Which look on Buffy's face? The one after the "brain-fry" panel, where Willow says "she's gone". Buffy's face looks she's in disbelief, confused, and worried. Might mean nothing, but I think it means something, especially after Buffy's talk with Giles.

So it's called Pig Latin? ats-they ool-cay I have no idea what you just said. *googling* It means "That's cool". EDIT: You take the the initial consonant sound (the "th" sound), and move it to the end of the word, and add an "ay" to it. In this case, henz added an "ey". Same thing with "cool"; take the "c" sound, and move it to the end of the word with an "ay" added.

2. Thanks for pointing out the weird spelling in "magick". Most people add a "k"... but looks kind of unecessary to me! Superfluous is what comes to mind indeed. The "k" distinction, I was informed, is to distinguish between "pulling a rabbit out of a hat" magic, and the more serious "magick" used for well, whatever the heck is shown in BtVS and Angel. I do think it's superfluous, but since the source material uses it, I'll respect it and use it too. When in Rome... Oooh ok! Faire enough. Now that you mention it I think I had read that somewhere too. It does make some sense to try to distinguish the two types of magic(k). Good to know. Thanks for the info. Karma.

Btw, I changed my mind about how Faith said she couldn't take it anymore. It was probably about torturing, not her feeling helpess and useless, since Buffy mentioned the thing about etics.

I guess I just don't want to label things and call all demons magical. I mean they're different species and I bet many of them aren't more magical than a bunny(of course, some bunnies can do hat-tricks...). I just assumed that just because slayers were demonic doesn't mean they're magical. I guess I was wrong. Not that I know exactly what magic is but you know... Sure, i didn't mean to suggest that all things supernatural are magical. Like you said there are different demon species that create other demons in a biological manner, have sex, breed, ect. But vampires especially and slayers are created trough magic, biggest difference being that as vampire a corpse is infused with a demonic being that re-animates the corpse and uses it as a vessel. While slayers are still of the living when they get demonic powers, entity. I think it will be intresting to see in the upcoming issues what the results are when Buffy surpresses her demon, Oz would understand how bad of an idea that would be. Well maybe the bunnies Anya was scared of are magical demonic bunnies...with big teeth.

I'm not quite sure what Willow meant when she said "they" (presumably Twilight and his people) had all the local demons "wired" to attack Slayers when they found them.
Does that mean that even non-evil, souled demons would be forced to attack them? Or did it mean that evil demons would have no choice but to attack (rather than retreat, walk away, hide, surrender, etc.)?
If the former, I can't imagine how Twilight would get the means to control demons who weren't on his side already. If he had the means to deprive people of their free will on such a scale, he would have won already. I doubt there were any Lornes or Clems or Doyles in that army attacking the castle.
As to whether it was morally wrong for Willow to torture a demon that had been trying to kill her and her friends, I don't know. Throughout BtVS we see vampires and demons treated with a different set of rules than humans. Slayers are supposed to kill demons and vamps (at least evil and/or soulless ones) on sight, without any legal recourse or "Geneva conventions"... they can be killed with no more pangs of conscience than stomping on cockroaches. Humans, however, can't be killed (except in immediate self defense) even if they commit the same crimes as the demons and vamps.
Does that mean it's OK for Buffy or her allies to torture enemy demons to get info from them that may save their lives? No doubt Willow would use the Jack Bauer defense... you may torture those who chose to attack you in order to prevent a greater evil from coming about.
Would she have skinned a human enemy to get information from him under similar circumstances? I don't know. But I think we may find out.
In the real world, I'm 100% opposed to torture, but in the real world I'm also opposed to going up to people and jamming wooden stakes through their hearts. It's a fantasy story, and morals and good vs. evil are simplified for the sake of an exciting story.

Good points AndrewC. I just wish I knew if those demons were good or not. Still, even if Willow had known that the demon wwew innocent, it's a kill or get kill world. Sadly. Just a tiny bit of concern from Willow would have been nice though. But vampires especially and slayers are created trough magic, biggest difference being that as vampire a corpse is infused with a demonic being that re-animates the corpse and uses it as a vessel. While slayers are still of the living when they get demonic powers, entity. You think vampires are created through magic? I kinda thought it was like with zombies, they're infected. Nah, it's probably partially magical. How else do they get boners? lol, sorry, I just thought of the how-do-vamps-have-sex-thread in the Angel-section.

