can there be flailing? I feel like SPike and the word flail are sorely underused together.

A cheeleader kisses him while other cheerleaders are cheering them on. Then she stabs him, because he used too much tounge.
Hmmm, what else.
Spike kisses a dude, thinking she's a girl, then stabs her when he finds out, and homophobs cheer.
.... That last one wasn't very nice.

I can't wait for this series to start. I love the Spike character. I also can't wait to see Beck again. If you haven't read Asylum or Shadow Puppets, you definitely need to read them. Pick up the graphic novel.
I'm hoping that Beck is definitely a regular part of the cast. I want Tok to have a recurring role and Betta to show up for at least one or two issues. Aside from that, I'm pretty open.
I was fine with Spider. I thought she was an interesting character. I know some Spuffies (I'm one btw) get a little jittery when it comes to who Spike is messing with (remember Harmony sex outcry from Ats S5?) but Spike's far from being a monk. I want to see him in another relationship.
In general, it would be interesting to see cameos from many original characters from AtF, SP and Asylum.
As far as Angel and Buffyverse characters, I'm a little more hesitant. I think Joss and Brian did a great job creating original characters that are Spike's story and I want to see more of them. I don't mind if Lorne, Gunn or Illyria pop in here and there but I don't want to see them on a regular. They're a part of Angel's story. Lorne makes sense because it's Vegas but seeing Xander, Dawn and Willow (if that's even possible) is overkill. I think it defeats what we want and that's to see Spike beyong Buffy and Angel.
Remember, many of the Angel character's we love were never on BtVS except for Wes and Cordy. And those characters were very different from their originals. Give me Spike, Beck, Tok, some Jeremy, a little George, a bit of Lorne, Dru passing through from time to time and maybe, just maybe Buffy for an annual and I'll be happy.
And Brian, please, please have an issue this summer. No more waiting!

"Give me Spike"
Done.
"Beck,"
Done.
"Tok,"
Possibly.
"some Jeremy,"
Done.
"a little George,"
'Kay.
"a bit of Lorne,"
Eventually, hopefully.
"Dru passing through from time to time and maybe,"
See above.
"just maybe Buffy for an annual and I'll be happy."
Well, that last one is hard. But how do you feel about...
...naaaaaaaah, I'll save it for later.

Oh yeah. Sounds like Beck and Jeremy will be Spike's core crew. That last line is sending me into fits and is not fair at all. I'm not sure if you're hinting that this person is the equivalent of Buffy or if you're teasing Spider. Spike has been around since S2 and into the comics. There are a slew of characters that could be jaw dropping.
All I have to say to you sir is, aaaaaahhhhhhh!

In case some people haven't read Joss's interview. Spike will be in the Buffy series. When or how is ofcourse a mystery. Joss did say that there would be a little heads-up to Idw when that time comes to make both comics sorta fall in line. Seeing as you Brian are the future writer of the Spike main-series you will probaly get this inside info. I doubt it would go to the Angel writer of the main-series, his Spike is crap and of no importance. This news makes me very happy, sorry Brian but you've never gotten the importance of the Spike/Buffy relationship. Your Boys and their toys arc is again proof of this. Having Joss write this reunion would be like the best thing ever as he fully understands how important Spike is to Buffy and vice versa.

Kratos, your Spike/Buffy comment is a bit much. Buffy is not the end all be all of Spike. I don't understand why people are still hung up on making Angel and Spike into Buffy's lap dogs. People move on in life. I'm not saying Spike has moved on from Buffy but you can still love a person and be able to move on with your life. Dru was Spike's life love and he was able to move on from her. I am a Spuffy but I don't believe Buffy is all of Spike's story.

Never saw Spike or Angel as Buffy's lapdog, Spike's greatest development was when he was on Buffy. What Spike had with Dru is nothing in comparison to what he feels for Buffy, Spike himself stated. Yes, Buffy is not what Spike's story is only about but she is the most influential, important person in his life. Far more then Dru,Angel, ect. She is the reason why he changed so much. It's idw that has dropped the ball by totally disregarding this part of Spike's character. Angel did move on during the show, Spike did not.

IDW didn't do anything. Spike in Angel season 5 made the choice to get on with his life without Buffy.

IDW didn't do anything. Spike in Angel season 5 made the choice to get on with his life without Buffy. Yet even in season5, Buffy was on Spike's mind a lot, several episodes even addressed this. In idw's comics it has been completely disregarded which rings totally false. There is nobody that matters more to Spike then Buffy.

I don't know, kratos, in 'Auld Lang Syne' there was a beautiful discussion between Angel and Spike about what Buffy meant to them. In Brian's work it's been mostly subtext and small mentions, I think, but even so, I've noticed that Brian's Spike is very much a 'no strings' relationship type of guy, someone who seem to avoid emotional involvement with women. He wants female company but doesn't get romantically attached. I've sometimes wondered if this is because he's nursing a somewhat bruised heart and Brian understands that at this stage, Spike's not ready for emotional commitment. That's how I see it anyway.

Yeah, i also have ALS, i think it was written by a chap named Scott Tipton, could be wrong. Anyway i did like that part but none of those pre-ATF are canon. But i do like your reasoning about Spike being so emotionally distant from every potential female partner. I don't believe that he was in love with any of those girls: Fred(yes as a friend),Illyria,Spider. And i'm still really happy that whenever this reunion will be made, it will probaly be written by Joss himself or under his supervision.

I have to admit I'm fairly pleased IDW has stayed away from the whole Buffy/Spike thing. I love the development Spike has gone through as a character & personaly am thrilled he has moved on with his....unlife. I was glad of it in season 5 & I like how its being handled in the comics. Its obvious Buffy is still important to him, but I love the fact that the obsesive side of things has soothed. I like the comic subtext. That said I do think the eventual reunion will be a fun one, and look forward to it; but for me, I'm looking forward to Spike's adventures in his own book more. (and with Beck in it! *is excited*)
