This may go for a while, maybe not, but I think that I have figured it all out!! Twilight is Ethan Rayne.
The character was re-introduced to us in the first arc of the season, hitching a ride in Buffy's dreamspace. Within the place, he guided Buffy through it, to help her understand what was coming, and how big it really was. Now, there was one line, that having read #30, had got me with the first arc.
"Interfering with someone's dreamspace means attaching a bit of one's own."
Possibly, in doing so, as he stated before, "You are always dreaming," this could mean that with him going into her personal dreamspace, he became psychicly (however you spell it) connected, therefor:
A) He got Amy to put Buffy in this deep sleep. B) He warned Buffy about Twilight so she wouldn't suspect him to be this new big bad. (especially having faked his death).
As I've said before, Joss Whedon would NOT kill off a character unless it was for the overal plot of the story; and important to the characters, and/or arc - which Ethan's random death wasn't. This being the case, it would explain the whole "knowing the Caleb slicer move". Having that psychic connection now, having broken into her dreamspace, he would know a lot about her.
So in #30, when he was finishing sentences, or fortelling what was about to happen, it wasn't because he's from the "future" it was because buffy was thinking it in her head, he either knowingly or unknowingly broke through to that connection and said it, before she did.
I have more reasons, but there on previous pages. I truly think that Twilight is ETHAN RAYNE.

I have a strong feeling that at least one character from the bunch will be found dead by Buffy and it will set off some new found power; if not, someone will still be found dead. I am thinking maybe Dawn or Xander ... possibly both. But I wish its not Xander. Seeing as Buffy seems "completely in love" with the guy ... its probably him.

I think season 8 will end the same way it began. "Thing about changing the world. Once you do it ... the worlds all different." The last panel will be the first panel we ever saw.

What if there's like a Twilight of the past, present and future? I mean, Buffy is obviously acquiring the powers Twilight has, so she could be becoming the Twilight of the present; and the twilight of the future is here, as sort of a "Carrying out the legacy Buffy Summers started, and it was 'future' buffy's last wish" ... Don't let it end with me...
If not, I still rekon its Ethan.

Being a fan of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Smallville, the recent title "Turbulence" made me think of Smallville, and question if Joss was a big fan of the show, or not. Seeing as this is a more Buffy forum, which is clearly obvious, I wanted to ask you three main questions:
1) Do you think her new flying cababilities will be an asset to her this season? Will she be able to fly forever? Why do you think the writers made this move for her character; and does it have anything to do with Twilight? 2) Do you think Joss Whedon is a fan of Smallville? And, do you think its far that Buffy gets to fly when, 9 seasons of Smallville have passed and Clark Kent can't? 3) Do you think Buffy is getting more powers? If so, what?
Thanks, really want some opinions from you guys about these questions, lol.

Anyone else think that we are being shown the origin of twilight, through the events currently happening to Buffy. I mean, its pretty far out there to say "buffy is twilight", in "A Beautiful Sunset" when Twilight lifts his mask up a bit, the jawline is much more manly than Buffy's, and more importantly, than a woman's. I remember someone asking if we would see how the person who is Twilight came to be who they are now, and maybe we're being shown that from a different perspective.
Though, I do think we'll get more in the next arc on who Twilight is and how they came to be Twilight, but maybe Buffy acquiring powers from the Goddesses, is what happened to "whoever" Twilight is.

Ohk I know a lot of you think this isn't a good preview, and I'd have to agree otherwise, but not without saying its not the best preview we've recieved, yet not the worst. I am so happy with Georges work lately. Its truly stunning. The characters are so easy to pick out, and I love the extra effort he puts into the panels. In every panel of his work there is always something going on. ANd I know he said something about this in his interview things that have been running here on the forum, and he's right, the comic is like the tv show; something is always happening in the background; and so him doing that for the comic is truly amazing!! I think he has improved on Faith a LOT! And I think he draws Willow the best out of all the characters.
What I hate ... Dawn. I'm sorry, I just do. For some reason she seems to be in control too much. Like a tad bit too big for her shoes. I don't know if anyone else sees that in her character/dialogue etc, but its starting to get at me. I am a huge Dawn fan, loved her since the beginning, I think it just may be my lack of love in the relationship she is currenltly in - but I won't get into that...

I would like to see separate squads in the finale, taking on the hellmouths. I mean, its most likely not going to happen seeing as "Hellmouths" aren't the main storyline anymore, but its like, we CUT to a shot of RObin's squad being wiped out by Twilights' legions or something, and the another squad getting taken out. Then we realize Twilight's plan has gone global and the world is about to end because of it!! XD MWWAHAHAAHAHAHAHA
Okay a bit too much...

So does anyone have any other possibilities floating in their heads. Like a name of someone...possibly. I know a lot of people think that Twilight's going to be a big shocker to Buffy, but I believe that the shock will be who he has working for him, and which friend is going to betray her.

