I haven't looked at those links yet...so i don't wanna get my hopes up too high, but this would be awesome! (the movie anyway, not sure how i'd feel about springing the Buffy motherhood on me in one movie, but then again how many times was poor Cordy just up and bangulated and pregnatized?lol) But first off, are you sure this wasn't an April Fool's Day joke? That day is my birthday, (and i have two older brothers) so i have always been naturally paranoid of absolutely everything NOT being real at least until the middle (or the end) of the month, lol. I hope this is true though, cause that would be like a freaking holiday for all of us fans. Stampedes might ensue even! And P.S. i would also like to add that i NEVER thought i'd see the day when David Duchovny would return to do another X-files movie...but it did happen, so that keeps an ember in my heart aglow for a Buffy and/or Angel movie. I would LOVE to see it as an epic trilogy with each movie 3 hours long like Lord of The Rings, i think Joss would have an awesome time with that and not run out of ideas.

I'd love to know if a movie would continue on AFTER the canon comics??? That would be such a big thing. You'd asume so, but what if they just went with the canon tv shows. That would be so confusing! Hehe. Well I'm certain they need to do it soon if they're gonna do it, because DB neeeeeeeeeeeds to be in it, nd if they wait 10 yrs he wont be a young vampire anymore!!! OOOhh shanshu, he could be human And Marsters of course!!! Also, if Aly just had baby would she really be up for this?

If it continued after the comics, it would have to continue in a vague way. It couldn't really reference anything directly as it would alienate too large a proportion of its potential audience. That is pretty true of the show also. Basically it'd have to stand quite alone from the past. Serenity did it brilliantly though so I'd have no fears.

This kind of news has been around since the show is over. I don't buy it. Actually, in the past, I reaallly wanted it to be true (never was), but now, I don't know if I do.
When someone asked Scott Allie about Joss' comments of a Buffy movie in the Paley Reunion (that he'd throw away the entire comics storyline if he had a chance to make a movie), Scott said something like "you'll make me cry". And that's what I feel too when I think of it.
Sure, Joss' is a filmmaker above all else, and I understand, but I love comics as much as I love TV, and I REALLY see season 8 as official, as real deal. Joss sounds like he sees it as official until he can make a movie. I hope he didn't really mean that. I'd LOVE to see a movie too, but only if it means that the comics' canon would be totally respected (something taking place after it or, most likely, between the show and the comics). If it wasn't, I'd feel VERY cheated. All those years following the comics with the same passion and delight that I have for the tv seasons, and then Joss goes and BAM "Forget aaalll about it. It's all a big fat long joke. None of this happened".
Joss would REALLY lose a fan here. But Joss is my grand-master, and he almost never let me down in all these years. I understand his passion for movies, but I'm sure his comment at the Paley Reunion wasn't well thought. I'm sure he wouldn't be capable of being that much desrespectful with the sequential art, the fans and the Buffyverse.

If a movie was made, it would make my life complete. Seriously. But it has it's downsides. Buffy with a kid? No. Especially when there's no season-long build up. The kid is just... there. And who would be the father? You couldn't just open up a Buffy movie with her being in love with someone that is not Spike or Angel. I'm unsure if after season 8 would work. Especially since Season 8 isn't done yet. There's also the fact the Joss said if a movie would ever happen, he would throw s8's canonization in the trash which frightens me. I think the best bet is to make a movie that links season 7 and season 8. We missed a whole year and a half. It could end with the gang moving into Scotland Castle.

That would make my life extremely complete. I wish that it could be true but as it's been said, I'll wait till I'm seeing a trailer on the big screen for that. I think that a lovely idea would filling in the blanks between the end of the tv series and the beginning of the comics. That a reallllllly long time, full of interesting stories.
I don't know if I'd like to see as a mom. First, who would be the daddy? That just doesn't fit AT ALL, imo. It would be...just weird. But an obvi older Buffy would be entertaining to me, to see what she's learned after all these years...

No, he said he would throw it out, if it didn't work. That he wouldn't have a problem doing so. Not quite the same as saying he would just throw it out with no consideration at all. A movie linking S7 to S8 would be rather pointless. Do we really want a movie with Buffy robbing banks, looking on Craigslist for a dwelling to house at least 500 girls, procuring lots of furniture from IKEA, buying up the whole of Whole Foods (in my mind, Buffy likes organic, local grown food, don't ask). Yes, I'm making American references here, but you get the point. That there is no point. And at this point... I really DON'T want a movie. If they want to make a movie... make another Firefly/Serenity movie.

These rumors make me mad, why can't it just be something official? I'd kill to see the actors play the characters again. It'd be pure epicness. I agree marcos.damata. I'd also be upset if that happened, but if it did happen I'd get over quickly. The comics would still be there, and while annoying, it could be looked at as two separate continuities. As long as the comic series doesn't end tragically and all of the main cast is still standing, a movie could fit well after.

It could just fill in a part. You can't say that you don't think Buffy had at least one epic adventure in that 18 months that we didn't see.

Throw in a bookstore, and it's like DisneyLand 09 for me! But quite frankly, to answer your question... no... Buffy was probably more involved trying to get stuff together. The decoys on the other hand... those probably had an epic experience, being thrown into such venerated shoes, and then one living la vida Lohan in Rome, while the other leads an underground (literally!) war.

LOL Anyways, a BIG Buffy fan that's a blogger, Trent from pinkisthenewblog.com, has written a post about the possible movie. At least there's more coverage... www.pinkisthenewblog.com/2009/04/is-sarah-michelle-gellar-ready-to-make-a-buffy-movie

I'm sorry but a movie taking place between season 7 & season 8 would seem so pointless. When we know where the characters end up in season 8, the story in between is rather irrelevant-for a big screen movie at least! If we already know how the movie is going to end, there's really no suspense and the suspense of not knowing what's going to happen in the buffyverse is something a buffy movie would need w/o a doubt.

Agree that any story between seasons 7 and 8 would be pointless. I know a lot of fans were upset that we didn't see how the Slayer organization was formed, Dawn's relationship with Kenny, etc... but we just don't need to see all that. It speaks for itself, we don't need it spoon-fed to us. Then there's the fact that Xander was with Dracula for a year and Willow was MIA almost the whole time...
Btw, that article reeks of misinformed bullshit.
