it's not exactly unpopular

I have all kinds of unpopular opinions. I'll list only a few: 1. Most of you will stop reading in shock and disgust when I say this, but ... I think the whole concept of canon is wrongheaded and we should abandon it. I don't think Joss Whedon is a genius, I don't give a damn what he says is or is not "canon," and I refuse to let anyone buy or sell space in my mind. 2. If anybody's still there ... I think Season 5 is the best of the seven, but Season 6 is also great. Seven 7 has some deep flaws, but the basic concept is sound. 3. As somebody else said, I hate whiny, love-sick Spike. In fact, I think the whole Spike character was mis-conceived. When I first saw Spike, I recognized him as the British equivalent of a certain thoroughly vile American type that I've met several times when I was in the Army. I was disgusted when they tried to make him likable. 4. I love Dawn. I especially love her when she's being "whiny," as some people say. 5. I don't care for Tara's character. The Willow-Tara relationship, sweet as it is, seems unhealthy to me. You should never get into a relationship that you can't live without. 6. I like the Joyce character, but they should've stuck with the Joyce from the movie, who hardly remembers her daughter's name. 7. The biggest mistake they ever made was letting Jenny Calendar die. Better stop. Heck, any one of these could be a thread.

^^ I think that many are either indifferent of canon or sick of it, so don't worry, not very schocking. I myself like discussing it tough.

As for point 6 on your list I think Buffy's mothers character in the film was adapted into Willow's mother in the series. I think Buffy needed a really loving mother as she was quite spoilt in the first season, which wouldn't have happened if her mother didn't care much for her.

Here's my thinking about Joyce. If Joyce had seem as she was in the movie, like Willow's mother as you say, then Buffy would've had a fully dysfunctional family, just like Willow and Xander, and later (apparently) Faith and Wesley. We don't learn much about Giles' family, do we? Or Anya's?
The point is that all the main Scoobies would've been on the same footing. Buffy would've needed the gang in the same way that Willow and Xander do.
The Scoobies are a surrogate family, right? Especially for Buffy, since she's the viewpoint character. The fact that she had one good parent confuses the pattern.
Now the Scooby gang fails to be a "complete" surrogate family because there is no one to fill the mother role. That's why I think they should've let Jenny Calendar live. With a little tweaking, bring out a compassionate and empathetic side, and she would've been perfect.
Should I start a new thread about this? So many issues surrounding the surrogate family.

I diagree with you, sínce I think that it was nice to see how Joyce seemed to be a surrogate mother for all scoobies, but start a thread, this is interesting.
