I am not a Season 8 hater. I guess I just needed to... "whine" a little bit because so many people seemed to find everything about S8 so awesome and at some point I guess I just wanted to scream out all the things that annoyed me. I totally understand where you're coming from; I get frustrated with Angel: After the Fall, especially when the fans go on about how perfect it is. I started a thread to vent about that in the AtF thread, and it felt good to put my feelings about it into words... kind of theraputic.

Hey, I like Kennedy. Ever time I open up a new issue, I think 'I want to see more Kennedy'. Sometimes I do. It's good. I have the exact same thoughts! i love me some Kennedy and am a big fan of her relationship with Willow. I definetly want more of her and im sure we will get it, just takes some time is all.

I like Kennedy as well. She really does grow on you. I never got her charatcer at first so always just hated that fact that she so braty all the time but then seaosn 8 came along an I finally got it. Being brat is her thing and I love that idea. It is really funny at times. Just like Anya had her 'rude with people' thing. Kennedy has the 'brat' thing. So go Kennedy! Thats what i love about good ol' Kenders. Shes a spoiled selfish brat but she just doesnt care, u either accept her or dont. Shes not a likeable character but in a way that makes her very endearing to me that they are not trying to make her into this perfect girlfriend for Willow, shes just herself and i believe she has carved herself a nice niche into the scoobies. Lets face it without Cordy, Spike Anya etc we need someone to stir up some sassy trouble. And on another note, she is an awsome slayer, i mean she kicked arse as a potential. And when shes activated as a Slayer when she does her 'Loreal' routine with the hair, its just amazing, that clip was born to be in the title credits. Not only that she heads into battle weaponless and jus tosses upbervamps aside with no need for blunts or blades. You go girl!!! Go Kennedy!!

I rarely ever post here and haven't read this entire thread but I just wanted to add that I too am fed up with season 8. I TRIED to like it when it started, and bought the first 17 issues. After that I decided they wern't worth the money so I find them online. I thought that maybe I didn't like the medium the stories were being told in, but after reading "Will be right back after these messages" I realized how much I missed the old Buffy and would rather pretend the new Buffy doesn't exsist (which is pretty easy considering its just a comic). Anyway I think they should end the comic early. I know this is pretty unrealistic but I would much rather see a cartoon Buffy in HS...I think I'd really enjoy that.

No matter how bad it could possibly get, I would still like it better than having no Buffy at all in my life. Not that I actually expect it to get really bad or anything.

Ok, I'm sorry, but I have to go off on you. You shouldn't give up on purchasing what Joss & crew spend time making and then go off and find an illegal copy online. That's just wrong and stupid. Especially if you're a Buffy fan. If you're really a Buffy fan, you shouldn't be reading it online and not giving them the money they deserve. That's an insult to Buffy and everything it's created. If you don't think Season 8 is worth your money, then don't read it. It bugs me that you're not reading Season 8 simply because it's comics, but that doesn't mean you should find illegal copies.

I disagree. While I think that Joss will never drag his creation through the mud just to sell books, should it happen, I'd rather no Buffy than bad Buffy. I don't understand the desperate mentality that some people have. Bad is bad, there's no way around it. So if I had to go on in a world without Buffy, I think I'll survive, vs. having a badly written series.

I wouldn't want Buffy to get that bad either of course but I trust them to still deliver pretty decent stories even tough I don't get excited about all of them. And it might be pathetic but I really feel like Buffy is already so good in the first place that it can never get that bad and some average Buffy would still be better than no Buffy at all. I'm not saying that it's the right thing to say but that's how I feel and how many people feel. You want proof? Many felt like the comic format has let them down a little bit and they keep reading still. And many try to convince themselves that Season 8 is all about awesomeness when it's obviously not alway awesome.

I think that S8 is shaping up to be a pretty good season. As in all seasons, there are "episodes" which I'm not a big fan of, but as long as the larger story remains cohesive, entertaining, poignant, and well-written, I'll like it. I've embraced the comic format fully, so the switch of mediums hasn't disappointed me at all. If nothing else, I applaud Joss was having the foresight and yes, balls, to make the switch, and then do it so well that the story he's trying to tell translates well to pages. Yes, the format has to switch too, but that's not a bad thing. A spin on serialized television isn't necessarily bad. And this is a little off-topic, but if you're a fan of Dollhouse and are foreseeing its doom, pray that Joss decides to make the same move as he did BtVS.

