Sky, if I win I'll send the set to you. Wait ... could you use them in Europe?

If we ever get a new Buffy movie or even Buffy novel, we'll need a new villain. Won't we? I'm disappointed in S8, the way they keep recycling villains.
Can we brainstorm a bit about a new villain would be like?
Kind of a side thought ... it always seems to me that a villain works better if his/her objective is limited, if his/her success would not end the world, but only Buffy and her friends. The Mayor was like that, so was Glory. It seems to me that the show lost its way a bit in S7, battling too big a villain. Christopher Golden and Nancy Holder, in their books, also go for extravaganza this way.

This is kind of vague ... but I always figure what we need are more good villains.
I just saw a trailer somebody made for a story (not yet written, let alone produced) where the Scoobies meet versions of themselves from an alternate universe. That sounds promising.
I have a couple of other vague notions, but I think I'll wait to see if that one draws any comment before I post them.

The question is whether Sweet is a villain, whether he has evil on his mind. I think of him as a random interloper, just out for a good time, not interested in accomplishing anything for good or for evil, who makes a mess and then doesn't bother to clean up the mess because he's on his way out anyway. He's like Mr. Mxyzptlk or The Impossible Man.
Would I like to see him again? Sure. But if he did, wouldn't you think, "he's back by popular demand, not because it makes sense in the story"? That's what I thought when I saw Vamp Willow in Doppelgangland.
The Gorch Brothers are cool, but they're in the category I call "comic relief villains." Buffy doesn't have to fight for her life against them.

That's true. Has anybody done any fanfic about Veruca's backstory? That'd be interesting.
The way she's written, it seems like Veruca was a ... is there a word? She's an adjunct to another character, not a full character on her own? She exists for the purpose of illustrating something about Oz. Therefore, while I don't find her character admirable, I don't think we can blame her for messing things up for Oz. She just brought out something that was latent in him.
I can't see her being a big bad, or being the lieutenant of a big bad. She likes to do her own thing. She might become a successful musician, though.

Yes, Mr. Tick was great! I was sorry when he died. I almost hated Faith for doing that (don't tell her). Here's a thought. If Mr. Trick had survived ...
After the Mayor dies, what happens to the Sunnydale government? Who's the new mayor? Maybe Mr. Trick could be a transitional figure, connecting the old administration with the new?
Sweet? Is he a villain? If you don't summon him, he'll never bother you. Am I wrong? He was a great character, but I don't think of him as a villain.

I just finished "Same Time Same Place." An underrated episode, I think. The homages, to Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, made me a little queasy, but you see so much of that in Buffy. There was so much in it that fit, that was natural. There was good character development with Anya. It almost makes me glad Xander left her at the altar (because it led to a good story). The final scene with Buffy and Willow was tender and beautiful. I fell in love with Buffy all over again. How many times have I fallen in love with Buffy? There are numbers too big to be named.

I'm interested to know if anyone has favorites among the minor villains in the Buffyverse, some of which are really colorful and engaging. I'm thinking more of actual bad guys, not so much the comic relief villains like Harmony. Are there any of them that deserve more attention, that might be used in new stories, that might have the potential to be "big bads"?
BTW ... don't forget about EU characters, like Camazotz, who appears in "The Lost Slayer."

I'm reading a textbook called "College Geometry." Brushing up on my geometry. I'm actually more into linear algebra, most of the time. I'm also reading fanfic by Electra126. I do love my Fuffy.

I just finished "Deep Down." Apparently Connor was pretty insufferable during that unshown Summer. Gunn and Fred were both pretty irritated with him.

In keeping with Joss's professed atheism, there are several passages in Buffy that seem to project an anti-religious viewpoint. At one point, Buffy says, "Note to self -- religion, freaky." On her first day at UC Sunnydale, when a student asks her if she has accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior, her reply is, "You know, I meant to, but then I got really busy." There are also a few references to God in the two shows, mostly on Angel as I recall.
It's always seemed to me that BtVS takes an existentialist and absurdist position, as Joss says of his own beliefs. For a conservative Christian, I'd think that would be a problem. I do know some conservative Christians who are Buffy fans, though. Tabitha Grace Smith, who is one of the founders of Buffy Between the Lines and hostess of the fanfic podcast "Strangely Literal," is a believer. I don't know her personally, though I have exchanged maybe four emails with her. I don't know how she reconciles it. I do know she wrote a fic once where it transpired that Giles' version of prehistory turned out to be wrong. I guess the idea of an ancient earth run by demons didn't fit in with her world view. But talk to her, if you can, I don't want to put words into her mouth. If you go to the BBTL site I think you'll see a contact button. She answered me, I suppose she'd answer you too.

There's a free font called "rebuffed" that I downloaded. It's an updated version of Buffied, I think. It doesn't seem to have another f either. Not many fonts have two versions of one letter.
I think you might be able to shrink that "f" by using a smaller font size for just that letter, or by using it as a superscript, in which case you'll probably have to do some manipulation on the relative size of the superscript and the relative position. What word processor do you use? I actually made up an MS word document with the word "Buffy" in the rebuffed font (which you can online for free remember) that might serve your purpose. If I have a "real"email address for you I can send it to you.

The Fray future means a ruined world, or just a world without magic? Does the ruin have to happen? Is Fray's world the only one possible, if the seed is destroyed? I don't think so. Am I missing something?

I voted to destroy it, but not with great conviction. On the whole I'm comfortable in a world without magic, and I'm not sure the ugliness of the Fray future really was a necessary consequence of it (I might change my mind). Is anybody worried about the new universe?

Well, it just takes time to read them, and that's time I'm not spending contacting authors or downloading files or whatever. And you know, I have other things on my plate, including my upcoming podcast. My son tells me he already listed it with iTunes, but when I search on iTunes, I don't find it. Not sure what's going on.
