3 Months Till issue 36!??!! Well everyone needs a break I suppose But I think they just wanna torcher the fandom considering it just happens to fall at the beggining of the last arc.

However... I'm seeing a possible flipside... instead of the scope getting bigger, it's possible that it's getting smaller, as has previously been mentioned. It's been said there would be a smaller cast, and that the characters would be facing a "changed landscape" or something like that. Could be both a smaller cast and a bigger scope... maybe Buffy & Co. are stranded in whatever world they chased the demons into, and have to get back in an Odyssey or Anabasis-like story. A small cast of characters fending for themselves in a large-scale epic.

3 months!!!!! I thought it was only two!! Maybe another one-shot? Buffy the Bank Robber one-shot? Or how Xander ended at Dracula's castle one-shot? Or how Dawn went giant without tearing down the university?

Or how Dawn went giant without tearing down the university? Scott mentioned in his last Q&A with us that the two month break was now three. June will see the release of "Serenity: Float Out", July is a gap month for the Whedonverse, and the Riley one-shot will be released in August. Nothing else planned.

Which, of course, will probably put a big old stake through the sales and interest increase Meltzer's arc has been bringing. But, I suppose it must be Joss's schedule making the delay necessary.

Not even sure if Joss' scripts have started coming in yet. The script for #35 was pretty late going in... Scott mentioned that they were kinda cutting it close. I'm guessing work's started on the Riley one-shot... 4 months is plenty of time to get an issue out, methinks.

It's just too bad the Riley one-shot couldn't be a Twilight/Angel one because I'm more interested in how that came to be than anything else. I would love an explanation as to how it could possibly fit into the IDW time line, how Twangel knows all that stuff and so forth. I just want to know because I doubt the next 2 issues will be able to answer every question we might have in regards to the character.

Well, there'll likely be answers coming from Joss' final arc too.

Angel's story should be pretty well told in the main run.
Do we know who's writing the Riley issue? Very pleased to hear he's getting some spotlight, I'm really happy for him lol (yes I know he's a not a real person). I wonder if this is at all a response to fan feedback... his appearances have been pretty fleeting and underwhelming.

A few months back, we knew we were getting a Buffyverse one-shot as a fill-in, but we were told that it would most likely be a "Tales of the Slayer" type deal. The one-shot will be a nice addition. No news about the creative team yet, but there may be some word on it in the next "Behind Season 8" feature that CBR does.

Part 2 of the TFAW.com video HERE. So, "S9" will be much bigger in scope. Check. Stories should be tighter. Check. Joss will still be Executive Producing, and writing some, but probably not writing as much. Check. Probably a good thing they'll be having the big pow wow early on then, to make sure that everyone's on the same page, so that Joss doesn't have to keep coming back in to reign in the season.

Thanks for posting that. I posted it in the "Serenity: Float Out" thread since there it was pertinent, but I hadn't gotten around to properly reading the interview.
Also, kinda figured that Moline would be illustrating the Riley one-shot. He's drawn him before, and Moline seems to be the fallback guy for one-shots. Definitely interested in seeing how this goes. Curious as to who the writer will be.

Curious as to who the writer will be. Doug Petrie would be a good choice.

Great interview. It's funny how Scott & Joss seem to lean instinctively towards Jane Espenson even after the shows are gone - don't they know she belongs to Ronald D. Moore now? I'm so excited for everything now. Yes, everything. In the whole Whedonverse. It's like an explosion of awesome.

I think it's funny that they will go straight to Espenson too, because general consenus has been that her issues have been pretty much the worst of the entire run.

I agree henzINNIT but that's probably their own little inside joke. They figure If she messes up then whatever Scott or Joss Propose after her would seem like Gold.

New Buffy Zone update from Allie HERE. As it turns out, Espenson will be writing the Riley one-shot (I think some people may have called it after the long interview with Allie posted last week), Moline will be doing the interiors and a cover, with the main cover by Chen. Some details on the Riley one-shot plot, so you're forewarned.

Hope Jane Espenson can deliver another Buffy #28. Insanely happy that we are getting the much needed Riley exposition. It just seemed crazy that they weren't going to do anything with it.
A month with no Whedon-ness sucks, but it's understandable.
