Don't you sometimes feel that you oppose to a popular opinion? Don't you sometimes feel that, no, I actually think Buffy deserved to be kicked out of her house. Well, here's a thread for you:
You could spit out the opinions that (almost) nobody else shares. It feels like a confession.
My Unpopular Opinions:
1) I love S4 BtVS!
2) I felt more sorry for Xander in Hell's Bells than Anya. Anya only suffered in the end, Xander on the other hand was suffering throughout the episode. Not to mention, it was Anya's past coming back to bite her in the ass for what she had done to those men for centuries. And how disgusting was Anya when she wished that Xander should never exist. I understand hating Xander after what had done to her, but it doesn't excuse going back to being a demon and wishing the man all those disgusting things.
3) I'm desperately, passionately, totally in love with S8. I'm so happy to see my favorite characters' stories continuing. S8 gives me a far more satisfying closure to Xander's character than S7, which didn't even try to.
4) Tabula Rasa is so overrated.
5) I love Where the Wild Things Are.
6) I love Riley.
7) I love Dawn. And she makes a wonderful sarcastic character in S8.
8) Once More with Feeling was great on first viewing but when you get tired of the songs, you discover that the plot is stupid.
9) I prefer Xander and Willow's high school relationships more than their adult relationships. I guess because as seasons progressed, Xander and Willow's love life was sidelined so more focus can be placed on Buffy's love life.
10)The Buffy/Xander friendship is the most interesting friendship between a guy and a girl on both shows.

Let me think. I love season six despite the fact a lot of people don't. I like season one as well. Hush is overrated. Restless is underrated I think. I love Xander and Cordelia as a couple and don't think they get enough love. That's all I can think of for now.

5) I love Where the Wild Things Are. 7) I love Dawn. And she makes a wonderful sarcastic character in S8. I strongly agree with these points (and some of the others, if not as strongly). Especially 2), I love Anya but she got some comeuppance in "Hell's Bells" and it was about time. Tbh, I think the real victim of the episode is Stewart Burns. He endured decades of torture and mutilation as a demon, just for cheating on his girlfriend. And then Buffy kills him? But oh, poor Anya! Some of my unpopular opinions are: 1) I think Tara is a bland, Mary Sue character who doesn't deserve the love she gets. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate her (and actually quite like her at times) but I find her fanbase annoying because they seem to consider this secondary character the be-all-and-end-all of the series. 2) The high school seasons are overrated. While they have a simpler, notalgic feel to them, the majority of episodes are forgettable "monster of the week" stories that don't really impact the characters much. Plus a lot of the "drama" is rather tame teenage crap ("Oh nos! Xander kissed Cordelia and Willow saw!") whereas in the later seasons they deal with more mature, complicated topics. The characters are much more complex and interesting in seasons 5-7. 3) I don't condemn Spike for the attempted rape. Okay, so obviously I don't condone rape or anything, but let's put things in perspective. Buffy physically and mentally abused Spike for over a year, using him for sex, manipulating his emotions, and beating him into a pulp. By the end of the season, Spike is a psychological mess who doesn't know which way is up. It's obvious during the rape scene that he's having an emotional breakdown... it wasn't pre-meditated or done out of evil, he's acting out of desperation and confusion. And frankly, I don't find it much more despicable than the things Buffy consciously did to him over the season. I think that scene is over-simplified by viewers, just because people would rather view rape as a black-and-white topic.

Oohh one of these threads! Okay here are some of mine: 1. I like Beer Bad and Bad Eggs [edit: and Doublemeat Palace!!] 2. S4 is a really good season. It's certainly the funniest. And Adam was a pretty cool Big Bad. Also the spell they use to defeat him is the best "last minute plan" of the whole series. 3. Hush is overrated. 4. S1 is underrated. 5. Tara's death had no emotional impact on me whatsoever. 6. I hated how every evil character on the show could be redeemed for their actions, just because they felt sorry afterwards and/or because Buffy lurves them. 7. Spike was the worst thing to happen to the Buffyverse.

1. I believe the Scoobies and Faith had every right to confront Buffy about her decision in Empty Places. Dawn throwing her out of the house was a bit extreme and Rona and Kennedy just need to shut up, but the Scoobies have fought next to Buffy time after time and sacrificed a lot to help her out and if they think she's being reckless they have the right to tell her so. I especially love Anya's "You really do think you're better than us" speech, because it's so spot-on.
2. I find Anya beyond irritating. Most of her supposedly funny lines I find myself groaning or cringing at and her money-hunger is only funny for about one episode.
3. I hate whiney Buffy-Love-Sick Spike. I loved Spike when he first turned up, when he was all bad and tough and "I'm gonna kill the Slayer." But Seasons 5, 6 & 7 Spike needs someone to kick him in the head and remind him that he's a badass vampire, not a whipped pansy. Once he moves onto Angel he becomes likeable again.
4. I really don't find Restless to be as brilliant as it's supposed to be. It's done well, yes, but there are way better episodes out there.

