Scott Allie just released the title of this issue, "Living Doll", in the past Q&A, so I thought I'd open up the original discussion thread for this issue. Doug Petrie, formerly a writer and director on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series, joins Buffy Season Eight with "Living Doll." The spell little Dawnie got whacked with by the Thricewise demon she angered just keeps . . . evolving. First, she's a giant; then, she's a centaur; now, she's a . . . what?! Buffy, ever busy saving the world, will finally have to take action regarding her little sis when Dawn's mysterious disappearance makes it a priority. At least, she better be in some sort of danger, or Buffy's going to kick her butt for wasting precious time acting like an attention-seeking teen -- which is what Dawn is, after all.40 pages, $2.99, in stores on May 6 |

Issue #25 would be an excellent issue for some Twilighty revealy goodness. I am sure we will find out who he is by issue #30.

Ah! Want an EPIC emote? I can do that, but give me an idea...maybe Buffy looking epic?
Anyway my NEW theory is that Ethan Rayne is Twilight, a re-animated dead person! Thus making him a living doll, a puppet for an even higher authority we don't know of yet?!?!?!? No...?
Okay well the other theory is that Dawn will be turned into a Puppet. Puppet Dawn. Doll Dawn.

Another great title! "Living Doll", I just love the sound of it. I've been waiting for Doug Petrie's contribution to this series since the beginning. I'm interested to see which way this story goes, considering it focuses on Xander & Dawn, is it going to be in the same vein as "Potential" which is similar to the scenes Dawn & Xander shared in "Anywhere But Here", or will it be more action and adventure, like their story in the "Time of Your Life" arc.
It's also intriguing as to how Twilight will be involved in this story. I still have a feeling he could have a connection to Dawn, considering the similarities in their respective names, it's obvious yes, but it will still make for a very interesting story.
The idea that this could be another of Dawn's transformations is also very fascinating. This could be Dawn's final transformation. Speaking of that, does anyone have an opinion on the significance of Dawn becoming a centuar? Dawn as a giant I get. It's hilarious, the subtext was so obvious that it was TEXT, which fueled the humour of the situation. But Dawn as a centuar, funny, but I can't seem to "get" any other meaning from this. Is there any allegorical or metaphorical aspects to this transformation that I'm just missing?

I still get queesy when I hear Dawn, and Xander, and relationship in the same sentence. I always picture the scene in Real Me when Dawn has the ice cream on her face while looking at Xander. |
