I've not read Asylum/ Shadow Puppets, could someone tell me more about Beck? Is she a pyrokinetic demon or something? Is "No Bad Too Big" the name of the story, or just the series' tagline? Really excited for this series. ;D At six years old Beck bonded with a Fire Elemental. She subsequently torched her parents house by accident, killing her parents and her little brother. Kind of a sad story. There wasn't much time to tell her backstory in the Asylum Comic, maybe we'll hear more about it in the new Spike series. Asylum and Shadow Puppets are great, great comics ! Thanks, karma for that. Nice to know she has an established backstory and a pretty cool one at that. Asylum seems to have a pretty cool cast. I'm also intriqued by Marv the werewolf, just because werewolves are cool and not very common in the Buffyverse.

I'm looking forward to the Spike series. I think that it's time for Spike to have his own adventures.
It will be nice to see him get out from under Buffy and Angel's shadows.
I wonder what kind of villains Spike will have to deal with.

I really hope Beck and spike get together, because she is so cute with her Spike crush and he really hasn't had anyone in awhile. I mean I know alot of people still bank on Spuffy being reuinited but I think over the course of season 5 of Angel we see that Angel and SPike are the same when it comes to Buffy now. They both have a place in their heart for her but they've moved on. Then again...Spike is a glutton for punishment and only likes girls that it won't work out with: Drusilla, Buffy.

Love the poster/cover! <3
Beck is amazing.
My only dislike is that Spike looks kinda(really) realistic, but Beck looks more cartoony.

well I mean Spike is based off James Marsters, Beck is just..beck. But If Brian had a specific inspiration for her like a certain Actress or what not it might be easier to visualize.

I think that Beck is based on Brian's Wife actually:)

In name only. Though early, early Beck (like her very first panel) looks shockingly like her. Odd thing is, Franco hadn't even seen her, it just happened. It's fate!
Beck isn't based on anyone physically. Though her ability to start fires is based on Selma Blair. It's true, she's a secret firestarter, that's how she got the job on HELLBOY.

I really like the cover, comic-con was a dissapointment for me. Didn't care one bit about the Angel info or Buffy for that matter. I'm happy that we atleast got a little bit of Spike series info and yes i'm hoping 2010 will be the year ensouled vampire(not the cursed one).
Hopefully there won't be too many limitations and Spike can evolve as a character on his own, not being held back by what Buffy or Angel are doing in their own series.
Beck is an awesome character, she never reminded me of Dawn season5 who was just plain annoying. I think there's a lot of potential there too. In the beginning she had this hero-worship of Spike that he really hated. She sorta came into her own at the end of Shadow Puppets, her being heavy influenced by Spike and Tok. And she chose to fight the good fight on her own, just like Spike. I can definitely see a future there, i'm guessing she's around 18 now and even then she has been trough a lot in her life, even more then Buffy had at that age. I think she would be good for Spike, definitely a lot better then some of the past love potentials like Spider,Illyria. I don't believe that Spike is a glutton for punishment, i doubt that he would have loved Dru so much if she hadn't been his sire, in his soulles eyes she gifted him with a new life, hindsight is everything and that love has long been dead before he even had his soul. And Buffy, well they never really got an honest to goodness shot, he sacrificed himself and then he was stuck on the Angel show.

I also forgot to mention that i really like the subtitle, "No bad too big", it's perfect for Spike. I can't wait to see what kind of challenges he'll be forced to fight against. I realy enjoyed and agreed with your observations Kratos *karmas* Thank you Malsad.

Spike doesn't seem like the sit in an office and take cases type. He'll probably stumble onto things and make the best of his situations. I wouldn't be surprised if beck acted as Spike's cordelia, sort of being his tie to the world.

Maybe. It could work. Spike might need to have someone tell him off or support him when needed.
But, (not to say I don't love the way Cordelia changed from mean cheerleader to understanding friend) I hope she doesn't get too understanding and grown-up. I like childish Beck.

I think that childishness could be some form of drive for him. When he had harmony he was the brains and she was kiddish comic relief. I could see that with beck only better becuz her character isn't dumb like harmony.

I never found Beck to be overly childish, she never acted as annoying as Dawn. And i love her little jokes, Spike was able to make this girl feel hope again, one with such a dark past none the less. And she gave Spike renewed hope at the end of Asylum, belief in him as a champion/hero and leadingman. And above all else, this girl is supposed to be i think 17-20 years old, not exactly old age. We all act a little childish from time to time, hell even Spike and Angel have their moments.
No, i also don't think Spike is the office type, waiting for cases to come was Angel's way. I don't think we've seen Spike's way. He is a vamp of action which can backfire like we saw in Damage. Still Spike has always been better connected to humanity or the demonworld then Angel. I still hope that this won't take place in La, Spike is too big of a character to simply waste on Angel's playground, especially now that there is third demonhunter there, Eddie whatshisface. I don't think that it's smart not to take full advantage of the comic-medium, the whole world can be his playground which is where i think Spike belongs, not stationed in 1 city or mostly in LA.

I think Spike understands that LA is Angel territory but at the same time after their bonding in season 5 and after the fall may feel the town is big enough for the both of them. They have different area's to explore. Anel helps the helpless and Spike helps...period. SPike has a more in your face attitude and tends to be more realistic. Like people said from "Damage", he didnt mind saving people but he's blunt and it'll be interesting to see how that plays into his role as a champion.