I think that scene is over-simplified by viewers, just because people would rather view rape as a black-and-white topic. The only thing I will say, is that I don't hold it against Spike when he has a soul, the way others do, but I do think that rape is black and white. Was Buffy in any way good to him? No, but it wasn't black and white on her side either. On top of which, rape in my opinion is black and white. When someone is using you, you have the option to walk away, when someone is raping you, you don't. I find that this is often one of my unpopular opinions. My other unpopular opinions are 1)Tara isn't just bland, she grew a lot throughout the sixth season and became way more than just 'willow's girlfriend' 2)I'm on the fence that Willow is simply gay. Both her relationship with Oz and Tara were deep, important relationships. However I find that it's complicated because putting back with a guy after Tara would have cheapened their relationship, however making Willow totally gay I feel kind cheapens her relationship with Oz...I wish there was a way that people/characters could be bisexual without people deciding that one is more important. 3)I have deep sympathy for Buffy and Faith even when they do things that seem terrible (except maybe Faith's total turn to the dark side). I don't think any of us could understand what it's like for these two, or anyone in a similar position in real life. 4)I'm a huge fan of Dawn even though I used to hate her. More sympathy there. 5)Huge fan of Spike/Buffy, though I don't hate Angel or Riley. 6)Love season 4 7)I'm not a fan of dispising ships. It's one thing to prefer one, it's another to say that no others had validity.

1.) Angel is a far, far superior show.
2.) Despite being this famous feminist writer, Joss makes loads of women suffer and die and writes better male characters lol. A male character even saves the day in the Buffy finale.
3.) Season 8 is genuinely awful stuff: retcons, plot holes, lame ideas, pointless cameos and silly, unnecessary swearing... made bearable by some fun and nostalgic dialogue. I plan on finishing it because it's nearly over but once it is, it's out the door and hopefully of of my memory.
4.) Buffy "fell off" after season 5. I'm not sad it carried on, but have no doubt that it would have an even greater reputation without the last two seasons.

I think that scene is over-simplified by viewers, just because people would rather view rape as a black-and-white topic. Please tell me that's not your way of saying "She had it coming"? Of course, if it is, I could say "Beating a rapist is okay" or "He tried to kill her before, he got it coming". Kind of a evil moot circle, with the blaming.

-Never been a Spike fan past season 2 of 'Buffy' -Cordelia should have never became Evil/left/died. -Never a fan of Gay Willow, I still think of her as Bi. -I hated Tara when I was young but really like her now. -Season 8 has had like 5 'good parts' to it. - Buffy/Spike really killed the show for me. How could she really sleep with him after all he has done. -Spike 'killed' 'Angel season 5' and 'After the fall' for me. But I am really happy that he is back for season 8... - I want Andrew to come out as Bi. -I really hope for a small core cast for season 9 as in Buffy/Faith/ Willow/Xander/ Dawn/ Giles/Andrew/Riley/Angel as well as some really sad important deaths :(and the return of Anya and Cordelia.

Lost interest in spike after season 4 Season 4 is far better than season 6 and 7 Season 1 isn't actually that bad, and I like it better than season 6 and 7 "I Robot, You Jane" should not be considered the worst episode in the series "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" is such an underrated episode Season 2 deserves much more credit than season 3

I absolutely love I Robot, You Jane. I know it's cheesy and just generally bad, but I can't help it. Whenever I think about it, I smile, I just find it so enjoyable to watch.
Spike is the most overrated character in the entire Buffyverse and should have never been brought back for Angel Season 5. It's really annoying when I look at my Angel DVD covers and all of them are Angel/Cordelia, except for Season 5, which has Angel and Spike. They should have kept the trend going.
Season 2 is horribly overrated. I always see it listed as the best Buffyverse season, but aside from like 5 or 6 great episodes, the majority of the season is all filler.
I despise Xander. Worst character ever. He's actually just a phenomenal jerk to every character at one point in time, yet somehow gets away with it because the writers think he's nerdy and endearing. He's not. He's just an aggravating jerk.
Season 8 is the worst thing to ever happen to the series. Every time I read a summary of the most recent comic (I gave up on buying them after Wolves at the Gate which was awful) I find myself both laughing and cringing thinking "really Joss? That's where you decided to go with this?" It just has an awful plot line. And what it's come to is like the cheesiest thing ever. I'll just pretend it doesn't exist and consider the story closed at the end of Season 7. The only good arc in that whole series is No Future for You with Faith. Every single other comic is simply terrible.
David Boreanaz is a bad actor. I'm sorry. He's decent in Bones (the few episodes I've seen). In Buffy he's almost always terrible. In Angel he's "outacted" by literally every other person. He has improved from his early days on Buffy, but he still isn't very good. Except for his scenes with Spike, and a couple (their last scene being the only one I can think of right now) with Cordelia, those he does well.
I despise it when Willow and/or other characters and/or writers refer to her as gay. She isn't. She's bisexual. She was clearly in love with Oz and she was clearly in love with Tara. Sure, after being with Tara she may have chosen to stick with the female gender or preferred the female gender but she clearly loved Oz and had crushes on several other men throughout the series. It isn't a switch of "gay now." If she was attracted to men back then, she would still be attracted to (some of) them now.
Harmony wouldn't have betrayed Team Angel had they let her in more. I truly believe had they been more sympathetic, kind and trusting of her that she would have sticked with them. She's not evil. She's shown that she fails at being evil in spades. Her whole time on that season she was looking for a feeling of belonging, she needed to belong to someone or something. Had Team Angel given that to her I don't think she would have betrayed them to Marcus Hamilton. Also while on Harmony: She effin' rocks. She's one of my favourite characters in the Buffyverse.
I love Jasmine as a Big Bad. I know a lot of people don't. But I do.
I think killing both Anya and Cordelia was a mistake. They both had a lot of areas to go, and their deaths never ended up serving too much of a purpose nor was the impact of their death shown or written well. At least with the other characters, Jenny, Joyce, Fred etc. their death heavily affected the characters and the plot. Plus: they both provided much needed sass.
I think that's enough ranting for now.

