Best Season of Buffy

This one's a little tough for me as I have always seen the whole Buffy series as three acts:

Act 1.) Seasons 1,2 & 3

Act 2.) Seasons 4&5

Act 3.) Seasons 6 & 7

Overall my fav. is season 6! But I do like 5 more, just find the Joyce episodes too depressing and I NEVER watch "the Body" anymore...way too realistic and reminds me of my own mother's death too much.

Season 2 for me.

I think other seasons were stronger on an episode-by-episode basis, but in terms of overall arc, I like season 2 the best.

When Spike and Dru first came on the scene, they were cool, sexy, intreguing, and creepy as all get out. And then soulless Angel (they did not yet differentiate him as Angelus) was so very, very evil and cruel.

The romance, OMG, the romance! All my favourite 'ships this season, except for Xanya, but I still like Xander/Cordelia. Giles/Jenny, Willow/Oz, Spike/Dru, and of course, Bangel. The soap opera aspect of the show is one of the things that made me love it. It's just love triangle upon love triangle. And there's every kind of relationship, from romantic comedy to high tragedy.

The character development is great. I started the season not liking Buffy very much at all, and ended up feeling both sympathy and admiration for her. Cordelia is humanized a great deal. Willow gets into magic. Xander becomes a boyfriend for the first time, and he also grows in competence and responsibility. Oz is introduced. Spike goes from enemy to reluctant ally. Giles has the strongest arc he ever gets, with a love interest and everything. And of course, Angel goes evil.

I also love the way the season premier sets up and is mirrored by the season finale. Buffy challenging Angel to fight her; the decoy message, etc.

I love all the series and believe you can't get the whole story without every chapter. I'm a massive fan of series 5, 6 and 7, though i voted for season 5 as the best. although when i think about it i'm not sure this is strictly true. I think i voted for it because of the strong story arc, Dawn was relevant in this series and all the characters experienced growth of some sort. There's things to love about all the seasons! can i change my vote to impossible to decide?

I love season 5, the whole Dawn/Glory that was a huge surpise to me. It was orginal and not just things that been done before. I did like season 6 certain parts but when Tara died it almost ruined the show for me in ways..... but the best has to be 5!

season 6. I mean come on: musical ep., evil willow, grave, spuffy, evil trio.....it doesnt get any better than that~~~ hehehehehe

I seem to have five favorite seasons and two less favorite seasons. I think whichever season I am watching is my favorite at the time. Seasons 1 and 4 are my less favorite, but I love all the others.

I reassert my position from the previous board that season 4 is actually not bad, but good. I think it played out really well, plus Restless was the best season finale of any show ever.

I agree that it is impossible to decide for me. All 8 seasons have impressed me a lot! They are all fantastic!

I think the first three seasons were awesome. I loved the development of buffy and angel's relationship... from ideallistic to realistic... season three was really poignant.. Plus the show was really fresh and you cant beat a show in its early years I reckon.

yeah i think that season two was pretty good as well.

evil angelus was pretty darn sexy... i loved very droll humor that they used for him, practically had me salivating. who doesnt like a bad boy?!

I would have to say Season 3 by far. To me, it had a perfect balance of humor,action and drama. I was insanely hooked when that was on the air.Faith was awesome. What could have been a boring new character(sorry Kendra)turned out to be one of the most interesting and complex characters on the show. Faith was the smartest decision Joss ever made with that show.
Always wished she had her spinoff.
Also, Oz and Willow...to watch Willow go thru so many thing with him and Xander.

I voted for season 5. Season 3 was awesome, but crazy Tara and her interaction with Willow was the best relationship in the Buffyverse, ever.

Season 3 by far. It's all about Season 3- Best episodes, best villains, best moments, best couples. Just pure quality all round

I had to go with Season 3. I loved the angst and tension between Buffy and Angel and the whole Faith storyline was really addictive to watch.

Oddly, even though I think Season 3 is best I don't think it has any standout episodes.

Revelations, Lovers Walk, The Wish, The Zeppo, Döppelgangland, Enemies, Earshot, Choices, and Graduation Day (1&2) would all be in my Top 20 BTVS episodes

Season 3! Faith is why I started watching the series. Soo many amazing eps.

i love season 6 because it started out so lightheartedly with the trio. then the sudden switch to the death of tara and dark willow was great.
