This is very, very good news. I just hope that FOX really takes these numbers into account and gives them the attention they deserve.

I'm very reassured by this good news. I only hope that FOX manages to move ep 6 to be paired with American Idol this season to give Dollhouse a final boost in locking down an audience. Check out this open letter by gossi at Whedonesque that explains why it'd be a good move. That would be great, but they'd better make sure that they choose a very good episode, and that it's also a good episode to jump into the story (i.e., doesn't require people to have seen earlier episodes to understand.)

this is great news! I don't use DVR but I have instructed all of my friends and family to record and let it run! Hehehehe I know what you mean! Every Friday I call all my friends and tell them to turn it to Dollhouse and just let it run. I got two of them hooked over it!

Much as I heart Joss to bits and pieces, and am excited to be getting to the ep where Fox has finally gone all hands-off with the show, I will be bypassing Dollhouse on the night that Battlestar Galactica is in its finale. I will catch the ep on Hulu after my head stops spinning, which'll probably be Saturday evening or Sunday.
Joss is a super duper BSG fanboy. I bet I know what he'll be watching Friday night, too. I also bet this "do we keep DH against BSG that night" question has come up in his office. The BSG finale is like the geek Superbowl. Well, except that it just happens once. But still. My point is like everyone else's: "preview" the show after a big show, for one night, for two reasons: to attract viewers (it'll be a novelty), and to dodge the stampede to Skiffy.

Actually, unless your home is a Nielsen home, it doesn't really matter when you watch Dollhouse, since you aren't helping the ratings any. So don't feel too bad about skipping out on it for one week. For people that aren't in a Nielsen home, watching the show on Hulu or on a DVR actually helps out the show more than watching it Friday's at 9:00.

I feel really stupid at the fact that I didnt know that they could even see if something was recorded on DVR, let alone use those as a factor. SO interesting!

Can any one explain exactly how these numbers work?

Episode 1 - 4.7 million, 2.0 in 18-49 demo. Episode 2 - 4.2 million, 1.7 in 18-49 demo. Episode 3 - 4.1 million, 1.6 in 18-49 demo. Episode 4 - 3.5 million, 1.5 in 18-49 demo.
I hope Watchmen is to blame.

I was out having dinner with friends, no DVR Do they incorporate these numbers with Hulu? How would that work?

I wouldn't be surprised if Watchmen was. That movie is the very definition of a movie targeted at the 18-49 demo. I wouldn't be surprised if the DVR numbers were the highest yet for this episode. Glad the demo didn't drop my though.

Yeah, I'm really glad the demo didn't drop drastically. Pretty surprising because of how many viewers it lost.

Wow, that sucks. Let's blame Watchmen, I know a good chunk of people that went to see it last night.
Oy, I hope it gets up there. I hope next week's preview gets people interested.

I kinda figured it'd stay on a downward trend since (IMHO) the first 3 eps weren't very strong. This last ep, though, Gray Hour, was fantastic. I think if I'd seen this before the other 3, I'd have a better opinion/stronger hopes. But the ep did boost my opinion.
Mainly, my bad opinion stems from the executives, not Joss. Joss got the reigns from them starting with ep 6, but I can already see in ep 4 that things were done more the Joss way than the other way. Ep 4 raised the bar, so I'm anxious to see that the rest improve from here.

Hopefully the numbers will start to go up. I thought that episode was alright, but not as strong as the previous ones.

do we have tivo/dvr/hulu numbers for every episode? I would bet that those numbers have not dropped at all...I hope...

do we have tivo/dvr/hulu numbers for every episode? I would bet that those numbers have not dropped at all...I hope... I believe they only have them for the first two episodes. You can go onto TVbythenumbers.com and see yourself. For the second episode, DVR raised the demo to like a 2.4 or something so that's way good.

Episode 5- 4.42 million, 1.5 in the 18-49 demo.Shame the viewers shot up, but not the demo. Terminator was right behind it this time with a 1.4 demo, its highest yet since the Friday move. Next week should be interesting with the BSG finale. That must be a good chunk of Dollhouse's viewers. I wish FOX gave it the week off.
