I'm coming from the belief that things happen because people make it happen. We'll never know if this will work until we actually try.

Anyway, I think it's a great idea. I'd love to see a really awesome Buffy and/or Angel game out there. I definitely think there's a market for it.

I also agree that there should be story involved in this. Thats what will make the game good. There's lots of fighting games out there, what makes them unique is the story.

So far I liked the idea of the player/s being stuck in hell and having to fight their way out. That was pretty cool, but that would kind of make the game more Angel focused.

My addition is that I'd like there to be mulitple story lines (one of which could be the hell one) that you as a player could follow. For example have different scenerios that play out like an episode or arc. You know big bad causes trouble, have to go to various locations to find clues, fight off minions, and then face off with the main villain after defeating various obstacles. There can be different levels of difficulty for each scenerio. Winning battles or beating a villain can unlock the other characters, both allies & villains, or even unlock new storylines. There could be multiplayer features...do your investigating and demon fighting with a friend.

Um are we doing just a Buffy game? Or is it combined with Angel... Because I think that would be better. And if we did we would have to add Wesley, Gunn, Cordelia, Lorne, Fred, Illyria, Lilah, Connor, etc... ( i know some are on the list, I'm just stating).. And we could also add the hotel, and Wolfram and Hart.. I guess it could mainly be about Buffy, but once you beat the story mode on like expert or something that's really hard, you could unlock this package of Angel characters.

Ok so more special unlockables should be Werewolf Oz, Johnathan, Glory, and Principal Snyder.

More playables should be Renee, and the Wesley from Buffy (when he's all weak and stupid)

Iv gotta agree with henz here...good on you guys for trying to get this kind of thing off the ground but personally I dont think it would be that good. Something like this if it did actually happen which is very doubtful wouldnt really fall into the hands of a good quality games designer company and would end up as kinda trashy and not as extensive etc as the fans would want like the ideas everyone is coming up with now. plus the fact that there are hundreds of these games out already i highly doubt it would sell that well.

also storyline is very important despite the fact that mikey says hardly anyone buys games for story which is a lie anyway. A plot is vital in making this kind of thing working.

It's a Buffy game. Adding the cast of Angel would make the cast too big and take away from having fun unlockable Buffy characters. I think the only people from Angel should be Angel and maybe Illyria. Remember every Angel person is taking away a spot from someone.

Why does this game just be with buffy character's? I personally think if you add Illyria you should add Angel character's.

Okay for everybody who doesn't think this is going anywhere or won't work, you have a right to your opinion. And you don't have to be involved. But I'd hate for that to ruin the enthusiasm of those who want to use their creativity in this project. A LOT of ideas don't get realized, but even more ideas that could've been great never happen because people doubt themselves and never try. So all those people who want to try - go go GO!

I think for this thread to really be constructive and productive creatively, we need people to offer criticisms as well as suggestions.

Potential Storylines that Set the Stage:

1. The First Evil is going back through time and giving a hand to all the Big Bads of the Buffyverse.

It's plan is to go back through time to the major battles and give the evil doers knowledge of how the battle unfolds. So they'll be expecting all of Buffy and the Scoobies moves. Meaning that the epic battles have to be refought in a different manner. To counter the First Evil, Willow is able to send the essence of the fighters from present day back to the time of the battle (has anyone watched the Lost episode 'The Constant' where Desmond's consciousness travels through time).

So Angelus and Dru would know about the rocket launcher, and the Master would know that Buffy would be revived and come back to kill him. But on the good guys side, Willow would have all her witchy powers and Buffy would be a more experienced slayer, etc.

This would explain why Willow would have all these cool powers of the season-8 era while she was fighting some Big Bad from the early seasons of the show. Or why a Nick Fury-esque Xander could actually be good in a fight against a Big Bad.

It could even start out at the Season 8 Scotland Castle, and depending on whichever character you're playing will be the one to be sent back to the location you want.

Good guy vs. Good guy battles - Maybe the First Evil has a spell that allows them to possess and control someone, like the Spike trigger only less lame. Or they could simply be training sessions.