I still am with Ethan Rayne being Twilight. I agree, with what someone posted up here earlier, that he's never become something greater than just a villain-of-the-week character on television, because he brought a sense of danger/humourous tricks onto it that sort of stood as a one-shot kind of thing. But, I believe Joss Whedon would never, ever ever ever kill off a character unless it was really important? That being the case, Ethan Rayne died to ward off suspicion of him being Twilight. He gave the Buffy the clues of the number 30. XXX. And she entered the room to find him dead, and the General baring Twilight's mark. He is the one who introduced Twilight to her. Said it was falling. Why? So that she'd never suspect someone who was "apparently" helping her, in Buffy's eyes, would be Twilight. So that a dead man (who's not really dead) could not be Twilight. Plus, how do we know he's dead? All we see in THE LONG WAY HOME is Ethan Rayne sitting by the wall, leaning against it, with blood smeared above him, and dripping down his HALF SHADOWED face. We don't even see why there's blood there. And besides, is Ethan not wearing the same jacket as Twilight .... Also if you haven't noticed. Twilight rarely, if not has never, called Buffy by her name. In fact is always calling her "slayer". In which Ethan rarely, if not, calls her Buffy. Only slayer, for example, in A NEW MAN -- Ethan: Slayer! Kill it! It killed Ripper and now it's trying to get me! Also refers to her as "the slayer" as if its the only thing that defines Buffy as a person, as a character. Yes, its her duty, and a part of who she is, but she shouldn't just be defined as that, in which Ethan often does! So, I hope this is causing more speculation for the Ethan is Twilight theory, which I believe he is to be!

Faith's likeness isn't really good in the preview. I think that was intentional. In comics, the people furthest away from the front of the panel are sort of not as detailed. Sometimes they can even just have dots for eyes. But yeah, pretty much what I'm trying to say is its a deliberate thing. XD

For starters, she never said she loved Xander. It was a crush. Two completely different things. And, if you DO remember, that turned into something for Spike. Dawn had a huge crush on Spike and forgot about Xander. Why? Because she was growing up. She was young, and now she isn't so childish and whatnot. So no way in hell has she loved Xander from season 5 to this current season. So there are some factual arguments, lol. I still don't have a solid opinion of the two, but I'm swaying more to the side of "Why?"
But you do know its most likely not going to last, right? So all this argument on the two is a bit, useless. Or at least, that's what I think. Because I doubt Xander has just found the love of his life.

I've been a big fan of this "retreat" arc. A really, really, really big fan of it. I love the concept, and the stories that have taken place during, especially the Andrew episode! I think, which I hope you guys are all agreeing, lol, that the Scoobies are way out of their game. The way I see it was that they wanted to surpress magic, so that Twilight couldn't find them. Now that he's on his way, they're preparing to start a war they're not fit to fight. I think someone dies this issue, I'M HOPING ITS BAY, lol, just kidding, but I don't like her. She seems evil...
On this preview, I have to say, its great to see Georges Jeanty back! Yes, I know, he's been here for ages, but what those previews showed me was the great art he pulled off back in the first three volumes of BTVS s8.

I truly, honestly want Dollhouse to go for a five year run. Five seasons of it will satisfy me. But, sadly, I think season 2 is it. TTSCC lasted two seasons, with the rocky start, and Dollhouse is going to do the same thing. I just wish s2 was 22 eps

I never said the comic book should play it safe. And on the topic of Dawn being with Andrew, OR ANOTHER NEW CHARACTER, like I said in my comment above, yes it would seem more real. I think Dawn still has a lot of time to grow as a character, have some heart breaks, etc. With Xander I think it may dwell on her, to be too painful because in the end they just won't be together. I think people have had a right to say "it doesn't seem real" stuff, because we're so attached to the characters we've known and loved for seven seasons. I didn't have a problem with Buffy/Satsu, nor this Xander/Dawn, I admit, I don't like the pairings, except for B/S, coz that was sort of unexpected, and progressed into a very intriguing relationship of the season ... so that is my second mini rant

I very much loved how a small "finale" worthy storyline has turned into a full season of amazing issues, and drama! In the end, I would love to see the spell being reversed. I think I would be disappointed if Twilight went through all this stuff this season, only to get his ass kicked; and nothing changes. I know letting the bad guy win isn't the best thing, but he's such an amazing character that I'd love to see prevail in a way. But a quote from Buffy season 7, where Buffy and Faith are in the bedroom talking about why they never get along, because they were never supposed to exist together .... I have a feeling that when the spell REVERTS and everything is the way it should be, Faith may be rendered powerless. I know, she had powers before the spell, but its Buffy's power, as said in s7. The essense shared her power, the slayer essence. Reversing it may counteract with Faith & Buffy existing together. I for one would love to see a powerless Faith. She'd be so awesome. Her tough attitude getting her into trouble Or possibly Buffy losing her powers and Faith taking over the show! I can see it right now ... Faith: The Better Vampire Slayer

Unfortunately when I read the issue where Xander and Dawn was announced, I wasn't really "Oh my..." like most people would have been. I mean, yes, it was a great surprise and twist in the show, but I didn't find it unbearable. I think a lot of people have different opinions on the relationship, and when I re-read the issue, I think something may have happened before with the two. It seemed Dawn was trying to convince Xander that the two of them isn't "wrong". My initial thought was that maybe Dawn came onto Xander before this issue, and he clearly stated he couldn't do this. Overall, I think Xander's at a very weird place in his life where he doesn't know what to do. Could he be the betrayer in all of this? Possibly. But I think he's at a vulnerable state with Anya's death, Renee's death, and this whole Twilight situation! What I can gather, this whole Dawn/Xander thing won't last. Either Buffy guilts him out of it, something major happens (like a death, or temporal disappearance), or the two just fall apart. I can see a situation happening, like in Angel, when Cordy see's Angel hurt over the whole thing, only she didn't do anything about it, whereas I can see Xander seeing how hurt Buffy is and just stating "I can't do this to her, Dawn, I just can't!" I don't find the relationship cute. Nor gross. I don't see it ever happening on the television series, I didn't find any of the two's connection with one another romantic, or leading towards that kind of thing. I would have liked Dawn maybe swaying to more of a new character, or possibly Andrew; but Xander ... it just doesn't seem real enough for me. I think this is a set up for a much bigger plot, and so called "Dander" lovers are going to be ultimately disappointed in the outcome. There's my rant
