The font is different from the previous ones. And I had the opposite experience with TFAW. All I ever got were the Chen covers... I got the first 8 issues from them. Then I moved to Austin, and there were tons of comic places, so I stopped. I think I've got a pretty equal ratio of the painted covers and Jeanty ones.

I'm going with the Jeanty one - cool style concept utilized and emotionally resonant. I also agree the brown borders on Chen's cover are hideous. Yuck!

I'm getting Jeanty's cover. I think the brown borders on the other one do not do the color scheme justice, and the design of goddess is also unappealing. That's not Chen's fault, but still...ugly.

Problem with the goddess design... it's meant to look totemic, and hence is usually very stylized. When you try to make it all "real" looking... it just doesn't work.

I don't like the Chen cover for the simple fact that I spent a half hour trying to make it work with our layout, only to give up and go for the Retreat TPB image you see above! That was almost the Chen cover haha!

This from the Buffyfest LATEST POST: In anticipation of Buffy #31 which comes out Wednesday: "It's such a good issue...Buffy and Xander have a conversation about Xander and Dawn and it's such a great conversation. It's so true to Buffy."

And they're unveiling another Twilight cover on MTV. Man... you know, for an unexpected leak, Dark Horse certainly seemed to be prepared with a major PR campaign, what with Facebook contests and interviews on MTV and every Joss-related blog on the Internet. I'm really hoping they just moved up the stuff they already had planned for the #33 release, and that this wasn't a deliberate leak in order to get press.

At this point, I don't think it makes a difference either way. Either approach would be a marketing decision, and as the Buffyfest article says, Joss and Scott discussed it, and decided that it would be best to just come clean. What may have started as a mistake is now being dealt with in the way that any PR move would be. They're making sure that they're the ones dropping the buns, instead of allowing others to drop crumbs.

I'm going with the Chen cover just because it matches all my other covers this far. I don't own one Jeanty cover. They look too cartoony for me.

Random thought after reading the preview. Weve been told (in Fray) that all magic is taken from this world. But we know magic "survives" because of future willow/Fray etc. Well what with these "ripples" and time travel. If Willow finds out that magic gets taken away, could she not time travel, she cant now, but we know that she can at some point in the future develop this power. Lets say magic is just about to be taken away from this world, Willow could just jump forward a week or something. She avoids the magic being taken away from her and explains (to some extent) how magic "survived" the purge of magic.

Don't think it's even been established that Willow can actually time travel.

Don't think it's even been established that Willow can actually time travel. In TOYL. Dark willow knows about/creates the portal. DW tells Saga to tell present Willow to go to New york. Either way, FDW has knowledge of when/how to time travel.

She has knowledge that transcends time, true. Aluwyn's realm transcends time. Aluwyn herself transcends time. But Willow doesn't time travel. The portal created is more than likely created by FDW's death, not by any particular spell. It's all caused by ripples, as you said. But nothing so far has established Willow's ability to time travel. Fact is, FDW has to use Aluwyn as a relay of sorts.

Ok, then change my idea to: DW tells Saga when to pull present willow out of the timeline to stop her magic being taken. Then returns her after the magic purge.

This issue is out Wednesday! I can't wait! I hope it's way better than last issue cause the last couple were kinda stinky.

I'll disagree about the Willow one-shot being stinky. It was by far the best piece of S8 that we got in the last year. The fact that Joss managed to pack that much into a one-shot proves that space shouldn't be the limit for quality, and that multi-tiered tales can be told, even under tight conditions.

One of my favorite issues so far.
Buffy had been keeping her flying ability a secret since #30. Willow gets her powers back. Buffy and Xander have "the talk". Xander is now public with Dawn. Willow knew about Dawn and Xander all along. Twilight has Andrew, Faith, and Giles captured. Twilight has put a confusion spell on the Scoobies so they won't notice who's missing There's a really sad moment between Buffy and an injured soldier from Twilight's army. Buffy reveals to everyone her flying powers. Willow makes huge holes in the earth for Buffy to pummel the goddesses into. Goddesses are buried and trapped. They are no longer a threat. Kennedy wears a Domo shirt!!! *Georges put Domo in - I requested it!*

This issue was nigh pitch perfect! I laughed at Twilight not remembering Andrew's name, I teared up at the Buffy & Xander convo, then laughed, then did a happy sigh. I cheered when Buffy rose up into the sky to fight the Goddesses! There was so much emotion in this piece!
Seriously, best issue in a long time. Not as meaty in terms of symbolic storytelling like Willow: Goddesses and Monsters (see: also awesome) but Turbulence delivers what fans love most about the Buffyverse: the characters we love interacting in gloriously entertaining and heroic ways.
Dialogue, characterization, the story ending with Buffy flying (in secret) to Buffy flying (in public) which amounted to her coming out of the closest, both with her powers and her feelings for Xander.
Fabulous. One of the best issues of Season 8 thus far. Anyone else getting the feeling that it's only gonna keep getting better?
