I view it as: to open the doors to all the dimensions, as Dawn's blood/Keyness Energy does, her blood carries the Key's energy. But the rule was, her blood/energy was needed to open the doors, not to close it. The only thing that would close it, was when the portal itself thought that the blood had stopped flowing. So, Buffy realizing that Dawn's blood was the same as her own, she took a chance and jumped figuring correctly that she could trick it into thinking the blood had stopped flowing.
It was never a problem for me at all. I personally think its ingenious and what hurts even more is that Buffy couldnt have known for sure that it would work. She jumped off at least a 150-200 ft tower hoping it would close it, but had it not she would have went straight down to her death, or at least a "Faith-y" coma, and wouldnt have been able to protect her loved ones.
And I am pretty sure that Dawn as the Key may actually come into play either by the end of this season, or at least by Season 9. It was left completely ambiguous within Season 6, as Dawn herself states, "I'm not the Key anymore, and if I still am I dont open anything."

No, I think judging by the previous cover, it will more like Oz's original appearance.

I have to admit, though... the ending of "The Gift" was so emotionally powerful that it was a long time before I even thought to consider "hey, wait a minute... how does this work exactly?" I had the same feeling! My theories of the plot hole key bloodness are all shut out once I actually try to watch and review the episode... it's just too powerful for me to question! lol

I think it's been quite eloquently (if I do say so myself) explained.

Yay! Simple but still interesting to see. The simplicity of the second page really lends itself to this theme of seeking inner peace.

I'll wager that the girl offering the butter tea is Bay...

I love that we are getting an Oz flashback, can't wait to catch up with him. I just hope that it'll be a small part of the entire comic, want more story!

Yay Oz! (Still so, so excited he's back)
Jeanty's Oz on the last panel of Page 1 is a tad Andrew-looking, but mostly because Oz's face is at an angle.

Cool preview. The werewolf transformation was handled in such a beautifully subtle way, I just love Jeanty's artwork. His layouts are always perfect and his backgrounds are so detailed. ;D
Though, I'm kinda sad they seem to be contradicting the old Oz comic book series, I know that's not canon but it's a shame to throw it out completely. I liked that story, Jinan the fire demon was cool.

Oz is looking quite Andrew-ish. I think they should make Oz' hair more reddish.
Loved the preview pages anyway, nice flashback!

I'm with Cowboy guy on this. Oz looks very Andrewish. They need to make his hair more reddish and also make him paler. And a smaller nose. And there's something about the eyes that's off.

I guess this answers my question as to whether Chris Golden's old Oz miniseries would be integrated into canon.
I am guessing that's Bay with Oz on the second page. She looks a bit Dichen-ish, though it's hard to tell from this distance.
I notice they've done away with the usual Page One format here... the black page with the title and credits and the single panel at the bottom. Must be they had too much story to waste that much real estate in this issue.

Must be they had too much story to waste that much real estate in this issue. Not sure if they got rid of it. Some of the previews haven't always started with the first page, or we get it later on. I remember the first Swell preview we got started with Kennedy dropping down after zapping the "oh crap" demon. It'd suck if they got rid of it. I always thought the first page was pointless and was a waste of a page (why not put the credits on the inside cover?), but it'd be annoying if they just got rid of it more than halfway through.

Not yet, no. Bay is a new character that's been discussed by Jeanty in his Q&A's.

I really love that he used Dichen as a reference for her. It'll be a lot easier to come up with a voice while you read.
