There is a spike movie rumour??? huh? After Angel and Buffy went off the air, a number of other productions were considered, one of them being a movie about Spike. Haven't heard any news on it since 2006, though. |

Yeah, I remember when the Spike movie news came out. It seemed awesome, and it was way before Joss started season 8... But then it didn't happen. And then there was news about a Ripper tv show from BBC, and Joss spoke 'bout it as possibly happening...
...and then it didn't T_T

Wow that would have been awesome. I guess Joss got to tell is Spike story in Atf (well Brian TOLD it but the effect was the same).
As for the Ripper tv show, damn that would've been awesome!

theyre making a ripper tv movie for the bbc... it was announced at comiccon last year.

There hasn't been any information in a long, long time, and Joss hasn't shown any interest in ever starting it back up again, sadly. It was actually the 2007 ComicCon when we last heard anything, and then that was it. |

Nope, in 2007 it was announced that Ripper would be a 90-minute TV special airing on the BBC network in Fall of 2008. That was the last we heard about it, and considering it has been two years almost and Joss has said he is just too busy to do it, it most likely won't happen. Just another project like the Faith series and Spike movie that fell to the wayside. |

It's so unfair that they get our hopes up and never deliver!
Comics are good, but all these other projects would have been worth almost more than the comics... well to me anyway.

Its probably just a rumour which is a little annoying. I definatly think IF the money was there the film would happen Ill bet all the players involved would get over any concerns quickly for the right deal. With the amount of crap hollywood churns out each year you'd think they would gamble on a btvs project especially with all the kids loving twilight just now.
I actually like the idea of a stand alone film with buffy as a vengefull mother kinda kill bill-esque. Comics be damned (and i love the comics)

On the news this morning a "Buffy Movie" was in talks. I can't remember the guys name but he does all the movie buzz for NBN in Australia - He talked about the movie set in the future with Buffy having a kid of her own that takes on the roll of her mother, Buffy Summers. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but I just thought I'd let you all know.

Oh and he said that Sarah Michelle Gellar said that her career in movies hasn't been all that she hoped for and that if they do decide to make a Buffy movie she wouldn't so no.  |

SMG is starting a new pilot for HBO. It could be the next Sex and the City, who knows. And even if it isn't, well, I don't think she wants to be remembered as one-hit actress. She'll pursue different things, and she's right...

I am glad that its not happening and also a little sad. I know it could be successful, especially now with Twilights success, but I am also glad that we can still have the comics looked to as canon.
