Hi-Res Covers: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #31 "Turbulence"
Written by Joss Whedon, penciled by Georges Jeanty, inked by Andy Owens, colored by Michelle Madsen, cover by Jo Chen.
After Willow unearths giant Tibetan goddesses to help in the fight against Twilight and his disposable soldiers, the Slayers are forced to retreat when the goddesses go AWOL and attack indiscriminately. Without powers the Slayers are unable to keep up the fight against missile fire, grenade launchers, and tanks. It would seem that all is lost, and Buffy -- all alone -- must make her last stand on a battlefield covered in the bodies of friends and foes.
40 pages, $2.99, in stores on Jan. 6 Written by Joss Whedon, penciled by Georges Jeanty, inked by Andy Owens, colored by Michelle Madsen, cover by Jo Chen. Source: Comics Continuum SolicitationsScott Allie #30 Q&A::PREVIEW::Preview courtesy of Newsarama.

Definitely not going to read the description after hearing how spoilery it is, and after how great I say the covers are, I'm not clicking this thread until after I read #30.

Reposting from old thread:
Both covers are brilliant.
The description is pretty spoilery though, but oh well, like I wouldn't have read it anyway.

Hmmm... guess that explains Jeanty's cover in #30 then. Figured as much. Guess that majorly spoils #30 for some... but I'm of the mind that these solicitations aren't always accurate. Sometimes, they tend to oversell the issue. Chen's Willow looks way better here than in her one-shot cover... but what is it with Willow and all these goddess women anyway? Seriously... this one is a tad more "acquired taste" than Saga Vasuki. The concept of Jeanty's cover convinces me that this one is going to be more in Buffy's head than about the physical... more #20-ish, but hopefully better used.

This just makes me more anxious for tomorrow's issue! And wow, major spoilers in the description. But it's pretty much what we've all been speculating on happening, so really there's no surprises there.
Love Jeanty's Lichenstein-esque cover! Great work. And Chen's cover is very creepy.

Not sure if anyone bothered to check, but it's the same demon/goddess from Jeanty's #30 cover.

I was kicking myself for reading the spoiler, but who am I kidding? No way I would have avoided it until January. What's really interesting is that it looks like the battle against Twilight continues right on into this issue. I guess #30 will end with whatever WTF thing is going to happen to Buffy, but they'll still be in the middle of the fight.
I'm not sure what to make of the fact that Jeanty's cover suggests things are tranquil enough in #31 for Xander and Dawn to have a makeout session, and for Buffy to be concerned about that rather than with keeping her friends from being wiped out.
Or maybe the cover just illustrates Buffy's memory of seeing them kissing, and she's undergoing some sort of mental journey like in TLWH.
Really worried for Leah and Rowena. Less for Satsu, since we've been told she still has a part to play in the upcoming story.

Woh. VERY SPOILERY! I can not believe we came up with that, and then we were right! That is crazy! I really think this new story coming up, with no powers, will be interesting. I really cant think of anything big to say, Im still 'wow'ed.

Wow - the solicit definitely makes me think that either Amy, Warren, Faith, Satsu, or Rowena will die.

is this part of the retreat arc? It's not supposed to be, no. It's more of a bridging piece between "Retreat" and the next arc. Apparently, it's supposed to kinda get inside Buffy's head a bit, or at least that's what I got from one of the recent Q&As with either Jeanty or Allie. Or both.

No, it doesn't seem likely that it'll be included in the "Retreat" TPB, at least going from information in solicitations. No, there isn't a title for this issue yet, but I'm sure someone will ask Scott Allie in this month's Q&A session. You could ask the question. EDIT: Just in case anyone's curious about the Lichtenstein reference, behold:

really liked the cover... willow... i'm imagining buffy this issue just like angel ATF.... imagining buffy standing in the midlle of a lot of bodies... and one of the major characters dead on her foot(like xander - love him, don't want him to die) and she diciding to end with her life(a lot like 5 season finale) and ending magic, but it will fail and we'll see she dealing with the consequences of her act on the next arc really want to read the 30 issue... i'll read 29 wanting to read 30

Richie: you can put a spoiler box around your text by using bbcode. Example: [spoiler*]Soylent Green is People![/spoiler*] This code will work without the asterisks, for whatever text you want to hide. Soylent Green is People! I'd show you the code using a special bbcode tool, but it doesn't work for the spoiler code.
