No confirmation yet, but apparently they are thinking of giving Dollhouse a second season to help the series "Find its legs" "While the audience hasn't been as large as expected, it has instead remained stable." "Other factors in favor of the show continuing is that it's not as expensive as other Fox shows. " I dont understand the exact meaning, but it sounds good "Dollhouse" carries a BlipNetwork Stability Index Rating of 92.0, better than every other network genre show currently on television outside of "Reaper" on The CW, which has a 94.7. " Then added at the end "Of course, none of this has been confirmed by Fox, so it should be treated as any rumor would, meaning information can change, or could even be wrong." Just thought id share Source: spoilertv.blogspot.com/2009/04/fox-leaning-toward-dollhouse-renewal.html

It would be wonderful if Fox really has become this forward-thinking. I'm hopeful, but I'll believe it when I see it.
Thursday nights after "Bones" would be the ideal spot for the show.

Thursday nights after "Bones" would be the ideal spot for the show. Eh I don't know about that. Thursday's at 9 may be the worst spot to stick a show, outside of Friday's and Monday's during Football season. It would get crushed by Grey's Anatomy and CSI. Would be up against The Office too. Basically every other network's heavy hitters. If it does come back, it needs to be paired with Fringe, as I think the audiences would connect. Or House, just to get it's overall numbers up from people that stay over from watching House. I am really happy about this news though, as I'll take any good press at this point.

I just read the news and I got totally speechless. Coming from Fox, It would be an amazing surprise!!!! (I try not to be too hopeful because Firefly was painful enough for a lifetime, but I can't help but root really hard for this rumor to come true)...

Ooo that's pretty cool, still wont get my hopes up though. If it does get a second season, I'd rather it just stay right where it is on Fridays. Any other night and it gets the same ratings it'd probably get pulled. Low-expectation Friday nights, please! *Prays FOX orders 13 episodes*.

I was so happy to read this because I'd become convinced a cancellation was coming our way after Echoes ratings dropped a bit. So this has taken me back to a cautiously hopeful state and before I was nearly convinced that badness was on the way.
*hopeful*

Even though I've been a big come-on-guys-don't-lose-hope-yet guy.. I was surprised by this rumor. It's great! I hope we get a full 22-episode season. What are the odds of that?

I am really happy about this news though, as I'll take any good press at this point. Exactly my thoughts. Fringe has had a strong and gradually increasing audience, and also happens to be thematically, and structurally more similar and on par with Dollhouse than Terminator: TSCC. Also really happy with the news as I'd absolutely love to see the series grow.

Thursday nights after "Bones" would be the ideal spot for the show. i agree with Wyndam... it would be competing with The Office, 30 Rock and a whole lot of other shows that are fantastic and get a significantly larger viewership... maybe Wednesdays at 9... that way, it's not competing with anything SUPER awesome, but it can still do well. If it does come back, it needs to be paired with Fringe **GASPS** SCI-FI TUESDAY!!!

I dont believe it either, what kinda network would bring back a show thats dropping viewers every week. I think this is going to get peoples hopes up. I wish it well but shoot if i was FOX and had a show with 3.5 million viewers i would dump it before the first 12 episodes even ran and replaced it with a cops rerun!

They are just basing it on the ratings though and there are a few other reasons why FOX could possibly renew it. The other link has "sources", no matter how ominous and probably untrue it is, but it has been said that he's been right before...

seriously, everyone chill... theres a reason the thread us called "Season 2 RUMORS[/i][/u]"... every one of these posts say possible renewal... i dont mean to play mediator, but it's not a huge deal. if it said "Season 2 Renewal is official", then feel free to freak out and search for things to confirm or deny... plus the ranking for dollhouse isn't terrible so it's completely plausible that there COULD[/u][/i] be a second season.

It's may just be possible that the executives at Fox are looking ahead, beyond the impending death of the disastrously outdated Nielsen ratings system, which was created to measure 1950's television.
Today, with far more diverse media choices and audiences, that just doesn't cut it anymore. Audiences are changing the way they watch their shows, whether the networks like it or not. Adapt, or die. Maybe Fox is choosing to adapt.
The DVR and download numbers, and the promise of a lucrative DVD release, is showing that there is a healthy audience here that is worth leveraging. It may not be the biggest audience, but it's a quality audience. Not all 18-49 year olds are created equal.
The networks are becoming acutely aware that the old ways of doing business are not going to enable them to survive in this environment.
I just can't believe Fox would have spent the money to produce this show, then put it on in this suicidal timeslot unless there was some kind of outside-the-box thinking going on there.

I agree with you, andrewcrosset. Forget Caroline backstory, forget agent Ballard, forget morally-ambigous Topher, forget Alpha ... This: I just can't believe Fox would have spent the money to produce this show, then put it on in this suicidal timeslot unless there was some kind of outside-the-box thinking going on there. ... is the true mistery behind the Dollhouse.
