Bwahaha! Those were great Pat!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Update:
2009 Movie Scorecard: Best to Least Best
01. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: 9/10 02. Up: 9/10 03. Star Trek: 9/10 04. The Hangover: 9/10 05. Drag Me to Hell: 9/10 06. Gran Torino: 9/10 07. Slumdog Millionaire: 8/10 08. Watchmen: 8/10 09. Terminator Salvation: 7/10 10. The Taking of Pelham 123: 4/10 11. Knowing: 3/10 12. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: 2/10
Dreadful, just absolutely terrible. Now I loved Transformers, I gave that film an 8/10, but this was just horrible! The only reason why it got a 2 was because of the special effects, which were exceptional. I have nothing to say about the acting besides it sucked. When the best performance is by Megan Fox, something is wrong. None of the characters are likeable. The comedy is so childish and immature it was sickening. When it tried to be dramatic it just failed on every level imaginable. Even the action sucked, there was nothing special about it, just over long running and explosions. The story was stupid, flowed weirdly and treated us like we were idiots. Events happened for no reason at all and then were never explained. The movie is two and half hours and I'm pretty sure less than 30 minutes of it mattered.
It's like everything that was good about Transformers was removed from this film. The characters acted like actual people and weren't caricatures. Some of the best characters from the first film, like the soldiers, had about 10 lines. You also cared about the Autobots, here they did nothing but fight and make stupid jokes, Bumblebee was the only one that mattered. There was some pretty deep humans/Autobots interaction and morals that were mentioned, and if they went that route it could have been amazing. The climax was also one of the most annoying things I've ever seen.
One of the worst movies I have ever seen in theaters.

Well, I seen it today and I quite liked it. I liked the humour and the action. Maybe I'm just really childish or something, I'm not sure, but I very much enjoyed Transformers 2

I almost 100% agree with Ethan. I thought Megan Fox was good and Shia was very good, but that the movie itself was terrible. Thinnest plot, and simply the longest montage of shit blowing up that I've ever seen. The emotional and funny moments were contrived and fell flat every time, without fail. And Transformer heaven , seriously?

The emotional and funny moments were contrived and fell flat every time, without fail. And Transformer heaven , seriously? What do you give it out of 10? The only part of the movie I thought was superb was when Sam and Mikaela were hiding out in that house thingy and the camera just stayed on Mikaela, the fear was real and the sound/shadows were perfect. I wish the movie did more stuff like that.

I liked Transformers Revenge of the Fallen.
It was a classical summer blickbuster, and therefore it fulfilled it´s purpose.
I don´t even see why so many people are complaining. What did they expect? It´s just popcorn movie, supposed to have action, a little humour, some kind of entertainment. And I didn´t get bored in the two and a half hours, because whenever you thought it would stall, something new happened.
I don´t like Michael Bay with his patriotism and Military stuff as well, but that should´n´t float into the judgement. Besides, the military aspect was tamed down a lot, in comparison to his other movies.
And all this discussion about racism? The robots learned their personalities through the Internet, so they turned Gangsta. They don´t have to be necessarily black. They are just posers, like Kevin Federline.
Besides, they are real important characters, with strong powers.
people shouldn´t read too much into that.
I don´t know why everyone was trying to screw the movie. I went to see it with negative expectations , and got proven wrong.

It was a perfect popcorn movie because it was just giant robots kicking each other's asses and blowing stuff up, but I didn't expect that to be the entire movie. Along with that, I wanted a story and character development, both of which were completely absent. The first movie balanced all three of those. There was a story, but it was just so uneven and plot holes galore. It probably made up 15 minutes of the movie.

I wouldn´t say completely absent. True, the development wasn´t that dominant, but there was. Spoiler: The relationship between Sam and Mikaela was brought on a higher level. Sam accepting that he can´t avoid making a decision and taking the consequences. And we see, where old characters ended up, like Simmons. So there was at least, a bit.

