Season 3, all the way! All the way until Connor comes back as a teenager, it's a bloody masterpiece! Cordelia grows up, Wesley and Gunn become likeable... and the addition of Fred and Lorne to the group created such a wonderful dynamic. It just had so much drama and excellent plot lines. 'Lullaby' has one of my favourite moments of either series as well Yes season 3. I loved every season but this one was the best. Especially with the introduction of Fred. All the great characters were together and non-evil. I hated the evil-Cordy storyline in season 4.

I love season 4. It was the only season I could actually stand to watch over and over again. That's so funny, because it's the only season I can't watch over and over. In fact, I can't stand to watch it at all. The first time it aired, I was riveted because it was suspenseful to find out what would happen. But the way it played out, well, I disliked it immensely. Even Charisma and David Boreanaz argued with Joss over making Cordy go evil. And many believe that this strong stance is what lost Charisma her job. However, I think her instincts were exactly right.

I couldn't stand Cordy being evil at all, it really ruined her character for me. I really liked her in Seasons 1-3 (except for her relationship with Angel, I didn't much care for them as a couple), season 4 was a disappointment for me with Cordy. Charisma and David were right in arguing about Cordy going evil, I think it would have played better another way. If Cordy hadn't gone evil I would have loved season 4.

I have to go with Season 5. Of course, I liked the addition of Spike. I thought there was a nice balance between comedy episodes(Smile Time, Harm's Way) and the heavy drama (You're Welcome, Fred's death). I also really enjoyed Season 2 with the great flashback episodes and addition of Drusilla and Darla. And the Pylean arc gradually grew on me too. Numfar!!

I absolutely loved the Noir inspired feel of season one, but then they tossed that in the garbage and it took to the 5th season to get on track again.
Season 5 felt the closest to Buffy so that's my favorite also because of Spike, sorry I love that guy! Which is surprising becuase it took me a loooonnnng time to get into Buffy because of Spike and Angel..they look too pretty in all the print media! I really could go the rest of my life with out seeing the James Marsters "pout" that is featured in EVERY Spike photo!

For me it is a choice between Season 2 and Season 5. I liked Season 2 because of the Darla/Drusilla thing, but also I felt like the show came into its own and it had seperated itself from the style of Buffy (which is hard for a spin-off to do).
Season 5 was great, the addition of Harmony, Spike and a puppet gave the show some classic episodes. I missed Cordy, but her final episode wouldn't of been as heartbreakingly brilliant if she'd been around. Plus the Spangel enuendos were just plain HOT! ;D
I know it wasn't asked, but I thought I'd mention my least favorite season. It was Season 4. The first time round I hated it from the moment 'The Beast' came into it. After watching it again recently it wasn't as bad, but it just wasn't "Angel" and had no direction whatsoever (which I understand was out of their control, but it still reflects on the quality).

Season 5 for me. It was the season that hooked me on Angel and made me go back and watch the others. I watched because of Spike because i loved him on buffy and was keen to see how they would manage his return. Every episode in the series is very good and Destiny and Damage and Timebomb are excellent IMO. Every episode has sub-textual meaning and really lends itself to multiple viewings. Loved the ending, though i have mixed feelings about Angel's chosen course of action, but that's another story. another season (or two) of Angel would have been brilliant and i still think it's a tragedy that the network cancelled it.

My favorite is season 5 because of the introduction of Spike. Seeing him and Angel fight all the time is so great.
My second favorite would have to be season 2. I love the Pylea stuff and Darla and Druscilla.

Season 1, followed by season 5. It's why I like Angel more than Buffy, because it starts and ends way stronger than Buffy which is important for replay value.

I can't choose. It would have been five except no Cordy.

Season five, by a long way. Some interesting themes, Lorne and Gunn actually have something to do, the Fred / Illyria storyline is probably the best thing they ever did and Charisma Carpenter suddenly learned to act whilst she was in that coma. I adore Harmony, too.
Also, David Boreanaz is way hot in season five.

It was a tough decision between seasons 1 and 5 for me, but I have to go with season 1. L-O-V-E-D it. The family feel made it really good in my opinion. Every episode was enjoyable. Also the inclusion of Buffy and Faith in 2 episodes each and Wesley, Cordy and Angel working together as a team was fantastic! I Will Remember You is one of my favourite Angel episodes ever. Season 5 comes in a close second, because I love Illyria and Spike and Harmony on the show was great! This was the first season I watched on the air because Spike was included and it didn't disappoint. Although each season was pretty great in it's own way.

I liked S5 the best, but they were all excellent. I guess the idea that they had virtually unlimited resources available was exciting, and it was interesting since they had to constantly second guess each move.
The stories were refreshing after season 4's gut-wrenching progression. There was a lot of pain and irony, but it wasn't constantly darker throughout the entire season. I can't forget Fred, but I'm not sure how to say it.
I found the last few episodes bittersweet since it was the end, but they went out fighting. "Not Fade Away" is probably my favorite episode of the entire series. There's something about fighting to do the right thing regardless of the consequences that gets to me.

Season 3 followed by season 4.
I loved the storyline, and season 3 was really the only season whose arc wasn't disrupted by production issues (well, season 1 as well, but I can't say season 1 is on the same level story wise as the other seasons).
The whole Connor story was heartbreaking, and done to perfection IMO. Yeah, you may not like Connor, but he does have a reason for being the way he is. Which is why I love seeing him in Season 5 so much, especially in "Not Fade Away".

Love Connor's fall in season 4. What I love about the character is what a great guy he is, and how mislead he's been his whole life. It's tragic. Like the post above, seeing him in season 5 is fantastic as it shows the guy he should have been.

Also, David Boreanaz is way hot in season five. Yes he is. I went with Season 5. It had, in my opinion, some of the best episodes of the series run (You're Welcome, A Hole in the World).
