play.com has it up for a mid July release. That'd be awesome.

Always loved the premise, still do. What makes these people still people, even though they shouldn't be anymore? That's just a great, evocative question. I love the tragic moments when Echo's persona's are talking about their future whilst heading for "treatment".
As for characters... Boyd won me over first. He was great in episode 2. All of the characters were too grey to care about for a long time, but the cop (Ballard?) got some nice dialogue in episode 5 and I'm finally starting to care about his mission. It's a shame that I got there after he'd been shot and nearly killed. I actually kind of like Topher becuase of his near total unlikablility. In a cast of morally ambiguous characters, it's good to have someone you can be sure of, even if you're sure he's a dick.
Boyd and Echo have a cool relationship. It's a fine line between him being the caring guy and a sap though, and I feel like he's already rushed off to free his doll so many times. It's old in only 5 episodes. Maybe it's because episode 2 was originally a little further into the story, where it would have solidified the relationship after some smaller hints, but it feels like we "got it" in the second week and now we're retreading the same ground.
I have one vote for the ugly...
The mystery of it all.... which is quite frankly - bullshit. (I always thought Joss wasn't great at constructing long term arcs and mysteries, and the show has done nothing but convince me of it. We've watched 314 fizzle, and the largest part of Angel season 4 had us scratching our heads for all the wrong reasons. River's story actually came out quite well I thought, although it may have been aided by a nicely budgeted movie. No-one knows how it would have played on TV.)
This alpha stuff has been shoe-horned into a series of inconsistent stand alone episodes with the subtlety of a luminous green wrecking ball. I've honestly been nothing but distracted by these moments. Too much, too soon. I want to learn about Echo and the Dollhouse before all of this other crap gets in the way, and some of these so called shocker moments (like Victor) couldn't be more obvious. Joss has been away for a while and shows like Lost have raised the bar beyond these cheap reveals in my opinion. Joss needs to stop wasting his time on looming season finales and build these characters. That's the reason his material works.

The plot was a bit meh but I'm definately enjoying the character interaction a lot more. This show may find its feet yet. My vote for second best so far, behind The Target.

Arg too long to wait. Mine's not even in the post yet. Sucks to hear about bad condition. I got a badly misprinted one last time, and the replacement had a buggered top right corner. Hope it doesn't repeat itself.
Cheers for the pics though Thorn. Looks good.

I can't find either of these books anywhere for a decent price. ATF 3 will hold me off for a lil while longer, it'd be so cool to have some matching HC's for them.

That's pretty sucky for the actual artists, that Urru's name is on there. He did nothing for these issues did he?

Cover: (click for larger) ANGEL: AFTER THE FALL, VOL. 4
Written by Joss Whedon and Bryan Lynch, art by Franco Urru, cover by Alex Garner.
With truths revealed, master plans laid out, and people dying, it's clear evil is winning the fight in Los Angeles. In this decisive story, a climactic battle will see Angel live free or die for the final time.
132 pages, $24.99.Seemed to be timely. So guys what do you hope for in the final ATF hardcover? I'd love some more drawings from the artists and a Lynch final statement of some form. Cover 16 for the final cover too!

Well rating honestly doesn't bother me much. It could be good and PG-13, but in an apocalyptic war movie following on from three R rated films, you can understand where a fanbase is coming from with the nerves. McG could prove himself with this. He talks a good game, and certainly seems eager to live up to Cameron. I don't actually fear him as much as studio interference, because as I previously mentioned there's a playmates toy deal, and there will likely be huge pressure to make this thing family friendly. Again, it could be a sound PG-13 film but it's a difficult mesh with its subject matter.
Motorbikes are stupid. Why those little things would be implemented in a barron, reckage covered landscape when flying robots already exist is a question that can only be answered with a "because it's cool" tbh.

Hmm... better than the last one, but i can't help but feel I'm watching this out of service to Joss's legacy and not the quality of the show itself. A lot has changed since I last watched a Joss-verse show, and as far as mysteries go, this is no Lost. I will continue to give it my time but this hasn't grabbed me yet.

Awesome-super-dope-ass tbh. I hope volume 4 will follow fairly quickly, I have a feeling issue 12 is going to be a horrible place to wait on.

I really hope Joss takes a page or two to retcon his stupid explanation in issue 4, but I don't want to see an arc focusing on the season's biggest mistake.

I honestly don't care if he lives or dies. It seems only fitting for Joss to have him die this way though. Good old Whedon formula, how you've dated.

It's odd reading these responses...
Who here thinks Buffy was in the right when they turned on her?
Interesting to me that people seem to think so. I always thought the others were right about her being reckless, even though kicking her out was a huge leap of nonsense. Either way it's disappointing that there was never really a moment to reconcille that conflict.

I think Xander's grown a lot by this point in time though, and his responses here are more than justified. Buffy is asking them to go back to the place where they just received a complete battering, and with no more justification than before. The stakes haven't changed, she believed there was something there before, the only difference now is that everyone is beaten and demoralised. Buffy later infiltrates the place alone and succeeds. She was pretty much wrong to try to storm the place with her army a second time, but her tactics are never really questioned.