2. A mystical/virtual training Danger Room out of control.

The whole game could be an X-men like Danger Room where there's a mystical/virtual training room in the Scotland Castle that Willow created. It cheapens the reality of the fights against dead Big Bads...though maybe something goes wrong with the spell (as Willow's spells often do) and there's temporal fissure allowing the real Big Bads to time travel into the Danger Room. So they have to be defeated or all be unleashed on the Present Day world. The temporal fissure could have been caused by the First, who's come back to destroy the Slayer Army by bringing back the Hall of Fame evil from all 7 seasons. Though the First isn't needed to create the scenario, another baddy could've done it or it could have happened accidentally.


2-player fights between good guys could be seen as sparring sessions in the Mystical Training Room. Like Buffy vs. non-evil Faith, or Buffy vs non-evil Angel. Again you could pick the location.

I love your first potential idea, but we still have to figure a way we would bring back the "good" dead character's that are to be playable. EX: Cordelia, Anya, Tara etc...

It seems like more Bad Guys are needed. Maybe some of them are only in the "Story" mode, when you are playing as one of the Scoobies. A few thoughts:

Angelus
Kakistos
Mr. Trick
The Judge (although how do you fight him if you can't touch him? Rocker Launcher?)
The villains from "What's my Line"-can't remember their names, but there's the bug guy, and the cop
Villains from Homecoming-The German guys, Yellow Spiny guy
The Trio-Fight them all at once

That's all I can think of right now.

Hi, I think the fighting game would be great (any buffy game I would say). The only thing that I would consider a difficulty is that the characters are supose to have different strengths I mean how would be explain a fight of Xander against Glory or Andrew against Willow? I am sure some of you guys would come with a good idea.

I've always had the desire to have an adventure game similar to the first Buffy game with the scooby gang at the library but in this case you could play as giles and you would have a team of different slayers (Buffy, Faith, Kennedy, etc for example) and for each mission you can select which slayer you wanna send to that mission and it that case play as that slayer.

The second idea would be an "xmen legends" type of game where you have an army of slayers to play with and you can form a team of 4 and through the game you can change from one slayer to another

Well I hope we get a Buffy game soon, let's hope the Buffy comics keep doing well so we can get more stuff

I really like this idea.
Its different to the other buffy games, and honestly, i think it would be more popular, especially for the non fans.
I wouldnt like it Season 8 wise, i really dont like that story, too far fetched for our beloved slayer and her tv antics.

but i would definately buy the game.

I don't think we should have The First in the game though. At least not as the Big Bad. Because they can't fight the First, so it can't be the boss in a fighting game.

As far as Angel characters...we should either choose to pick 1 or 2 fan favorites to throw in, or just completely scrap them all together. This is a Buffy game, not a crossover game. Buffy is more marketable, for one. And two, having the Angel characters is just way too many characters. So the "dead" or "Not there" good guys can help fight the big bad's that returned....

I love this idea SO much. I can't believe it doesn't already exist! I've wanted a new Buffy game for ages, and although it sounds like I'm in the minority I LOVED chaos bleeds...

Anyway, about the characters, I do get what you mean (mikey) about it being easier to market as Buffy, but IMO it would be a lot cooler to have the main cast of both Buffy and Angel, with fewer random 'just a couple of episodes' people. It could even still be promoted and everything as a Buffy game...
But there are people who have just watched Angel not Buffy... so having the main credited casts of these 2 big shows (+ baddies) would be better than having some main cast and some randomer ones that only us 'die-hard' fans would remember. Do I make sense? Lol. But as I said that's just my opinion, just throwing ideas around!

Also, how many playable characters do the games this is being based on actually have?

AND I personally, would steer clear of Season 8 stuff. Because a fairly sized percentage of the Buffy viewers would have just been casual viewers, not proper 'fan' fans. It could be a bit confusing, and as you said about being easier to market, I think not having Season 8 stuff would also do that.

Most of the skins are like older versions of themselves (particularly the Angel characters, as they changed/developed the most).

And notice that there are still more Buffy characters than Angel, 11 compared to 8.

But wouldn't that be SO cool! I'm excited about it just reading this post!
