Was Buffy a turn on?

I thought Joyce was quite sexy too... originally in a "best friend's hot mom" kind of way, but now that I'm much closer to her in age (the age she was on the show, I mean) I can definitely picture her as relationship material.

Except that I find Buffy and Dawn both way too attractive to ever want to be any kind of father figure to them. (Sigh... so old... so very old...)

This is so weird that I found this topic today, because last night I was watching "No Place Like Home" from S6 with my mom, and I was discussing with her why everyone on Buffy is beautiful. Like, SMG is gorgeous, DB also gorgeous, Aly, Amber, Emma, Tony, Charisma, are all like super gorgeous, and I think that Nick Brendan is adorable beyond belief (but then I think he looks like my brother a bit, so I can't help but think he's a cutie cuz my brother is also adorable and conjures happy silly memories lol). I was struck by this last night because that's when we first meet Ben in the hospital, and he's changing in the locker room and has a 'perfect' body. I was stunned at how beautiful everyone is, and they're all in ridiculous physical condition (ahem, mental orgasm at the thought of Marc Blucas/"Riley"....)

Same thing on Angel, CC and Alexis are both beautiful, Spike, Harmony and Doyle prove that even secondary characters are just as gorgeous. It's such a pretty show.

I do agree that the makeup is usually very un-Holllywood, except that in S2-3 + 5 Buffy's hair is too good to be done by herself in the morning before school. On a related note, I think that the cast of Firefly had all really beautiful people as well, but they were all so rugged and real. Well, except for Inara, but then she's hot for a living lol.


Btw, has anyone mentioned how otherworldly the beauty of Juliet Landau is? Cuz, I think she deserves at least that much. Also, Claire Kramer, Elisabeth Rohm (she cannot be human with stunning eyes like that) and can I just say that when I first watched AtS, I stopped watching it because they killed off the most gorgeous man on the show: Glenn Quinn/"Doyle"....mmmm Irish accent + big blue eyes = melting Jen.

Buffy was definitely a turn on back in seasons 1, 2 and 3 and then she got too skinny to be actually considered "hot" in my opinion.

Cordelia was also incredibly sexy in the early seasons of Buffy and Angel.

Faith was number one though, all along. But I would have never tried to date her. Too intimidating.

Willow never was my cup of tea, neither was Tara or Fred.

Anya was very pretty, kinda skinny though.

Harmony was hot too.

As for the male actors, Angel was steaming hot, Xander was really cute but got fatter as the show went along, Spike with a lot of make-up looked ok, nice body. Riley of course was a hunk too.

Gunn was okay though I guess.

I am a straight, married woman, and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Buffy/SMG is hot! She is totally my girl crush! Although I do think that she looked a lot better before she got uber skinny.

I think that everyone on Buffy is attractive and beautiful in their own way.

I can't think of any regular or recurring female cast members on either Buffy or Angel that I didn't find attractive, actually. And in such variety, too. It was like a Whitman's Sampler of sexy.

This seems to be a trademark of Whedon shows... Firefly and Dollhouse are both the same way.

I happen to think that, back at his peak, Spike was literally the most attractive man to ever exist. And for some reason, I found him even hotter than usual in late Buffy season 5 to late season 6...whenever he was onscreen during that time period, all I could think was, "GOOD GOD, THAT MAN IS GORGEOUS!" Unfortunately, his age started to catch up with him in mid-season 7 and Angel season 5, but he was still gorgeous, nonetheless.

As for other men on the cast I found attractive, my main not-Spike crush was on Wesley. I thought he was sort of hot in season 3 of Buffy and seasons 1-3 of Angel, but after he got some stubble? YUM! Doyle and Lindsey were both gorgeous, too, although I preferred Lindsey with shorter hair. Riley looked great after he lost the weird, greasy hair he had in early season 4, as did Gunn before they dressed him up in those ugly, brightly-colored suits when he was in lawyer mode. Angel was damn hot in Buffy season 1 to Angel season 1, but after that, he really didn't do much for me. Xander was really hot in the earlier seasons (especially in season 3 and early season 5, with the tight sweaters and shaggy hair...he looked AMAZING in "Family!" ), but he started to lose it when he bloated up in season 6 and by season 7, I didn't find him attractive at all. Giles was always hot..."Band Candy," anyone? Oh, and, of course, Nathan Fillion...I know it's sort of weird to have the hots for a creepy, evil preacher guy, but I can't help it! He's gorgeous! Plus, my huge crush on Mal makes it absolutely impossible for me to not find him attractive.

I realize that I pretty much just listed the entire male cast, but Joss has an eye for good-looking people! The Firefly and Dollhouse casts are all chock-full of sexy men, too (Tahmoh and Nathan and Alan, oh my!). But, since I feel like I kind of cheated by listing so many people, I'll go ahead and list my top 5:

1. Spike, Spike, Spike!
2. Wesley
3. Doyle
4. Caleb
5. Lindsey

As for the women, I sort of have epic girl-crushes on Amy, Alyson, and Eliza, so Fred, Willow, and Faith are give-ins. Anya was really pretty, too, as were Buffy pre-season 7 and Cordelia when she had longer hair. Drusilla was always very underrated. Tara looked great after they stopped giving her such unflattering hairstyles. I never understood the appeal of Harmony, although I guess I'm not really one to judge.

So, my top 5:
1. Fred
2. Willow
3. Faith
4. Drusilla
5. Tara (post-season 4)

Still, in spite of how long my rant about how attractive the cast is has been, I'd still love the show just as much if the actors all looked like trolls.
