I disagree with your disagreement. Though this is firmly in the realm of the totally and utterly subjective I felt that Buffy became boring in some places, while Angel always had that drive forward. I felt that Buffy's character development stalled and in many places went backwards and thus found it harder to relate to them. Though, this might depend on how you view the last two seasons of Buffy. Which is an interesting question. How did you feel about those two seasons? Buffy's plot was more development with amazing episodes to back it up, but for Angel most of the episodes were boring and their were connected to the main plot. Plus Buffy had better arrange of stand alone episodes that Angel could ever dream of. Don't give me wrong Angel is good, but not as good as Buffy. I felt season 6 was excellent concept of development for all characters. Like what Scarygothgirl said that Warren had impressive, realistic and disturbing development which connects to reality, real life monsters. I just felt that Buffy had a better plot and more realistic themes to it, so we can all relate. Angel too me, was a good spin off. I only appreciate Angels darkness, but Buffy season six is arguably the darkest season of BtVS.

For me the amazing episodes were balanced out by some shockingly bad ones, and the character development was just bad after season 5. For me Season 6 was poor, and I found its so called development to be poorly written, poorly thought out and often downright wallbangers. It did, however have some of the best episodes of the entire series, but the inconsistency can be annoying.
Angel on the other hand was more consistent in its episode quality and its characters kept developing and still had awesome episodes. I felt that Angel never lost its sense of direction and the feeling that there is a larger world of good and evil, which was something I felt Buffy came to struggle with.
But each to their own I guess.

I loved the characters of Angel. I didn't always like them, but the show did such an amazing job of buidling the family, they bounce off eachother perfectly.
Buffy never had it. The school years were easy, but the character relationships became really strained as the show moved beyond them. In the awful last 2 seasons, I really question why that group of people continued to hang around eachother.

But each to their own I guess. Buffy season 6 defiantly is a dark season, you hated it!, but i loved it. Especially the development of every character, realistic themes to show understanding of the responsibilities of true life. . Each character had a path and a role, to face responsibilities, consequences and even choices, which is a good thing because when i watch this season i put my own experience to a character and i follow that character to the end. I think i appreciate that concept because i am still growing up and learning from my mistakes. So i think Buffy is more realistic with the theme it deals with. I think Buffy quality of plots and stand alone epsiodes are more interesting and even has more depth to it, then Angel. Season 5 to me was rushed and had average stand alone episodes. The only good part about that season is Harmony. Spike didnt suits Angel. I alway consider him as a buffy character . Angel is good. But Buffys better.

I don't exactly hate Season 6. It had some very good episodes and the rest had some good ideas but tended to fumble over them. That's perhaps one of the reasons I dislike this season. There was just too much waffling and questions. What is Giles doing? Staying or leaving? Pick a side, we're at war. What happened to Amy? I'm sure there's a reason but sadly we were not told and so on.

I like Faith, but I don't mind people saying they don't.
I wonder, is it the person Faith you don't like, or the character?
I think she's a marvelously effective character, and a great asset to the series. If she somehow came to life in the real world, though, I'd be very wary of her to say the least.
One thing I really don't follow is how anybody can possible prefer Angel to Buffy. Even at its best moments, AtS is emotionally monotonous. It's attempts at comic relief are contrived and flat. And not all its moments are good. When Angel is bad, it is horrid. Remember "She" from the first season? My mind turns away before my stomach can rebel. Buffy never sank anywhere near that low.

I don't actually mind "she", but I know what you're saying. Angel has some great episodes and some really interesting arcs, however I feel like a lot of the time it misses it's attempted mark, just a little. Sort of like when someone buys you something say with a certain pattern, you get where they thought you'd like it but it's just slightly off somehow, I feel like Angel does that a lot. I get it's point, but something is somehow missing or off. That being said, I do like the show, but some things could have been done better.

Totally, agree. Angel was good but overall Buffy was the better show. The themes it deals with are excellent. I felt Angel was lacking something, maybe connection to reality. But i did enjoy Angel.

I think the most of Angel's stand-alone episodes are pretty boring (that's the reason why I didn't like season 1 of the show). The plot-related episodes were much more interesting to me. I never felt that way when watching Buffy. AtS lacked the warmth of BtVS, which I only saw glimpses of in its 3rd season and the last part of season 2. And although I really love Cordy, Wes and Angel, I'll always love the Scooby Gang more. I really like Angel, but to me, Buffy's so much better.

^^ Totally agree, KARMA. Buffy has warmth to it which attracts the audience. And i agree with the stand alone episode as well, to me their average.

I think another thing Angel lacked was comic relief. Each character had their funny moments on Buffy. In the earlier seasons of Angel they had Doyle, Cordelia and Wesley. Doyle died, Wesley went dark and Cordelia got boring. There was hardly any funny moments until Spike showed up in Season 5.
This leads me to another unpopular opinion. I prefer geeky/clumsy/funny Wesley to dark Wesley. I enjoyed Wesley more in Buffy and the earlier season's of Angel. I just watched Spin The Bottle this morning and it reminded me just how hilarious Wesley used to be.
I literally laughed out loud when Wesley tripped and hit the chair trying to warn Conner of Angel. I really missed the funny moments he used to bring to the show.

Angel never connected with me the way BtVS did.
The way one friend of mine put it was "So basically they took all the less interesting characters from Buffy and put them on a show together."

I'm in the BtVS is better camp.
With Buffy I can watch a bunch of episodes one after the other, good or bad eps, and still be ready and enthusiastic about watching another one. However with Angel I watch one or two and I don't want to see another one for weeks. It starts to become a chore for me to watch more than two Angel eps at a time.
I can't really pinpoint much about why that is for me. I do know that I feel more of a connection to BtVS and its characters than I do to Angel and its characters. With Angel (the character) I find myself more interested in knowing about his past and what he lived (or technically didn't live) through before Sunnydale. With Buffy I want to find out what's in store for her future and how she gets there.
With Buffy there was a connection to the outside world and we, the audience, often saw them in everyday situations away and even during fights with the supernatural side of things. With Angel I never got the feeling that they had a life outside of the fighting demons.

Buffy as a character was "done" by the end of season 5. All the last two seasons did was make her miserable and then intolerable. This can be said for most of the main characters too. The only characters I saw actually develop beyond Season 5 were Willow & Tara. Hells Bells. Truely embarrassing.

Yeah. I don't get it either. She may be the worst episode of Angel but it's still better than Beer Bad, Bad Eggs, Hells Bells, the Killer in Me and Empty Places by a considerable degree.
Sure Angel does have some bland episodes, but so does almost every other series. Buffy has them too.

I've got to respectfully disagree on this part. There are certain scenes/lines in She that I love, I really do, but that episode is far more painful for me to watch than any of the episodes you mentioned. I would even watch I Robot, You Jane before I watch She and I hate IRYJ.

For some reason I am slightly out off by Spike's looks in season five. I don't know why, maybe it has something to do with the shape of his face. In my opinion he looked hottest in BtVS's fourth and sixth season. I even prefer his S7 look to his S5 although he was kind of ... fat then.

I guess tastes just tend to vary.