Every now and then I find myself wishing I could go back and re-live my high school years, but that probably isn't going to happen, either. I mean, you didn't really expect that they'd spend 7 or 8 seasons as students at Sunnydale High, did you? Hey, I love those first 3 seasons as much as anyone, but to stay fresh the story needs to continue to move forward--the characters need to mature and grow, and the world has to expand with new settings and new characters. If you prefer the high school years, well, that's what the DVDs are there for. Not trying to sound harsh, but this particular criticism is not only unfair, it's downright ridiculous (and it's also getting old). The Scoobies can't stay 17 forever...

El Diablo Robotico, I completely agree with your comment. My attitude to the high school fans is, "You like the high school seasons? Then go watch the high school seasons." Honestly, those old episodes haven't gone anywhere, the DVDs are pretty cheap so if people want to watch them they can. The rest of us, however, would rather the series and it's characters move forward as opposed to being stuck in some Simpsons-style time loop where time stands still and nothing changes. I like the high school seasons, I like all the seasons, but the post-high school seasons are my favourite. IMO, the characters and the drama became far more complex in the later seasons than they was in the first three. The characters are more mature, and more messed up, and that makes them more interesting to watch than a bunch of high schoolers worrying about losing their virginity. Compare Willow's character arc in season one (She fancies Xander but he doesn't fancy her) to her arc in season seven (Struggling to recover from the death of her soulmate and the guilt of moving on). I know which one I'd rather watch. The series should end when the time comes naturally, nothing would be worse than beating a dead horse (which I'm slightly concerned IDW is doing with Angel... we'll see). However, Buffy shouldn't just be cancelled prematurely so we can all go back to high school. What you're asking for Zacho, is Buffy: One More Day.

You guys really got worked up over this whole high school thing. I don't remember which post actually stated that the first seasons were better but that's actually not that big a deal. I mean everybody has their favorite seasons.
Personnally I think the first seasons were "lighter", "funnier", maybe more entertaining. And indeed the last seasons were more mature and "darker".
I might miss the Scoobies's interactions from the earlier seasons but it doesn't change the fact that my favorite seasons are season 5 and 6.
You guys really overreact when one of us criticizes the slightest thing about Buffy. I know it's supposed to be a pro-Buffy forum but still. If I were not a fan of BTVS, I wouldn't be debating here. I think we should be open to everybody's opinions, without getting harsh on some people when they disagree with the majority.

Well I don't thinks anyone minds when anti-Buffy points of view actually have some point to them, but when someone says that they don't like Buffy ( or any other comic or TV series ) because the characters are growing and maturing, people have a natural tendency to tell them that thats what happens in life - you grow up! And if the characters you are watching/reading about don't grow you soon find them boring, you out-grow them. Bottom line - if people wanna read about super-powered teenagers they can go and buy Runaways

I think we should be open to everybody's opinions, without getting harsh on some people when they disagree with the majority. I agree that people should be open to everyone's opinions. But being open doesn't mean that one has to agree, and if the argument as to why one disagrees is salient and well-thought out, there's just as much room for it than for consent.

What I meant is that when someone says "I like the high school years of Buffy better" it doesn't necessarily mean that this person is against the idea of having the characters grow up through the show. It's just a statement, you have the right to think those years were more fun to watch. And again I'm just playing devil's advocate because personnally I like seasons 5 and 6 better than the earlier seasons, I think.

It is implicit, and at times explicitly stated that he thinks that S8 is not worth his time or money. He misses the "old Buffy", and then specifically references high school. And then he proclaims his hope that the comics will end early in favor of a new animated series set in high school. There's a fine line between stating a preference and calling something stupid. The line was blurred here. And while I agree that stating a preference for the older seasons doesn't always mean that one is against character maturation, in this case, wanting to halt character progression in favor of nostalgia quite simply shows that one doesn't just prefer the earlier seasons, it's also a statement of preferring a time loop where the characters relive Groundhog Day over and again.
