Is it just me, or does every single girl on SlayAlive just love crying "sexism"? I don't know why girls are so sensitive to the word "slut" considering it a word most often used by girls when they want to insult another girl. I was going to stay out of it, but I want to point out that girls who call girls slut, but who don't call men something equally insulting if they sleep around, are technically also sexist. In case you hadn't considered it. That's not sexism! Men shouldn't be forced to sling insults at each other every time they get laid just because women try to insult each other with the word "slut". I don't care I call everybody slut's, skanks and ho's. Male or female. It's just how I roll. Ha ha ha. I do the same thing! I mean, they're just words.

I didn't say that men should ve forced to do anything, or sink to those women's level. I said that women who treat women who sleep around differently than men who sleep around, are sexist. Because they don't treat women and men the same. And why would women be less concerned about the word "slut" just because it's often used by women? You don't think girls can hurt other girls?

Sexual suppression isn't the same as sexism. You mean sexist against women? Yeah, it's kinda to be expected I mean you're aware of my ideal marriage. Yes, I do, but I wouldn't necessarily call them sexist. Do you believe every woman should live like that?

I'm very interested in studying the differences between the genders, and thus tend to judge/treat/talk to people differently according to gender (though I do sometimes talk to someone and figure they're menatlly a different gender). I think that counts as sexism.

I think that counts as sexism. There are fundamental difference between men and women, both physically and mentally. Acknowledging those differences isn't sexism, in my opinion.

Sexual suppression isn't the same as sexism. I'd consider it somewhat sexist if the woman wouldn't insult a man in the same way, just simply because he's a man.

EricThen we define sexism in different ways. Like I said, a woman who sees women who have lots of sex in a negative way, but don't think men sleeping around in a negative way, is a sexist, because they discriminate, according to my definition. (As seen here dictionary.reference.com/browse/sexism ) While people who see both sexually active men and women as sluts (slut meant as a degorative term) aren't sexist. They're just mean. No offence you people on the forum who feel that way. People who call other people sluts without meaning it in a negative way aren't mean or sexist tough. Just careless, in case they use it in the wrong context, when people will be offended.

It's very interesting to study, and to study how it's changed over time. My theory is that an increase in the global human population has cause changes in the levels of hormones in people, thus making men more feminine and women more masculine. This results in more gay people, as a sort of natural way of stopping people from having so many children, thus causing a decrease in the population. This sort of thing has been found in large animal populations. But we are getting rather off-topic here.

Sexual suppression isn't the same as sexism. Just want to point out that the kind of sexual suppression I'm talking about is one kind of sexism, since it's mainly a suppression of women, by both women and men.

Typically, I don't care to get involved in other people's business, but I personally don't respect people who have promiscuous unprotected sex with random people and think it's okay. Do you show that you don't respect them, or is it a silent hidden disrespect? [Not trying to start a fight.] If it's a friend or a family member, I state my opinion at the appropriate time. If it's a coworker, friend's friends, strangers, celebs, etc, I simply don't care.

I will say that politically, we'd be a lot further along with dealing with more pressing issues if we as a society were less hung up about sex (who's having it, who's doing who, how many people are people doing? how many times? etc). Sex is such an effective diversion...

Touche. On a personal level, I'd agree. But in terms of politicians getting all up in it, and the public actually going along with it... it's befuddles me. And actually, it's not just politicians. The entertainment industry does it too. Someone has yet to offer me a legit explanation for why the Kendra sex tape was such big news, when hello... A) ex-Playboy playmate, B) one of three of Hugh Heffner's old "girlfriends", and C) well... she was paid to be naked and performing sexy, titillating acts in the first place. It's not like Mother Theresa's tape got leaked or anything. But I digress. And incidentally, proved my own point. Even though I wasn't distracted by the existence of the sex tape, I was distracted by the mystery of why that's news. OY!

I agree. Yet at the same time, I get why sex is so fascinating. To talk about, disagree about, try to stop or to make acceptable. I'm not even sure I want this focus on sex it to pass, to become "old news". Because when it's no longer taboo and a strong theme in politics, when sex is a everyday thing that raises no issues, it will lose part of it's appeal. But on the other hand, no harassment of us sluts.

Personally, I like to have sex for pleasure, and not neccessarily for love. But I understand that for alot of people, sex without love is not something that they would be comfotable with and I respect that. However I would never have sex with anyone who had not gone and got an STD test if they had slept with someone else directly before me. This is probably because I am horribly afraid of getting an STD. I am also Horribly afraid of getting pregnant, because I never want to have kids. So I only have protected sex. I am so paranoid that I use birthcontrol, and condoms, always. So what I am saying here, is that I would only have sex with someone who meets these conditions, which would mean that it would have to be a friend or a boy/girlfriend, because I am big on the safety, and I doubt I would find anyone who just wants sex for fun to go get an STD test first. So when people have casual sex I think it's risky, because of the possible HIV/herpes. But I know how fun sex can be so I do not judge them. Good on them for being so much less afraid then I am.
And on the other subject. I never stereotype people based on gender, or for that matter, based on anything. I believe that since no one ever completely fits a steotype, why should you assume they do, when you can assume nothing instead. I just meet a person, and I will observe thier gender, because you can't not. But I will not take anything away from that other than Girl, or Guy, or other. Whereas other people will see, Girl: bad driver, Guy:likes sports. Grouping people into such small categories prevent us from seeing others as whole individuals.
