This topic always interested me. I've heard about the scrapped episode in season 7 where Buffy is granted a wish and she brings Tara back. I've also heard of a scrapped season 6 episode where the scoobies go back in time to high school.
Do you guys know more?

i knew they always wanted Doyle to return as a big bad in Angel... but other than that, the Chosen/Tara situation, and Corrupt, the angel episode where cordy goes undercover as a hooker.

There is an interview with Kristine Sutherland in one of those Buffy guide books, and she said they planned to do an episode in Season 2 where Joyce gets possessed and becomes the "mother from hell", but that was sadly scrapped.
And here is a Doug Petrie excerpt from the same guide (Watcher's Guide Vol. 2): [/size]

Doppleganger Buffy sounds like it would have been a lot of fun.

Isn't the idea about the Scoobies going back what was supposed to be the animated series/now "After these messages..."? It would make sense for that. I've heard another idea was that Buffy wanted to stay in the HS years due to her mom being there, but the other Scoobies would've taken her back.
I wish that Willow was able to speak to Tara in Chosen. That would've been a wonderful add-in, I've not heard of it before this thread.

I've heard of a whole alternate season five, where Xander was Glory instead of Ben, Willow turned fully evil and was the one to bleed Dawn, and Spike sired Buffy. Also, the latter halves of Buffy season five and Angel season two were going to closely interlinked, with Xander and Willow visiting Caritas to get advice from Lorne and other crossovers. I'm much happier with what we got, but it's still very cool hearing about what could have been. I'm not sure how official it was though, I read about it on Whedonesque from someone who had kept an archive of old spoilers.
I also heard that Oz was going to come back as a cast regular in season six of Angel. I just heard that from a friend though, so I have no idea if it's true or not.

i don't think spike would ever sire buffy, he loves her and she wouldn't have a soul or a super-secret government chip, so cataclysmic event like a vampire-vampire slayer would probably result in either spike dying from trying to sire a slayer or buffy to become the most powerful thing ever... even when he was a big bad... there was much more glory in killing a slayer than turning her...
evilwillowrocker: i heard the reason Amber didn't get to the finale is because Joss wanted it to end in a certain way and he wanted Tara to be alive and stuff, but by the time he had thought of the whole PTB give buffy a wish and she uses it to bring Tara back, it was too late... i think at that point, they had already brought back faith.
and i also heard that the writers wrote a version of Chosen where right after Willow says "Oh... My... Goddess!" her soul was transported to limbo (a la Prue and Andy in Charmed season 1) and she got to say goodbye... and then Kennedy died. Happy Endings All Around!!!
and i'm like 90% sure that in the original layout for season 8, Anya was still alive, but i think joss thought it would be too much of a stretch...
and i know Anya was supposed to die in The Gift and they shot a scene with her dead in Xander's arms while they walk to buffy's corpse and a scene where she was still alive... and i know Sunnydale was supposed to be destroyed (just like in Chosen) in The Gift, killing everyone anyway... that would be in Joss' style, to kill off all of teh characters.

The episode of Joyce as the mother from hell would've been awesome! I imagine it in the same vein as Kathy the roommate from hell in season four. That episode "Living Conditions" is one of the funniest episodes of the series!
I think I heard somewhere of a scrapped idea of Buffy getting shrunk down- a la 'honey, I shrunk the kids'

Whoah I never knew all of these things could've happened! I love the idea of Willow going to limbo to visit Tara in "Chosen".

This is probably the wrong thread for this, but I just have to say that, yes, Spike would probably want Buffy with a soul so she would be able to love, but I think that if he had gotten desperate enough in season 6 he would have turned her if given a chance, but she's just to strong. I mean, he tried to rape her, so we can see that he can act pretty... desperate when needed. I'm not sure if he would have dared to, considering what happened to his mom (which propably wasn't planned by the writers in season 5 or 6) but if he hadn't thought of the soulplan, I'm pretty sure that after awhile of Buffy saying no, he would have tried to sire her so he could have atleast have a part of her. I hope I'm wrong, because I still want Spike's love to be "pure", that her soul is part of what he loves about her, but I'm realistic. Buffy being turned or not, that alternative season sounds kick ass. I'm glad that it didn't go that dark tough. To me, season 5 as it is, is the last "happy" season.

I think it would be a cool idea to SHOW Tara being stuck in limbo for some reason in season eight. Willow could still say Goodbye to her. The fact that the First never used Tara's true form could be a play off of Tara's form wasn't available to use.
Just a random thought for more closure for Tara fans.

I thought it would have been interesting but I suppose the state of Limbo is around religion so when it comes down to religion it might have caused a level of problems I don't see why that would cause problems. Several different types of religion has been dealt with and discussed on the show. There are even several times that certain religious beliefs are mocked for humor purposes. EDIT: I had to fix one of my subject/verb agreements in a sentence.

I think I heard somewhere of a scrapped idea of Buffy getting shrunk down- a la 'honey, I shrunk the kids' I believe the shrunked buffy episode was a script for the animated tv show that got scrapped. Also all that alternate season 5 stuff sounds insane and I can safely say i much prefer what we got. It sounds like overactive fanfic if you ask me. Spike siring buffy...? ermmm no thanks. Also the doppelganger buffy sounds way to cliche especially with a mirror sucking her in etc...but the mum from hell ep with joyce sounds like it would have been great fun! And a return to high school in season 6 would have been a welcome break from the doom and gloom of that season.

I found the site containing the old spoilers. Not everything I mentioned is there, but the Buffy-getting-sired thing is. Not sure where I heard the other stuff. cultureconundrum.wordpress.com/2009/02/19/buffy-and-angel-foilers/I also remember hearing that the "end of magic" flashback in Fray was supposed to tie into the end of season seven, but the story completely changed.

Wow, that was such a cool read! Thanks for posting!
Some of those things would have been cool, especially Kate still helping Angel, Anya helping Willow and Faith's death. Hank going after Dawn would have been interesting too, but I am more than happy with what we got in the last episodes of Season 5. I think they are the best serialized episodes of the series and the one's I get excited to watch most.