Finally saw The Hangover. I really did enjoy it, but I didn't think it was the most hilarious movie I have ever seen like so many people are saying. It was good though. Perhaps the reason it wasn't as great as I expected was because I saw it by myself in a theater with like 3 other people. Laughter is infectious.
2009 Movie Scorecard: Best to Least Best 1. Up- 10/10 2. Star Trek - 9/10 3. Drag me to Hell-9/10 4. Watchmen- 8/10 5. The Hangover-7.75 6. Wolverine -7.5/10 7.Friday the 13th-7/10 8. Terminator: Salvation 6.5/10 9. 10.

I saw Transformers today, and well I enjoyed it for what it was. In terms of mindless, summer action, you can't ask for more from this series. This was just more of what we got in the first one, which did cause quite a few issues, but overall I did enjoy watching the film. It was entirely too long and the second act (basically everyone gathering in the desert) was the main offender. I just didn't see any reason for all that set up and all that time spent getting all the principles to the final confrontation site. The college stuff with the Decepticon that could turn into the hot girl was just weird. Her transformation into her true form was certainly impressive, but there was no explanation given about how they could suddenly mimic human form when most of the time they project human's as holograms.
The battle in the woods where Optimus is killed was amazing though and easily the highlight of the film, which is a shame because it was so early in the movie. The final battle was just too big, but still impressive. Devastator really didn't do much, which was disappointing, and I wish there had been more hand-to-hand up close fighting like with Bumblebee and Rampage. Most of the battle was just shooting back and forth from one side to the other, and compared to the first film which had some really up close and in your face battles, that was a shame. Despite it's problems, I did really enjoy getting my senses assaulted for the 2 and a half hours I was at the theater. 2009 Movie Scorecard: Best to Least Best1. Star Trek - 9/102. Watchmen - 9/103. Drag Me to Hell - 9/104. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - 8.5/105. The Hangover - 8.5/106. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 7.5/106. Terminator: Salvation - 7.5/107. Friday the 13th - 7/10Most Anticipated Unreleased Movies:1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2. Inglourious Basterds 3. Avatar 4. Funny People 5. Halloween 2 6. Sherlock Holmes 7. Bruno 8. District 9 9. Public Enemies 10. The Wolf Man

I just have one recent one-
Public Enemies (9/10)
It was stunning, well written, amazing action and stunts with really gorgeous vintage vehicles, suprising love story without being too gushy, and beautiful costume work. I'm not even too crazy about Johnny Depp, but this is his best work lately!

Me and my friend did a double whammy today and saw Bruno and Sunshine Cleaning. Really enjoyed both, but prefered Sunshine Cleaning just because its more my kind of film. Bruno: 8/10. It was completely outrageous as I expected and highly entertaining and funny but it didn't seem to have as much point to it as Borat did. Borat was ridiculous and funny but also seemed to highlight a few areas of society and create some debate, whereas I found Bruno to be more of a balls out insane comedy. The end was absolutely hilarious and I can only say it added fuel to the fire to the 'debate' that america is well and truly f**ked up to be perfectly honest. The reaction of the audience in the chat show to Bruno saying Im looking for Mr Right was disgraceful...and was one of the many moments where I was just like holy crap...america...(a massive generalisation I know but it seems to be the main thing the film highlights to be honest.) Sunshine Cleaning: 8/10 I LOVE Emily Blunt. LOVE HER. So naturally I was gonna love this film. With alan arkin and amy adams added to the mix as well, it made for a great cast and an enjoyable film. Nothing groundbreaking and it had a rather simple formulaic narrative but regardless, I really enjoyed the characters/relationships and how it all unfolded. I got my tickets for Barry Trotter booked for wednesdy today as well...luckily I got the day off work. Cant WAIT!

Back with another video review. This is for the awful Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Steve, Joe, and I review it, but... we all seem to disagee about the film. Check it out for a whole bunch of different perspectives.
Oh, and if you're not one for explicit language, watch out. There are curses throughout, especially in the RANDOM CLIP inserted in the middle of the clip.
