I chose season 3. Season 2 was filled with good, interesting storylines. Season 4 was amazing up until Buffy and Riley started actually dating... Season 5 was very good (apart from all the episodes surrounding Joyce's illness and Into The Woods) Season 6 was a great season because it was a realistic reflection of life itself. Very dark- and Dark Willow was an interesting, shocking twist. Season 7 was ok. I thought the Ubervamp kicked ass.
But season 3 had something. It was a very light-hearted season of all the characters in their last year in school together. You had the arrival of Faith, Vampire Willow, introduction of Anya, and of course the official closure of Sunnydale High. Not to mention that Sarah Michelle Gellar looked uber hot in this season. ;D

Interesting that Season 2 and Season 6 have comparatively few votes in this forum. The impression I've gotten from the fandom as a whole is that they're considered two of the best, up there with Season 3 and Season 5 (which is the one I voted for).

Oh, Season Five definitely for me. While other seasons had their strengths, for me Season Five was the perfect blend of everything which I like in Buffy: good storyline, interesting character development, lots of well-written episodes, and both humor and drama.

6 is my favorite. I love it because it focuses more on everyone's internal conflicts rather than big-bad-of-the-week. Also, I love angst.

Season 5 is my favourite, love the arc, love the individual episodes, it all rocks. But season 3 isn't far behind.. just don't enjoy it quite like I did when I was younger.

First post, long time lurker...
Gotta go with Season 3 - loved the Mayor/Faith as the Big Bad and the alternate universe episodes. Most consistent season, not really any lame ones.
It was a tossup between that one and Season 5, because I love Glory, her minions, and the Knights of Byzantium, but this season didn't kick into high gear until this story arc was introduced around episode 5. Most emotionally involved season by far, and it took the Buffyverse into a darker direction than ever before.

I think its all about Season 5, it was an actual buffy season where i felt proper proper suspense and didnt know if buffy was going to win over glory !!

It was a hard choice, but I chose season 5, because I feel it had the strongest stories, as well as the saddest (The deaths of both Joyce and Buffy).

It's pretty much a tie between Season 3 and 5 for me. So many amazing episodes, and definitely my favorite Big Bads (even though I would probably have to say Mayor > Glory). I think it's crazy how Season 4 wasn't really all that great from an overview perspective, but so many of the individual episodes were amazing. I guess I'm just not a huge fan of Adam.

Wow I think season 5 is the undisputed leader. In every BtVS forum I go to it's always the winner.. and always followed closely by season 3. Although season 6 is way down in 7th place for me.

Interesting that Season 2 and Season 6 have comparatively few votes in this forum. The impression I've gotten from the fandom as a whole is that they're considered two of the best, up there with Season 3 and Season 5 (which is the one I voted for). I think the big thing with S2 vs S6 is the whole Angel vs Spike thing. They're both amazing seasons (I voted for 2 myself, and not just 'cause I'm a B/A shipper) and I think a lot of people just seem to get caught up in shipper wars that it seems like people are all about those seasons. But when looking at the series as a whole and choosing the best it's nice to look away from the 'ships and at the seasons as a whole. I chose 2 'cause while it had some mediocre episodes (Bad Eggs, Ted, etc.), the arc of the season was really well done and it showed how much heart Buffy really puts into her calling even though, as Kendra tells her, she calls and acts as if it's her job. But really it is a part of who she is and S2 really shows us that.

Season 3 will always be my favorite Season of Buffy. I love every single episode, and the development of Faith, introduction of Wesley, and of course, Mayor Richard Wilkins III was all just incredible.
Season 5 is a close second as well. I also loved every episode, and I thought the way Dawn was introduced was just brilliant, Glory was an excellent Big Bad, and Buffy realizing Spike was in love with her was absolutely hilarious.
If I had to rank all of the Seasons it would go as such: Season 3 > Season 5 > Season 2 > Season 6 > Season 1 > Season 7 > Season 4.

Hmm? It won't let me vote in the poll. Weird. I'll try later. My choice is for season six!

That is odd. I voted just an hour or so ago. Perhaps you already voted and just forgot?

Season 3 was great...it had a lot of Whedon-isms...I think that season 6 got away from that. It seemed as though it was a transition season. Season 7 was a great full circle in every character's development.

I went for season 3. Bit of a hard decision, though. 5 is also amazingly awesome. It has one of my favorite episodes ever (The Body). But then again, there was Dawn who got on my nerves quite a bit. And the Dracula episode bothered me. The whole not dying thing.
And why the Sid hate, man? You're racist towards puppets, ain't ya! I bet you even hated Smile Time! Puppet Show was a great episode, by the way. Best. Ending. Ever.
