I watched it from the beginning when it started in Britain.
I remember Id secretly record it cos my mum didn't want me watching it. I was one of those disturbed 'horror' obssessed kids so saw the word vampire in an ad for it and thought I must see this!
It took me muchhh begging for her to buy me the season 2 boxset part 2 I remember because it was a 15 with the whole Jenny Calendar neck snappage drama.lol.
So yeh been watching it since then...pretty much grew up from the age of about 10 watching it.

I started watching December '07. I know it was only one year ago but i already know everything there is to know about buffy. The story goes like this... I am currently 15 and live in Ireland. When Buffy originaly aired season 5-8 i showed slight interest and seen the odd episode on TV. The main reason is because i was only 8-10 years old and didnt understand alot of stuff. I have always been a massive fan of Charmed since it originally aired season one when i was a kid and i watched it every week. When Charmed ended i bought all the DVDs and after about a year I new every episode inside out and so i wanted a new show to get hooked on lol. Buffy was the obviouse choice because I used to remember the few episodes i seen when i was a kid and think to myself 'that was amazing'. The problem was that Buffy was no longer airing in Ireland/UK and so i had to save for all the dvds. I had enough money for the season one boxset in December 2007 and bought it online, i then later bought seasons 2 and 3. After i watched the first three seasons i knew i had to watch all the seasons so my mum got me the complete season 1-7 boxset for christmas 2008 (last month). Already i have watched all the episodes and all the special features, bought back issues of the magazines and comics online and never stop singing the songs from 'Once More, With Feeling'. I think my story proves that although the TV programme is over Buffy will last forever and will be introduced to all generations. Even though the show had been over for more than three years before i started watching it, it has still become a part of my life and i love it. Buffy is not just a tv programme its a part of my life (its my safety blanket)

I started watching in 2001, just after my daughter was born. I'd had several friends who were avid watchers for years, but I was never interested since I never watched television at all, didn't care much for the movie when it came out, and couldn't imagine anything intelligent evolving from it. But finally out of curiosity, I asked one of my friends if I could borrow the first season. I thought it was ok, better than I expected, but I certainly didn't get all the hype. The characters and dialogue were intriguing though, enough to keep me interested through the second season. And then there was Innocence, and this hip, nifty little show suddenly got a whole lot serious. There were stakes, and they were high, and in spite of myself I got invested, and by Becoming Part II, I was lost. It's funny - way back then, I could see the trouble I was in, and I was kind of appalled by it. I was falling in love, hard, with a tv show. I have a thing about stories. I think they're integral to who we are as a species. Every single human culture I've ever heard of, since the dawn of man has had two things in common: music, and stories. We need them. They're part of who we are, and the things we learn from them, the emotions we experience as the story is told, are no less valid for being based on a fiction. Truth is truth, whether or not it's fact... and here were truths, and lessons about what it means to be human, in this tv show with a goofy name. And I was kind of bemused to be hit so hard, since I'd written off tv in 1993 as nothing but vapid, soul-sucking trash. (I've since rescinded this snooty attitude. There was plenty of good tv out there, I just wasn't watching it.) So I burned fanatically through the rest of Buffy and Angel, and then Firefly on dvd, and realized eventually that I'd found the love of my life, storywise. I don't think I'll ever find a mythos that'll affect me as deeply as the Buffyverse. I'm not sure I want to. There've been things in those shows that have changed the way I view the world, taught me about the kind of person I want to be, and I think that's the ultimate accomplishment of any story. It's affected the way I view the world, and anyone who knows me knows that Buffy is a part of who I am. Buffy is not just a tv programme its a part of my life (its my safety blanket) Geez, thank goodness I'm not the only one. Sometimes I think I may be a little obsessed.... ;D

I knew about Buffy for a couple of years before I became a fan, and I started watching near the end of S6 and during S7. I bought the DVD sets of 1-5 before realizing that I didn't have all of the DVD's yet, so to keep occupied until S6 came out I started watching Angel DVD's. Before Buffy ended, I saw in the TV Guide that Buffy and Spike were supposed to give up their powers in the end and run away together, and when I found out that that wasn't the case, I wasn't so disappointed because both shows ended better than one would expect.
So to answer the question, I became a fan of Buffy not long after I overcame health problems, and I think the female empowerment aspect of the show inspired me to heal quickly.

I love Spike and Buffys relationship alot more than Buffy and Angels. Spike is so cute and caring (and hot lol) when he has a soul. When he held Buffy in his arms while she slept at the end of season 7 and said it was the best night of his life i almost cried lol

i think it was back in 2002 when my brother had bought Angel season 1 on DVD, and we'd sit and watch an episode each night with my mom. i'd of been about 11 or 12, and i'd heard the term 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' but i had no idea what the hell it was. so after watching season 1 of Angel and bits of season 2 i kind of forgot about watching it.
then summer '07 i just finished watching Xena and saw people who love Xena recommending Buffy, so i started watching Buffy and fell in love.

Xena was a big badass then went onto the path of redemption and picked up her new best bud Gabrielle along the way.
it was set way back when, has a lot of greek mythology, etc.
it was a spin-off of Hercules.

With the very first episode. I had seen the movie before and I heard the talk of there being a BtVS show. I watched it right when it first aired and I was instantly hooked.

I started watching when it first aired on BBC2. I remembers seeing the trailers for it and thinking it looked really cool, so I recorded the first episode while watching it and was so glad I did, because I loved it! Then I became 'Buffy girl' to everyone, buying everything, talking about it all the time, etc. I must have been 13 or 14 at the time.
