Sweets is awesome, one of my favourite things about Bones series 3, the wekeast season. That said, what I've seen from Bones series 4, it's crappy.

Matrix Revolutions
Erg haven't watched this in a while but it's about half unnecessary action half filler. All this film had to do was wrap up the last one and if you blink you'd probably miss that. So little happens in the sequels they could have easily been one film.

Don't need a link love; Charlie' Angels director, the ever looming PG-13 fear, and terminator motorbikes that I'm sure will look great in the accompanying playmates toy line. I think they're the common fears amongst fans.
I'd like it to be good, but I won't be heartbroken to hear it's as bad as some people speculate.
EDIT: There's a new trailer out.

lol I just showed my girlfriend this trailer and I think she threw up in her mouth a little bit. Christ it's got teen-horror-DVD-movie written all over it.

I'm sure Gunn could use his legal expertise to get them out of it anyway tbh.

Wait... was the reveal that the cop's informant was in fact a doll supposed to be a shock? I thought it was shown in episode 1, cause I sure as hell knew that all along. In fact it was so obvious that I though the cop knew too, and interviewed him over and over knowing that the poor sod would be unaware every time they spoke. WTF have I been watching? lol Anyway, crappy "shock", and I'm actually disappointed that it was supposed to be one cause what I thought was going on is way more interesting. You must have been spoiled by all the Lubov is Viktor talk because I knew some fans who were completely unspoiled that were very surprised by that reveal. I was expecting it too since I'd been keeping track of the casting and promotional photos and had read the original script. I knew nothing ahead of time *shrugs*

zzzz.... The one thing less interesting to me than stupid spoiled pop whores is an episode of TV where I'm supposed to care about them. They bring it on themselves, and have every chance of artistic credibility and solitude if they want it.

Some more pretty interesting Echo stuff but in a shitty plot. Hope the next one is better.

Terrible scene. I posted about it on imdb the other day....
It's one of those classic contrived scenes where you know the characters had to go somewhere but how the events unfold are beyond a stretch.
Buffy: We have to go back to the vineyard Everyone else: Say wha? Buffy: They're blatantly protecting something there I mean come on... you have to trust me. Everyone else: But we got beaten up and stuff so we're pretty down, not even sure we should trust you over the convict in the corner there. Buffy: Faith? Dawn: Get out. Buffy: kk

Who didn't see it coming though? It didn't make me as angry as hearing Bow Wow saying "They need sapce" a few days ago. No that's not what's needed, Chris Brown needs his dick kicked in.

The whole Buffy in the future arc was pointless and boring...seriously what was the point to all of that? That entire arc could have been done in one single issue instead of dragged out into four separate uber boring issues. I agree with this. Those 4 issues are remarkably uneventful. Nothing much seems to happen in the future and the other stuff is just filler. Ironically the stand alone that accompanies it deals with similar subject matter and feels totally rushed (in pace not time spent on it). I think they should have shared out the 5 issue window much more fairly between the two plots.

Thanks for moving this to the appropiate thread. They wanted their star back from the last film, it was forgivable. Why wouldn't SkyNet mass produce the same models? I'm not that excited for T4, but they've got a better lead actor this time round, and all the self-parody of T3 seems to have been replaced with a grittier tone. It's about time we got a Terminator movie set in the future and it looks promising. At least they're doing something different from the previous films and the TV show. Haha no problem. I feared we'd derail the topic if we continued in there. Yeah it's totally forgivable, just questionable as to why Skynet would mass produce the same face for an infiltration robot. I'd notice a dozen Arnie's trying to sneak in one after the other lol I like Bale but I hope he doesn't pull his Bat-voice for the film. He sounds a bit like he's doing a tough guy act in the trailers and it's not neccessary. I never pictured Connor being all that tough anyway. He'd mostly beat machines by outsmarting them cause we've seen how tough they are. The drastically different scenery is definately refreshing. I'm hoping it's as gritty as the trailer hints, but there's fears that this post-apocalypse war movie is gonna be all kinds of watered down. My greatest wish is that this film and the two sequels Bale has already signed on for is that we get to see this war develop in an interesting way, and hopefully visually it'll turn into the scenery we've seen in the snippets of T1-3 so everything ties up nicely. I think T3 itself would be partially redeemed if it became the final part of the first trilogy, with a second set post-judgement trilogy alongside it.

It's absolutely IDW's right to continue their story and their numbering though. They're in an unusual position where they've got an official continuation to follow on from, with little to nothing for them to be contradicted by, and a creator that's wanting little to do with it. I'm a big Terminator fan, and like T3 a lot tbh. It did no more damage to the story than T2 did in my opinion. It diluted the series with it's pointlessness. Whereas T2 elaborated beautifully on the universe established in the first movie, T3 just kind of copied the formula without adding to it. John was a pitiful protagonist compared to Sarah or even his ten-year-old self, and Arnie had completely outstayed his welcome. The whole film was just going through the motions. In light of SCC and T4, I don't mind T3 so much anymore. But at the time, when you had two perfect movies and one mediocre one, it stuck out like sore thumb. www.slayaliveforums.proboards50.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=4879

