Darla, Drusilla, Olivia (Giles' tart), Tara (I just don't like her). And of course: Nicky Wood. Just the most boring, unidentifiable and yawn-making character in the Buffyverse I can think of.
Who I'd loved to see more on-screen: Jonathan (always felt like the lost Scoobie to me), Amy (same here), Dark Willow (well, I didn't like the circumstances she appeared, but definetly potential e.g. Season 5)

Definitely Andrew. For me, his character got old fast. I still think he's funny sometimes, but way too overused. He should have been done in Chosen.
Spike was overused in season 6 of Buffy. I really liked him when he was bad, not when he was pining over Buffy. Don't get me started on this topic, I get a bit steamed.
Professor Walsh, Rona (any screentime was too much), and Eve.
I love Drusilla, in my opinion she didn't have enough screentime.

SPIKE after he went pseudo good it was a wrap for his character imo just became kinda annoying especially in angel he was reduced to a whinny little girl (im the shanshu not angel, life's not fair and blah)

wow...i cant believe this many people don't like Spike. he is my fave character. oh well.I also love Andrew. I agree that Olivia (giles' girl) was useless. I HATE Harmony. Jasmine bugged me, as did Amy. I wish we would have seen more of Oz and less of Amy. Some of the potentials really bugged me too. acutally, the whole idea of potentials bugged me. but that's another whole story......

I'm also going to have to say Spike. I thought he was a great character throughout Buffy Seasons 2-5, but after that I just wanted him gone. The show should of been called "Spike the Vampire Slayer" during Seasons 6 and 7. The 5th Season of Angel also should of just been called "Spike".
Warren too, if ANY villian had to come back to life (and have it make NO sense), the last person I'd choose would be Warren.

I don't really get the Spike hate either. I always perk up whenever he's in a scene.

Spike !
Glory should have ripped him to shreds !!, I hate him, During season 2 he was good as the villain., the whole "chip" thing was just to keep him in the show, and it wasnt necessary. urgh !

And that wouldn't have anything to do with him being pointlessly naked in every single scene he was in during Season 6, right? Pointless? Blashemy! But I think it's pretty hard to have all sex-scenes in a show fully clothed. But your right, it wasn't fair to anti-Spike fans and James himself. The other characters should have walked arounf halfnaked too. But only the hot ones. wow...i cant believe this many people don't like Spike. he is my fave character. oh well. Yeah, it's weird. This is the only forum outside TWoP where I've seen so much Spike-hate. TWoP? And I have to agree about Spike taking over a bit. In season 7, I wanted to call the show Buffy the vampire lover. And I think that Gunn, Fred & Wesley should have gotten more face time in season 5. Not that Spike's arc over both shows haven't been entertaining and brought in well needed ratings, but I wanted more Wesley. But, it could just be that Spike is so interesting and because James har such charisma that I think that. I wouldn't be surprised if he got less time on screen than the other characters. But since he got such an interesting and complex story, the viewers are going to notice him.

The gratuitous nudity annoyed me, too, especially in Wrecked and Gone. (Although I don't consider all of it pointless, since I like to compare and contrast how Spike and Buffy each deal with sex; Spike is at ease, Buffy can't get into her clothes fast enough; Spike is open with the praise and the innuendo, Buffy is guarded and ashamed even at their most "couply" moments. Definitely supports the interpretation that sexual liberation wasn't a blip in Buffy's radar until Season 6, and that she wouldn't have been so open-minded in this department in Season 8, if not for her year with Spike.) Think James was the only one whose contract had leg-room when it came to nudity. Television Without Pity. It's basically the #1 Spike haters' lounge (closely followed by SlayAlive, apparently). The latter. James Marsters: I usually got about 3 pages of script. Scripts average 43-48 pages and I averaged between 1 and 3 pages an episode. So, I didn't "take oxygen" away from anybody!!! (7-03 Tampa)

(7-03 Tampa) I thought about that quote when I wrote my entry. And he might have thought about this when he said it, but just because a scene only gets one page, doesn't mean that it's a short scene. Just making that clear. I wonder what got him mad tough? Maybe he had been attacked by an Bangel-fan recently. In what context was he quoted? Has anyone thought about timing the characters? Of course it's not only about the time the characters have on screen, it's about their arcs, but it would be nice to have a schedule before the Spike-bashing begins.

Someone told him about that one Salon article that claimed Spike compromised the original message of the show and got too much screentime and ended up ruining it and then went on to ruin Angel, blahblahblah bitterness and envy. *changes avatar for the occasion*

I don't judge Spike as an over-used supporting character. To do that, I'd have to think his material was unneccessary. I think he had a great story (6 was just a shitty season in general) and his presence only annoys people because other characters weren't used to their potential (mainly in season 7). Him getting a big story wasn't what forced other characters into the background, the writers were responsible for that.

I want to read it so I can write and angry response. I know, I'm such a she-dog sometimes. But it honestly sounds like an article I would disagree with. I read this essay were Spike was compared to the Fonze, he had only been kept for ratings, the show was about the uncool outsiders and now someone cool was brought in, he overshadowed the rest of the characters blabla. I wonder if that's the one. EDIT- Another thing I thought I should mention is that we should seperate the Spuffy moments from the Spike moments. In season 6, Spike was on screen a lot to help Buffy's character grow. There wasn't that many scenes that were about Spike, not until season 7. They were about Buffy. Spike was just a tool.

Thank you, henz. That's it exactly. +Karma I read this essay were Spike was compared to the Fonze, he had only been kept for ratings, the show was about the uncool outsiders and now someone cool was brought in, he overshadowed the rest of the characters blabla. I wonder if that's the one. That's the one. All the characters are tools for Buffy's story. She's who the series is about.

Warren, Andrew and Jonathon for starters.
Also, Conner in Angel. He bothered me so much.
And Cordelia in Buffy. She annoyed me too, but then she became cool in Angel so no worries.

Adam from Bufyf season 4: He was bumped up to be the villian when they stupidly killed off Maggie Walsh. I always take it as she was the Big Bad for S4 and Adam was just...theres not even a word. He had so much potential too but it was never used instead he just sat in a cave/lab and played on his computer. Even in the last episode he wanted Buffy to come to him and when she found him where was he??....On the computer watching the carnage instead of making it.
