Season Four wasn't all that great, but even at its worst it was still superior to most of the Season One episodes. Season One has one good episode ("Angel") and a really, really bad plot arc concerning a villain that never does anything until the final episode, whereas Season Four has quite a number of quality episodes ("New Moon Rising," "Hush," "Restless," "Something Blue," and "Who Are You") and a fairly weak plot arc.
Even the abysmal final half of the Seventh Season still looks good in comparison to the first.

5 - LOVE the storyline 3 - Faiiiiith 7 - I can't place why, I just really enjoy the overall feel of this season 4 - Probably has the best standalone episodes in this season, I don't understand all the hate it gets 6 - Brooood! 2 - I don't like the standalones so much, but I enjoy seeing Buffy upset 1 - Better standalones than Season 2, IMO, but still the Master was weak It was hard to place 7, 3, 4 and 6. 5 is always my favourite, and 2 and 1 are always meh

S6 is my least favourite, followed by 4. The arc/villains in each leave something to be desired (Dark Willow excepted, of course). But even so, as is always the case, each has some individual episodes that are genuinely great (Fear, Itself; Hush; Restless; OMWF; Normal Again) . As has already been said, a 'bad' season of Buffy is still way ahead of most everything else on TV.

I think season 7 was the worst it was too focused on the first evil and just really boring (in my humble opion). The other seasons had more comedy and also more depth.

I picked S7. Too many new characters for a final season! i wanted to spend more time with the characters i had grown to love, not meet new buddies who i wont be seeing again! Plus, hello? least xander filled season bar none!! I love all the seasons, i just felt like S7 was the least amazing.

But to everyone. I have got to say I am suprised at the number of people who dislike season 7. I know there are a lot of plot hole and Willow along with Xander was pretty much a background charatcer but the story was amazing and the fights scenes were good too. ...now how about that season 4 with the big ad that just sat in a cave the entire season and played on his computer. Even in the finale Buffy had to go to him and where did she find him??? On his computer. Adam wasn't evil he was just lazy.

LOL! Karma. If it makes you feel better, Season 4 is still winning. ;] For my part, I like it better than Season 7, but only for its standalone episodes ("Something Blue", "Hush", "Who Are You?", etc). It definitely wasn't superior in terms of central arc.

How can anyone think season one was the worst? I mean HELLO that was the start of Buffy and you just have to like it.

Technically you're just picking the season you liked the least.

I think Season 1 was the most awful compared to the other seasons, but it still kicked butt, which says a lot for the others.

My least favorite season is a toss up between season 6 and 7.
Season 6 was overall too dark and depressing and season 7 felt all over the place, especially with the addition of all the potentials.
Favorite seasons would probably go something like this: 2,3,1,4,5 then 6 and 7. Wouldn't trade any of them for any other show though. Had to have them all.
All the seasons have some great moments in them, even season 6 with the return of Giles and his famous re-entry. "I'd like to test that theory". Thinking about it, I might actually dislike season 7 more than 6. Lessons and Chosen was pretty amazing but most of the in between was rather boring, imo.

Season 6 for me.
It's the most moving season of all, filled with character development, pain, weakness & strength, but it's like the sun.
Important, but too bright too look at.

Least favourite season is probably season 4 but un like most I actually LIKE Riley. His charatcer was great and I really do like the idea of the Initative but after Maggie Walsh was killed the entire season went down hill...it was picked back up again a little on the last few episodes "Yoko Factor" "Primeval" and "Restless" but over all I feel it is the weakest. I would have said season 6 but it is saved by the ammount of comedic episodes in it mainly due to the Trio, this and I am fan of dark shows and Buffy season 6 gave us this. I just wish they could have given us it without Dawn always moaning and the Doublemeat Palace...

Oh, DEFINITELY season 1. In fact, when I introduce Buffy to my friends, I give them a synopsis of it and have them skip straight to School Hard because I think it gives people a bad first impression of the series. It's completely different from the rest of the show, and not in a good way...it's much more dated, cheesy, and worse in overall quality. I'm still surprised I thought it was good enough to get me to watch through the rest of the show...at this point, I can't even rewatch it without cringing.

i'm really surprised S4 has more votes than S1, even though it is a really bashed season by a lot of Buffy fans to be honest, i don't get the hate that S4 gets. i really enjoy S4, the only thing i don't like is Adam, not the storyline with him, but the character. i kinda hate Maggie too. oh, and Riley. yuck. and all his initiative friends like Forest or whatever his stupid name was. BUT i do like the idea of the initiative and it made a lot of sense. i also love the whole Willow/Oz/Tara triangle and how college was tearing apart the core group and it was all too much to handle. hilarious season. mainly for Spike and his chip. 1. Season 5 !!! 2. Season 6/Season 3 3. Season 4 4. Season 7/Season 2 5. Season 1
