I don't know if it will be the Twilight reveal or not, but I have a gut feeling this issue is going to end with something very big and very bad happening... a true "holy s***" moment. Something that will send Buffy & Co. into.... Retreat.

I've been assuming all along that he's behind Harmony's show and the "outing" of vampires. His plan is to destroy the Slayers by getting them labelled as terrorists, with their racist attacks against innocent vampires and demons. And then, with the Slayers out of the way, I think he intends to then expose the vamps for what they really are. Caught out in the open with their guard down, the vamps will then be cut to pieces by panicky humans. |

Have to the seriously lacklustre past four/five issues, something damn good had *better* happen in this issue. For me it's got a lot riding on it

Another great title! "Living Doll", I just love the sound of it. I've been waiting for Doug Petrie's contribution to this series since the beginning. I'm interested to see which way this story goes, considering it focuses on Xander & Dawn, is it going to be in the same vein as "Potential" which is similar to the scenes Dawn & Xander shared in "Anywhere But Here", or will it be more action and adventure, like their story in the "Time of Your Life" arc. It's also intriguing as to how Twilight will be involved in this story. I still have a feeling he could have a connection to Dawn, considering the similarities in their respective names, it's obvious yes, but it will still make for a very interesting story. The idea that this could be another of Dawn's transformations is also very fascinating. This could be Dawn's final transformation. Speaking of that, does anyone have an opinion on the significance of Dawn becoming a centuar? Dawn as a giant I get. It's hilarious, the subtext was so obvious that it was TEXT, which fueled the humour of the situation. But Dawn as a centuar, funny, but I can't seem to "get" any other meaning from this. Is there any allegorical or metaphorical aspects to this transformation that I'm just missing? well we don't even know what the deal is yet with the thricewise spell but my guess is that her turning into a centaur relates to her desire to be different or special. (even though she is pretty damn unique-not too many former balls of energy walking around outside)-but considering the people dawns surrounded by, her desire to be something more is understandable. I don't know, that's just my guess as of right now. |

I think maybe the spell should have worn off, but she is simply causing it to happen, much like Willow caused herself to go unnoticed to her friends in Same Time, Same Place all because of Dawn's desire to be noticed. When she went to college, she was noticed by Kenny, but screwed that up when she slept with his roomate.
Thank back throughout the entire course of her time in the show, she has always craved attention, and when she didnt have it, thiose were the moments that no one could stand her (the audience). she bitched and complained and yelled "Get out!" over and over. But when the discovery of her being the Key, she became well-adjusted and lose to her family and friends. Then in Season 6 when the excitement wore off, Dawn went feeling unnoticed again so she almost got herself turned by a vamp and she became a klepto. Once everyone found out about her habit, she came into the spotlight again and for the majority of Season 7, Buffy payed attention to her, until all the potentials started showing up and she once again became lonely.

So excited for this tomorrow, seems like it could be an amazing issue. I really hope it will restore my excitement for Season 8, things just haven't felt right since that delay between #18 and #19.

It's terribly frustrating to have to wait until after work so I can get to the comics shop. Especially since people are usually already posting about the issue by noon. I'm going to have to start taking personal days on every Buffy Comic Day.
I live in fear of the day my shop gets shorted by the distributor and I get no copy...
Anyway, bonus: the "Time of Your Life" trade paperback also hits comic shops tomorrow. It'll be another week or two before regular bookstores and Amazon get it.

My comic shop doesn't get their shipment in until 5 p.m. so I have to sit around all day staying away from threads and stuff. Can get brutal, especially if I am bored.
