Btw, that article reeks of misinformed bullshit. Especially with the source calling SMG "Michelle" the whole time. WTF? No one has ever referred to her as such, at least in the whole 11 years that I've been a fan of hers.

Yeah, I'm totally convinced that this article is bullshit. But I'm kinda divided about where it would be best for the movie to take place. Between s7 and s8 could work, if it were a small movie, like a made-for-tv. If it were a theater-movie, like the last X-Files, it really shouldn't take place between seasons 7 and 8 'cause knowing what happens next would take most of the epicness of it.
The new X-Files was bloody awful because it didn't have any edge to it. No big link with the mythology. Just a big, long (and REALLY bad) episode. So, if a Buffy movie happens, it shouldn't be a link. It should be something bloody epic and unpredictable.
But if the comics were thrown away for that to happen, well, I'd be REAALLLY upset. I guess I'm one of those canon-freaks... Also, I'm a comic writer and I dream of working at Dark Horse, so I couldn't feel other than outraged... xD

Agree that any story between seasons 7 and 8 would be pointless. I know a lot of fans were upset that we didn't see how the Slayer organization was formed, Dawn's relationship with Kenny, etc... but we just don't need to see all that. It speaks for itself, we don't need it spoon-fed to us. Then there's the fact that Xander was with Dracula for a year and Willow was MIA almost the whole time... Btw, that article reeks of misinformed bullshit. i 100% agree. i think the comic books are doing well and a movie about season 8 might disrupt or destroy all that.

It would horrible if they ever made a movie and destroyed the comic canon. I would cry. Surely Joss'd have more faithfulness to his fans than that? Esp, cos the movie would be FOR fans.
Yeah I'm convinced it's not going to happen, but it'd be interesting if it dd.

i feel like joss is too much of a geek to just throw away all of the comic-ness... this article = 100% pure bullshit. honestly, SMG said she wouldn't like to do anything with buffy... unless the script was amazing.

This goofy article about babies and Michelle somebody reads like a leftover April Fool's Day joke.
As shishkarobb at Whedonesque said, "I'll believe there's going to be a Buffy movie when Jose officially announces it."

You've mis-read. SMG said that she would consider it if the script was good enough btw guys, here's an article from Feb: www.ifmagazine.com/new.asp?article=7549Considering it's been 2 months since publishing, it's possible Joss changed his mind. But with Aly being a mom now, SMG going back to TV, blah blah blah, chances are VERY slim.

Thanks for the link Trey, but that article sounds a lot lot truer than this one. I'm thinking no movie.

To not be annoyed at the throwing away of the comics, what if the film was an adaptation of the comics? Like missing out the random Stories, like Andrews, and the last issue with Faith and Giles, it would still be something canon but something extra as us as comics readers know about. The film could be based around Twilight vs Buffy with undertones of the public being in support of vampires, which in this day and age with films such as "Twilight" i think would be really REALLY good.

If they are going to crap all over the comics then don't do it. I wouldn't mind seeing 'the long way home' being turned into a movie and if it were a sucess maybe bring the series back for a small run but alot of people who had never seen buffy would not go and see it. With the sucess of Watchmen why don't they turn the graphic novel FRAY into a movie. You don't need to know anything about Buffy to go and see it and could make more people join the buffyverse.

The film could be based around Twilight vs Buffy with undertones of the public being in support of vampires, which in this day and age with films such as "Twilight" i think would be really REALLY good. I actually had this idea for a second, but then I realized it would be REALLY pointless. Good adaptations are about a new perspective, a different storyteller's take on a story already told (like Hellboy, or the new Batman, or Watchmen). But if they made a Buffy adaptation, it would still be Joss' view, the same one he has in the comics. The difference is it would be shorter, and have sounds and actors and not-so-high-budget-CGIs. I wouldn't buy it at all. If Buffy were never a tv show, just a comic book, and then some filmmaker (other than Joss, of course) made it into a movie, then it could work. Just like they're making movies out of Y the Last Man (and even though BKV is involved with the script, he won't direct it). So, in my opinion, adaptations only work when you have a different storyteller behind every version of the story, and not just a change of narrative language. ;D (But I confess it would be REALLY cool to see Sarah in those hot outfits, and Alyson flying... )

It's the line he gives whenever he's asked. That there'll be no movie because nobody has approached him with bags of money. That's his way of saying "I'm so sad. But completely open to negotiation. Please bring the bags of money as quickly as possible." The guy loves Buffy. No, wait, not love. Buffy is life. Buffy is him, he is Buffy, he's as much a part of her as she's a part of him. I think he'll always be doing something Buffy story related; to not means he's just doing something that he hasn't published. I know he's super busy, but I think if the money was there, he would find a way. It's sad I'm not super rich, because I would do it.