1) I like Riley and Dawn. They're not that bad characters and I can enjoy them. Sure, Riley may not be like Angel or Spike, but I like the idea of a military agent fighting the demons with tasers and batons. And Dawn has an excuse for how she was in season 5 and 6
2) I really love Angel/Cordelia and don't like Angel/Buffy. That said, I do respect the Bangel relationship for what it was, but I do feel that they should really have left it at season 3, not continuing it on like they do, especially now in season 8. Also, I think killing off Cordelia was a big mistake and shouldn't have happened
3) I don't find Tara all that interesting, merely someone who helped Willow jump the fence and be her girlfriend. The only time she stood out on her own was when she broke up with Willow and forcing her to realize her actions. So while I do like the Willow/Tara relationship, it's not all that
4) I find Fred annoying and I'm somewhat glad that she died to become Illyria, cuz that off-her-rocker goddess is heaps more enjoyable to watch. I also laugh at that scene between Wesley and Fred when she's dying cuz I find it laughable. And I hated how the rest of the characters were do depressed and 'Fred this' 'Fred that' after she died, yet mention Cordelia and they're like 'who?'
That's all the ranting I can come up with for now. And btw 2000th post! Yay, finally!

How I feel about Tara is kind of how I feel about Dawn. I didn't hate them but I didn't love them either. I thought it was sad when she died, but I felt more sad for Willow if anything. When I first joined this board and peaked at other I was really overwhelmed by the Tara love.

*I loathe Angel. He's been a douche since late season 1 of Ats. Kicking Riley's a**, firing his friends, sleeping with Darla and risk losing his soul(he looked really surprised he didn't lose it), mindviolating his friends and that innocent family with the help of a evil disgusting corporation, killing that demon slave in Not fade Away just so he could say "I quit" in a strong fashion (I mean really, did he think the suicidal plan was that good), driving over those box-carrying demons for no good reason in the beginning of Angel Atf.
I'm tired of him. I used to ship Bangel and like him a lot, but then he turned into a complete bastard in season 5, and when he killed the demon slave, he passed a line, and I'm not sure he'll ever regret that act, which means, if he got killed off, I probably wouldn't care. Of course, that won't happen, since he got his own show and comic.
* I really loathe the gang for turning their back's on Wesley in season 3 and 4. He was only trying to save Connor. If someone I knew went homicidal from time to time, and I was convinced, for good reason (that fake propechy sure convinced me) that a baby would be killed, I'd run like hell, with the baby. I get why Angel reacted the way he did, but the others had no excuse for turning away, hurt feelings or not. For all they knew he was going to off himself because of the guilt, but they didn't even visit(other than Fred to tell him to stay away), which really surprised me.
* I distrust and am very very annoyed by Andrew. Even tough he was tested in Season 8 by Warren, I still think that if the offer is good enough, or if Buffy and the others offend him, he might switch sides again. I hope not, but I still see it happening. Also, his storyteling? Makes me want to kill him a bit. Specially with the Dracula part, but you'll se why below.
* Dracula and Xander in Season 8. Freaking obvious mindrape, yet it was treated like a joke. It would only ahve been funny if it was taken more seriously. Why has no one staked Dracula and then sucked up the fog or whatever, and but it in a little urn or something? If my friend was under the thrall of Dracula, may it be "active" or not, I hope I would be more homocidal than Buffy and the other were. I mean for Pete's sake, like Willow couldn't have done something? Killing Dracula, or putting him away in a box must have been real easy for her.

Why has no one staked Dracula and then sucked up the fog or whatever, and but it in a little urn or something? All it would take now is a stake to kill Dracula. The spell that Willow performed at the end of "WatG" affected Dracula as well... so no more turning to mist for him. *hands Sky a stake* Have at it.
