I dont see why you would be happy with it. Giles had a big background and all. Plus we dont know everything that happend it would be nice to have gaps filled in.

It would be extremely cool , but the Japanese Girl in Chosen is seen getting up from dinner with her family. In A Beautiful Sunset, it shows Satsu falling over at school.

What I don't get is why people have to have sex for sex's own sake. I'm all for Joss having the freedom to create however he likes, but sex is a powerful/dangerous experience that needs to be treated with caution and care, and the Buffyverse has scarcely represented this.

The only example I can think of is Dawn, and she only had repercussions because she cheated. I'm kind of guessing STDs don't exist in the Buffyverse.

I'm all for Buffy having relationships. It's just when relations are treated flippantly that I start to worry.

As long as there's some meaning to all this, I'm in favor of Buffy/Satsu. However, if this is just another sexual encounter, I'll be a little disappointed.

Because she is human...flaws and all.
I am not saying it is cool to be promiscuous or anything like that but I think Buffy is FAR from that. She is a beautiful girl in her early 20's and she has had 5 partners, counting Satsu. 2 of them were serious, long term relationships. She was duped by Parker so it is not like she was just sleeping around.
I don't think Spike counted as a serious ltr but I know there are people that will fight me on that. I see their time together as a cooping mechanism. Buffy was seriously depressed and emotionally numb. She needed something to make her feel alive. Spike was an easy solution to a difficult problem that she was scared to face alone but also scared to ask her friends for help. She could turn to spike because she did not care about his judgment, nor did she respect him....at first anyway.

I think Buffy has the fullest dance card of any regular character and her number is fairly small.
Look at all of the other regulars. Willow has had 3 partners, Xander 2...assuming he slept with Cordy and that was never confirmed (or denied, as far as I know).
Dawn has only had one partner and look where that got her.

To me, the Buffy/Satsu hook-up is no different than any other hook-up. Buffy is a vary unhappy young woman looking for happiness and love. She's experimenting and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Yeah, you're right. Five still seems like a lot to me, but I guess it could be worse. I realize Buffy is a flawed character, but I still disapprove of having random sex, especially considering how young some of the show's fans are.

I actually have a theory that if the show took place in the real world, about half the people on it would have contracted siffalous.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about this disease other than that they can cure it now, so this is all a moot point.

Darla was supposably dying of it when she was turned, and would have given it to Angel, Lindsey, and the Immortal. Angel would have given it to Drusilla, who would have given it to Spike and the antler demon. Angel would also have given it to Buffy, who would have given it to Parker, Riley and Satsu. Angel would also have given it to Nina. Spike would have given it to Anya, who would have given in to Xander. The Immortal would have given it to the Buffy Decoy in Rome. I'm not sure if it's possible, but Connor might have been born with it and given it to Cordelia. I had entirely too much fun trying to remember all of this.

The only major people I can think of who walked away from all this unscathed were Giles, Willow, Oz, and Tara.

Luckily, I think diseases can't stay alive in dead flesh for very long. Contrary to my title, however, I am not a scientist.

I think that all of the characters are within the normal/average range for number of partners, relative to their age.

Is she best of all those for Buffy because she's a blank slate and people can attribute any qualities to her they want, or because she's... she?

Personally, I think the best one for Buffy is the one that, at the beginning and at various points throughout the series they were planning on putting her together with -- Xander.

See, that seems ridiculous. By that reasoning, *Twilight* is better for Buffy than Spike, RJ, Parker or Riley. I mean, he seems like a civilized man, he didn't kill Buffy when he had a chance, expressed concern for her emotional well-being. He's tall, wears an overcoat. Groo would be better than Spike, RJ, Parker, or Riley by that reasoning, and they've never actually met.

I don't think we know enough about Satsu to even joke that she could be better for Buffy than her three multi-season love interests and the writers' long-held potential boyfriend for her, Angel, Riley, Spike, and Xander.

She didn't sleep with RJ in Him! What fanfic have you been reading? Their moment was interrupted before anything happened. I don't think Joss would have made Buffy a Pedophile, especially one who works at a school...even if she was under a spell.

Guys Buffy's a character and that character is growing episode by episode and in season 8 issue by issue .She slept with Satsu , its fine , its not out of character , if you saw all of a sudden beginning to act like Faith then THAT would be out of character. She has so many ways to go and Joss is willing to explore all of them . I simply dont understand why we have to condemn that act its not like she commited a genoside for Goddess shake!

I'm not "erasing" any pros, I'm just opting not to invent them. The fact that Satsu is in love with Buffy does not distinguish her from Riley, or Angel, or Spike.

Incidentally, if you look at the shooting script for "Him", it's a lot more explicit about Buffy and RJ, and between that and the fact that Buffy was already straddling him, I also tend to think they had already... interlocked when interrupted.

I saw nothing that definitely said they were having sex...close yes, but not sex. This is the worst of it from the shooting script.

She's on top of the desk with R.J. -- her shirt's open too far, her skirt's half off. R.J. still has on his jacket. Xander quickly averts his eyes as Buffy scrambles to cover up.

If you want to believe they had sex that is fine, but unless Joss confirms it I cannot see any evidence that they definitely did. Not in the shooting script and not in the final aired episode. I think it would be disgusting if they did and as far as I am concerned it would be rape. I think Buffy would have considered it as such too and would not have let it go with a "oh well, it was a magic jacket. Being taken advantage of that way happens."
