That to me would equal holding Spike back by simply having him operate in Angel's town. On the shows it was understandable, shows have budgets, comics do not. Season8 of Buffy could have never been filmed, they go all around the world. Buffy's town was destroyed. Angel's still excists, it will always be his and imo Spike deserves better.
And i don't think that they have different areas to explore, they help the end. Angel got a little bigheaded in season5 but he also learned his lesson and is now back doing what he was supposed to do, helping the helpless.
The Spike from damage doesn't excist anymore, he's had tons of development since then on the show and in Asylum,Shadow Puppets and Spike After the fall. He's a lot more carefull now. As for him saying it as it is attitude, that's just pure Spike. He's not going to sugercoat it, if you make stupid mistakes he will call you out on them, like that girl with the high heels about to be killed in the dark alley in Soul Purpose. I'm pretty sure she won't make the same stupid mistake again because of Spike's attitude. While if she had been rescued by someone like Angel, she might have convinced herself that next time the dark mysterious, brooding hero will be there to save her again.

I think that Brian said somewhere he would like to take Spike is Vegas. I think that could be a grand idea! I mean that town is full of strange going's on! Plus it is still close enough to Los Angeles for a visit when needed.

Plus it is still close enough to Los Angeles for a visit when needed. Vegas....really?? Can't say i'm a fan of that town(Showgirls,Casino,Ocean's 11,13.) but why would Spike have to remain close? Comics don't have a sense of passing time, hell even on the show, Spike was in Sunnydale 1 episode and in Africa the next. Doesn't make any sense but there you have it. Comics are the same, he could be on the other end of the world and be back in La all in 1 page. Asylum was also set around Vegas if i'm not mistaken. Nor do i think that Spike needs to babysit Angel, he's bigboy, he can take care of himself. I really hope Idw does right by this character. Take risks, be original and definitely do not make him an Angel 2.0 or backup in Angel's absence. We already know that Spike will appear in the Angel/Eddie series, hopefully this new writer won't take it upon himself to diss Spike in favor of making his new character look good, which isn't uncommen for writers to do when introducing new characters.

I found out Spike is in ANGEL's book at San Diego Comic Con. Will have to adjust accordingly when SPIKE starts, but it's coo'.
I like the title SPIKE WILL SAVE US for a title, but I think maybe the outside world wouldn't.

Spike, in Vegas, land of booze, games and strippers?
Sounds like his kind of scene.

Brian said that Spike and Angel would be in each other's series at NYCC. I know, was just wondering if we'd heard something about it more recently. I assumed Spike would appear because that new Angel writer Bill mentioned Spike and talked about him in contrast with Angel at comic-con when introducing the new Angel series. So yeah i'll give this series an honest chance put i'll still be critical of Spike characterization. A lot of people claim to know Spike but that doesn't mean that they can write him well. Spike, in Vegas, land of booze, games and strippers? Sounds like his kind of scene. Respectfully disagree ;D

Really? You don't think Spike like those three things?
He has been seen drinking(he carries around a flask), going to a strip bar, he had lots of girls in Atf and he seems to know how to play kitten poker well enough to be able to cheat.
Also, he dresses like a guy who likes booze and girls(and possibly gambling). And men. All at the same time.
Btw, no double posting.

Also, he dresses like a guy who likes booze and girls(and possibly gambling). And men. All at the same time. Btw, no double posting. I think Spike likes those things superficially(expect the men part, Spike aint gay nor bisexual.). But they aren't a vital part of his character. Spike likes to drink, true but he mostly drinks when he's bored out of his mind or has nothing better to do. And a lot of booze is needed to make a vampire drunk. Spike gambles, likes to play games, true but again he usually does this when bored or lacks a goal, purpose in life. Before the soul he was stuck with the chip, wasn't accepted by the scoobies or Buffy and was an outsider. Thus he wasted many nights away playing useless kittenpoker or drinking. Spike likes girls, very true, yet he's also a hidden one-woman man. He's not a eunuch or celibate. Spike loves the pleasures of the flesh, he cant be with the woman that he loves(Buffy) thus again wastes his time with other girls. Girls that he doesn't love or really care about but that's not really the point. If anything Vegas gives me this totally depressing view on life, people wasting away their time behind a slot-machine. I guess i can understand people going there on vacation, Vegas in small amounts. But usually those that stick there end up becoming something totally different, not in a good way. And yeah, i'm skeptical about the people that need saving in Vegas. As a whole i don't think Vegas fits Spike's character, the whole town feels fake, hiding behind a glamour of lights and spectical while sucking your soul away. Very much like La, the whole fake hollywood scene, which i did think fits Angel/us. I dont know, i just think Spike's efforts could be used in much better places, i doubt Vegas will change in anyway trough Spike's actions. That town will probaly never change.

I still say that it won't be surprising if Spike ends up there. Superficial pleasure or not, I doubt Spike would say no to being around women, games and booze. He's all about the fun.
While he was in hell, saving souls, he still found time to kick back, drinking demon booze surrounded by half naked women.
And he can do good in Vegas, in the town of sin. Lots of demons waiting in back allies for drunk tourists that Spike can stake/behead/make fun of. If there's ever a place where people need help.
And the man-thing was a joke about Spike's image, not a serious reflection on his personality.
Come on, he dresses like a male prostitue who service men.
Or maybe that's just my dirty little fantasy.

Still disagree, i guess we just have different views on Spike, i don't think he's all about the fun. Spike was depressed in hell because he lost his first flock(which didn't have booze and naked women in abundance.), which again shows you what he falls back on, booze and women. But not really, because it was all just a cover for his saving-humans operation gig and it worked perfectly before Angel screwed it up. Yeah, i don't know much about how a male prostitue would dress. I do doubt that he would dress like Spike but hey it's your fantasy.

I think Las Vegas suits Spike's badass attitude and is the perfect setting for his series.
Also, remember that Vegas is where his Asylum buddies are based, so setting the book there makes it easy to involve them.

Vegas isn't JUST gambling. I go there all the time and I rarely gamble. It's PACKED with fun stuff to do. Legal stuff!
Aaaaalso illegal stuff. Lots of evil on Vegas, isn't there? Could use someone watching out for the good people.
Plus, visually it's amazing. So IF we were to have Spike in Vegas, I would imagine Franco Urru would knock it out of the park.

If you say so, perhaps my viewing of the movie "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" has clouded my opinion of Vegas. Or maybe this is just an American thing that i just don't get. I do remember however Spike saying somewhere on the show that he hated LA, i think the same would go for Vegas for being very much like it. Except your Spike does like Vegas, as he mentions at the end of Asylum that it's filled to the brim with bigbads and that a champions work is never done. I would think any major city has this problem. Or even a hellmouth, Sunnydale was very small yet it had more evil demonic activity then LA. As for Vegas i'm assuming the bigbads will be very much like Angel's. Demons acting as humans, wearing suits and running a company. I liked Buffy's bads more, demons being demons. I also don't think that Spike would care much fighting that kind of evil, he' s more into the i'll break and kill you. Ok then, i will await further judgement until it arrives. But i do hope that the whole series's run won't just consist of Vegas and La.

You're assuming villains in Vegas would be the same as villains in Los Angeles? I disagree.

As we saw Spike spending his free time boozing up in a strip-club in Angel 5, I see Vegas as a perfect new location for him. Visually it's a great idea too. I'm all for it.
