I have a feeling that you will be able to read the main Buffy title for Season 9 and understand what is going on. Basically, they are going to be operating more like comics instead of a TV show. Scott Allie mentioned that Season 9 would be like the early Marvel Comics universe. It is very normal for comics to have a main storyline with several spin-offs. Wolverine appears in several titles, but you can read them independently and understand what is going on. If you read all the titles, you may get a bigger picture or perspective.
In the IDWverse, Spike-"The Devil You Know" is lightly referenced in the main title, but it is not a necessary read. Season 9 sounds like it will be the same. I can't imagine they will alienate the reader that does not want to pick up every title.

It's the Buffyverse, therefore I read it. There's not much they could do to keep me away.

Best wishes to you, I am sure that you will be feeling like new in no time.
As for a Giles marathon, this might be the only time I ever recommend "Where the Wild Things Are" because it has Giles singing (and he gets to wield a chainsaw).

And two very interesting side effects of that will be a) no more Wolfram & Hart in this world, and b) no more Powers That Be. I don't think the end of magic necessarily means the end of Wolfram and Hart. We really don't know what's going on with them during Season 8. There are plenty of humans that worked for them across the world that are still alive, and still evil. The only branch that disappeared was the Los Angeles branch. It probably does mean that they are cut off from the Senior Partners, however.

^^^ I think they are going to be able to sell the Angel book because people will want to see where he goes next. Leaving him in such a terrible position makes me wonder: How does he move on from this? How can he possible be redeemed? How do we keep Xander from not cutting his head off?
As for Spike after seeing Red, they were able to bring the character back because there has always been a clear delineation between Vampires with souls vs. without souls. Having a soul changed the game for Spike.

I had to make an account to share this because I haven't read it yet here, plus I had been stalking these boards for a few years now! Did anyone notice that Giles died the same way that Jenny Calendar did? I thought it was rather poetic... Good eye! Scott Allie actually talked about that in an interview (Buffyfest I believe). He says it was definitely intentional.

I usually stay out of the politics of this site, but I was compelled to comment on this. This whole thing is unfortunate. I know a lot of people feel that Slayalive is a "Safe Place" on the internet, and it stinks that a member now doesn't feel comfortable here.
That being said, keep in mind that there are a lot of yucky people on the internet. It is a place where anyone can say whatever they want without any real consequences for their actions. At the same time, we can't take what these people say to heart; I'm sure that if harmindervamp has children in the future, they will be loved, healthy, and happy. Don't let something some moron on the internet said ruin things for you. Their comments are irrelevant, and hold no weight. Harm, if you are out there, my thoughts and hopes are with you and your family. It sounds like you are going through a really tough time.

so alot of people are talking about the ruination of Angel as a character.. am i the only one worried that Willow has also been left here without purpose? without magic, the thing that Willow lives for and makes her so awesome.. has gone, so what story is left to tell for Willow now? I'm sure that it will be an interesting journey for Willow to go on without magic. If what we see in TOYL does indeed come to pass, she finds a way to get a least a little magic back. Plus, I loved Willow before she found magic. She's also super smart, brave, and caring. Xander has helped save the world many times (once single-handedly) without any magical powers; I'm sure Willow can do the same.

Hmmm, Mooney's Blog says this is for 41.. Could be 42, though, he just says an "Upcoming Issue" , but the link says 41. Its looks like a finale cover though...

^^ Not sure what that means yet, but it sounds pretty lame. I don't know much about Darabont's reputation, I wonder if he is difficult to work with...

I always looks at Glee eps in two parts (as many people do): The music and the rest. For me, the rest was pretty good. Rachel kind of got put in her place (Mr. Shue yelled a lot this ep!), I enjoyed the Artie/Brittany moments (her character is getting more depth), and really like Puck in this episode as well. As for the music, not impressed this time around. The highlight for me was probably the Hipsters; their rendition of "The Living Years" was pretty awesome. Besides that, the songs were yawn-worthy in my book. How can people sing a song called "Hey Soul Sister" without any Soul? Oh wait, I guess Train did it too... Also, "Time of My Life" with the world's most boring couple? I kind of agree with Finn-taking out the star quarterback in the championship is not a good idea.
I gotta disagree with the Sam love. I find him to be both a bland singer (Auto Tune much?) and a boring character. He did gain some ground with me last week, when he stood up for Kurt the way he did. I would like to see more of that Sam and less of Squinn.

Connor/Jasdelia was easily the creepiest. Xander/Cordy for its sheer hopelessness. Parker/Buffy for the "I want to punch this guy in the face" factor. (Riley's best moment on the show, IMO). The Wesley/Fred/Gunn triangle got kind of tiresome in Angel season 4, too. That was a bad season for ships... Connor/Cordy, W/F/G, Wes/Lilah... ick. Yeah, people are always like, "I love Wes and Fred", but i think Wes seriously broke the bro code.

Pat, I agree with a lot of what you have to say. While I am not over the moon about a Jossless reboot, I like the idea of Buffy living on. I think they could have waited another 10 years, but strike while the iron is hot and such.
I think a lot of people forget that above all else this is a business. Even Joss Whedon cares about money. It's nice to think that he does it all for us, but that's just not true.
I am really tired of seeing people bash Whit Anderson. She's just doing her job. Some people say she should have said no. Would you have said no? I wouldn't have. If they asked me to I'd be writing the crap out of this movie, if I knew how to write a movie, that is.

I just hope that when/if the Nuffy movie comes out, the discussion forum for it will be kept strictly separate from the one(s) for Joss's Buffy. Can you elaborate? Do yo think that it should not be discussed here when it comes out?

Dravenuk, I just don't think that is realistic. In a world where jobs are hard to come by (especially writing jobs) and money is needed for mere survival, people are going to be motivated by cash.
To play devil's advocate, I ask this: Why did Joss ever give up the rights in the first place if he loves Buffy so much? How could he ever allow anyone else to gain control of his property? My guess is he was young, broke, and looking for his big break.