In light of SCC and T4, I don't mind T3 so much anymore. But at the time, when you had two perfect movies and one mediocre one, it stuck out like sore thumb. Yeah I get what you mean. Pointlessness is a side-effect with nearly every sequel. I liked T3's portrayal of John Connor, a man crushed by the weight of his destiny, although I would have prefered him getting a little more to actually do. T3 follows T2 somewhat, but the endings are dramatically different; and as a guy who likes the inevitability angle of timetravel, I much prefered that the film ends with Connor accepting his fate and being ready for the war ahead of him. It's pretty ballsy to end a film with the end of the world anyway imo. T3 changes some plot points, but I'd say no more than T2. T2 chewed up a number of things set up in the first, which was clearly a standalone film. Inconsistancies like: -Reese saying the time machine was destroyed so only the two of them could travel, -Only things with human skin going through the time machine, -John Connor's age. (10 in the film despite being clearly 13 or so, forgivable. Set in 1995 yet the Terminator mentions JD happening 3 years after, stupid) -The inevitability angle is changed for a happy ending. Luckily Cameron changed the ending so it's at least ambiguous. I never really understood why duplicate Arnie models would ever be made either to be honest. I've taken some things from 3 and applied them to the overall story to re-work it into a cohesive plot. For instance, I theorise that Judgement Day was always 2003; John merely had the other date fabricated so that when Sarah passes away from cancer in 1997, she believes she succeeded in saving him from his horrible future. I think 3 could have been much more, but I like it for what it is. I half look forward to and half dread T4. Terminator motorbikes? Pfft. I smell PG13

I think I've said it before, but the Spike continuation has become infinitely more interesting to me in just a few weeks. I feel like Angel has wrapped up now. I'm happy to know he's back in business, he's returned to roots in many ways, and to be honest I don't need to see that pursued any longer. Spike has built solid foundations for a new series from ATF and it feels like there's a mission/destination in mind for this collection. It's also great because Spike has really become Lynch's "baby", and some of the ideas he's been pitching sound great already. That said, in relation to the canon discussion; "Spike - the series" in not going to be canon. It may eventually be read through by Whedon and even approved but it's 100% Lynch, just as the other Spike comics have been.

I'm starting to take a Star Wars approach to Buffyverse canon. That franchise has what they call "the Holocron" (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_canon ), which is a hyierach of canon containing 5 levels. Here's my rough translation of the Holocron into Buffyverse terms (it might not be perfect, I'm not a Star Wars fan!): G-canon - Absolute canon, i.e. the two TV shows. T-canon - Comic books confirmed to be canon, like S8, AtF, Fray, Tales, etc. C-canon - Comic books/novels with unknown canonicity but fit into continuity. The Spike comics, Aftermath, Go Ask Malice, etc. S-canon - Comic books/novels which contradict or don't really fit into canon. Most of the old novels/comics would fall into this. N-canon - Totally non-canon. The Buffy movie and pilot, Queen of the Slayers, the old IDW Angel comics. I like the idea of there being various levels of canon. This is just my personal interpretation though, I'm not stating this as fact, so don't get all up in my face. It's also not quite the same as Star Wars either, because George Lucas actually oversees all SW expanded universe to an extent IIRC, whereas Joss doesn't really care. [Aww T3 hate I liked that film. I've seen nothing yet to prove T4 will be any better either. Mcg ftl] T3 was a pointless clone of T2 and a shit stain on an otherwise perfect series. It's an enjoyable blockbuster if you're a casual viewer but frustrating and insulting if you're a big Terminator fan. T4 looks better because it seems to move the series forward instead of recycling the exact same story from the last one. I think Star Wars style levels of canon are definately becoming useful for this universe, especially with IDW's Angel titles being so vaguely associated. In short, I think you'd have show level, Joss approved/involved comic level, another level for comics that aren't Joss involved that don't contradict the levels above, and finally a level below that has been overwritten by something from the first 2 levels. I'm a big Terminator fan, and like T3 a lot tbh. It did no more damage to the story than T2 did in my opinion.

I don't think canon matters much now that the shows are done with. There's nothing out there more important that could contradict it. I think comic are always gonna exist on a second level of importance anyway, no matter who's behind them, and anyone who's going to read them should be in a position themselves to decide which stories they want to acknowledge. I'll never understand the canon thing though. It's so unimportant to me personally. [Aww T3 hate I liked that film. I've seen nothing yet to prove T4 will be any better either. Mcg ftl]

Ok I should have expected a response like this so let me be a bit clearer. I never said I didn't like Buffy after HS, I personally loved 5 and while 4 and 6 wern't my favorite they were still really good. Season 7 had awesome potential IMO until episode 8 and then it went downhill. I just do not enjoy the comics one bit...except for the HS one which is how my nostalgia kicked in. I don't think I'm being unrealistic in what I like. While I did love the high school years, I'd also love to see Buffy continue to grow up after HS...I just don't like the direction of the comic. No that's totally fair. I agree that season 7 started to waste its potential around episode 8 also.

Buffy's choices in Becoming:
1.) Kill Angel and save the world.
2.) Have everyone die so she wouldn't have to kill Angel.
Buffy's choices in Season 5/The Gift:
1.) Kill Ben to destroy Glory
2.) Find another way to save the day.
Buffy was never in a position in Season 5 where killing Ben would actively save the world. If she'd tracked him down soon enough before the ritual and killed him she may have stopped a possible threat to the world, and after she beats Glory in the Gift it's unlikely Ben would have posed a threat anyway.

I have to giggle a little bit at the reactions. I seem to recall a lot of nerves about Lynch and his capacity to write the characters; and Urru's art received a lot of backlash for his representation of characters too. Honestly, switch the names and a number of these posts could be copies from a year or so ago.
Not a great position for a new writer to be honest, following a story that wrapped up nicely and left many characters in unusual places. For me personally, I love the idea of Angel going back to roots somewhat, but I'm not sure I need to see it. I haven't read it, and not sure I will. I'll see how I feel when the collected edition rolls around.

Every now and then I read a line or see a panel and I forget I'm reading a comic. It's just pure Buffy. It might not happen quite as much as I'd like but it does, and it's great.