How else do they get boners? lol, sorry, I just thought of the how-do-vamps-have-sex-thread in the Angel-section. I think so yes, but none of it is facts, it's just my own opinion. Compare the Buffyverse vampires against for example the Underworld vampires. The underworld vampires seem more biological and their bodies aren't dead, don't turn to dus and sunlight is their biggest weakness. In praticular ultra-violet light. Where as the Buffyverse vampires have been able to withstand suns in other dimensions. I still think of it as an infection, just how it is done is magical. Ahh, the boner mystery, i think it was Joss that said in an interview long ago(around the first or second season of Buffy) that if vampires couldn't get boners there wouldn't be any show. Might have been formulated differently but that was the gist of it. There are a lot of little mistakes like that which we overlook for the sake of the story i guess. Like how Angel refused to re-animate Buffy when she drowned, telling Xander that he does'nt breath. That very well may be but he and all the other vampires still simulate breathing, so blowing oxygen into her body wouldn't have been a problem, it might have even been better cus there would be a higher oxygen concentration.

I finally got my hands on the issue. And so now I've got like 15 or 20 pages of thread to read. I should be done by, oh, next Tuesday. P.S. I thought the issue was great! Felt like it would have been one epic mid-season ep, and it felt like we're really getting into position to start working toward the finale. The last few frames, and especially the final one? Freaking perfection. Jane in the hizzouse!

This has made me very very happy, even though I probably won't buy the trade with the changes lol (waiting for those big, special ones man). I posted here cause the thread is locked. Cheers to the guys who asked about it.
The rest of the issue is great. Things are tense, and moving along forward, which has been lacking in the last few issues. It'll be interesting to see how Oz fits into things in the next issue. Great first line anyhoo.
Buffy and Giles ftw. Quite odd to see them together I must say, I figured they'd be at bit less happy to see eachother. The hug makes up for their lack of love in season 7 though, lol

^^ Though, alternatively, it looks as though Buffy is recognizing that fact, whereas Willow is not. We shall have to see on what terms Willow leaves the group. My guess is that she's not too keen to give up magick cold turkey.

I still maintain that there has been no sign of a "dark Buffy" storyline this season, or any indication that she's losing her moral compass. She has a lot of moral decisions to make and she sometimes makes questionable ones, but that's been a part of her character from the beginning.
If anything, I think Buffy's big problem this season may be trying so hard to run from her own normal Slayer darkness that she loses her ability to fight.
I see this shaping up as Buffy and Willow having mirror-image struggles: Willow keeping enough to the Light to be an effective fighter, and Buffy keeping enough to the Dark.

I sure as hell wouldn't be thrilled if I had to give up something that made me powerful. I've always seen myself as a Wicca if I ever was in the Buffyverse, so I'm kinda with Willow on this one. That's a nice theory, Andrew. I too think that Buffy's trying WAY too hard to escape the very thing that gives her power. Let's not forget people that a Slayer is a Slayer because of a demon's strength (essence?). If I was Buffy I'd quit running and embrace the inner demon. She said it herself, "We gotta be more than Human or the less than is going to win."

I think Willow's way past the point of being able to 'give up' magic. Magic is now as much a part of her as the Slayer is a part of Buffy. You can't just operate and pull the witch/Slayer part out.
Now I know why Superman II has been in the back of my head nagging me incessantly lately. It's that whole scene where he gives up his power so he can lead a normal life and not be responsible for saving the world. I guess I'm wondering if Buffy is about to do something similar, and regret it just as much.

I'm not saying she has to, at least forever. But for the good of the group? Stop practicing for a while until Twilight goes away? For sure. What I was trying to get at was the tension that has been building between Buffy and Willow (juxtaposed with the subject of betrayal and abuse of power). I want to see it all go down

I just got my issue yesterday and thought it was pretty good. I really liked seeing the "new" scoobie gang (Buffy, Willow, Xander, Dawn, Faith, Giles, and Andrew) back together again. I also kinda figured that we wouldn't see Oz until the final page since they love giving us cliffhangers.

I think the whole "Buffy is the dark" thing it's not about her moral compass personally. Obviously she is not going nihilist again or anything like tat. But she made a decision that changed the balance of magick in the whole world. So, MAYBE the point is: Buffy is the dark because the potentials shouldn't exist. She kinda played God there, reshaping the good/evil balance. She made the best decision in my point of view, but maybe it was not the best for nature's moral balance.

So I just read issue 26. So it was the First that talked Andrew into killing Jonathon, right? Is it me or is Georges doing a poor job drawling the characters? In I wasn’t all too big on the whole half fish thing. I know that Joss & Co can get away with more stuff because its comics but I like to view it as it would be shown on TV. You know? I hope we see how Warren’s appearance affects Andrew in later issues. Was it me or did one of the demons in the underground bunker look like Der Kinderstod? lol.
